- Nothing quite causes such a caustic reaction than using the word 'Soccer' to describe the sport of Football to a British person.
Most of us in the UK handwave the term 'Soccer' as an Americanism, retorting that the sport is in fact called Football.
However, the origins of the term Soccer may surprise you...
In this video, we will be looking at where the term Soccer originated and how it came to be used interchangeably with Football.
Do the origins of 'Soccer' surprise you? If so let me know in the comments!

As a Spanish speaker born in the USA, this is how I call these sports:
-In English: Soccer and football
-In Spanish: Futbol tradicional and futbol Americano
But honestly, calling soccer, football, makes lots of sense. But I think American football should of been called tackle ball
Football has nothing to do with kicking the ball with your foot. It referred to ball sports played ON foot rather than on horses in the medieval period where sports were a luxury for peasants. There are also several types of football sports, not just 2.
@The Vannarch Again, I said American Football 🏈 should be called Tackle Ball. But you technically kick a football 🏈
The legend is back
Nice n Concise 👌
YOOOO your back
Finally your back
Back from the dead are you
I see that you have uploaded a video for the first time in three years.
He’s back
Back in the day there were way more than 2 types of footie. Practically every club had its own rules.
This is a good vid
Thank you :)
Thank you
He return
It's called soccer not in the US only, but in all English-speaking world, except Britain.
In Britain the most popular weekly show on the sport is called 'Soccer Saturday'. The informed in Britain and the rest of world know the history. The informed will indeed remind the uninformed that the Americans are not wrong. The Americans give credit to the Brit's and the Americans are 100% correct..

WELL WELL WELL LOOK WHO RETURNS TO RUclips AFTER 3 YEAR HOLIDAY

Great video Adam! I just made my own factual-type video about maps
Adam do you have an Eve with you? 9-2-2021
hi adam
Hey ☺️
Your gun laws video blew up so here I am, hi.
Well, I hope we can all agree that the name of the game is football.
Can u do a Guns in the USA (Talking about the laws and Why its so common to own a gun)
I'd prefer to call it football than soccer only because it makes sense than what the NFL does,
One thing I really love about American soccer vs European football, is the difference in politics. American soccer fandom is a bulwark of antifascism and antiracism in America, while European football fandom is often populated with the very worst racists in the world.
Australians: your both wrong
Bruh wut about gealic football
