I'm gonna tell you right now, this story line has more twists and turns than anything. It is not easy to follow, so don't feel bad if you get lost in the craziness
Perhaps they had to build a gas station set because it's hard to find such gas stations in korea? The gas station in the MV seemed to have a dirty/ grungy look and from my experience of travelling to korea for holiday, the gas stations there are generally well-lit, clean and modern.
I think this was an old abandoned one that they had to fix up for the mv ... I think I read somewhere that this was based off an old gas station that they took apart and reassembled in a warehouse
It is on warehouse, I read there is even a museum with the old sets. I think it is also convenient because they will use the same scenes for future MVs like that they ensure that nothing did change. As it is the Universe story they are recurrent scenarios
I agree with you. I think I've only seen one or two abandoned gas station that companies use for MVS. The permission to dance photoshoot gas station was the same as tripleH 365 fresh
Everyone is recommending Run next, but Onstage: Prologue is the bridge between I Need U and Run! If you’ve already planned for/filmed a video for Run, I highly recommend still reacting to Onstage: Prologue afterwards. I think you’ll really like the storytelling through the visuals and camera work they use.
ruclips.net/video/cOj4HhJfaXY/видео.html Absolutely!! And here’s a link if he sees this comment with English subtitles. And also a quick FYI to Alex, hyung means like older brother or older close male friend. All the younger bts members call the members older than them hyung. It’s a term of endearment and V is calling RM (the one at the gas station) after killing his father.
I think because they had a low budget they decided to invest in things that were really needed like the high quality cameras and the sets because those sets reappear several times even in future videos as they are an integral part of the storyline and they just made do using the staff as extras and their cars and all. This song is truly an iconic one and billboard even called it one of the best kpop songs of the decade. It would be great if you followed it up with the Onstage Prologue (the one on their channel doesn't have subs but you can find a subbed one if you search)and Run MV 💜
It didn't show it in this video but Suga's fire scene, it was kinda like the fireworks at the beginning, it was flames coming out of pipes laid out around the room. They didn't set the room on fire lol I remember watching it and Suga's complaining about his feet being cold from the water and then complaining cause the fire's hot lol
WHen you were talking about lighting of an interrogation scene, I flashed onto the scene where V is at the police station and the light is coming from above. I would love for you to go through the story line. I think you would enjoy the Wings Short films (including V's interrogation) which are part of the story line.
So up next is -on stage prologue - Run -Young Forever -all 7 wings films -Blood Sweat and Tears JAPANESE VERSION -Live Trilogy Wings Tour Trailer -love yourself highlight reels (you only need to react to the 13 minute long version) -Euphoria
The next video in the storyline is “onstage prologue “. the original doesn’t have subtitles but I checked and there is a version with English subtitles if you search for it. 💜
I think it's pretty hard to find grungy/gloomy gas stations in korea especially in Seoul (capital city). Also, they had a scene of dropping a cigarette in that gas station so I don't think it'd appropriate to use a real set😅 Great reaction by the way I've been binging your kpop videos bts and txt are my ults♡
Lol! You've got to remember, they were under a record label. A tiny one who was going bankrupt, but one who provided connections, had equipment already on hand, and fronted costs where it needed to. In terms of a professional music video it's low budget, but it's a whole studio's version of low budget, not one guy or a small group trying to make it on their own. That's not to say they didn't do the most with the least, just that I think it's easy to have a skewed idea of what the difference between most and least is for an individual vs a studio who has been making videos for a few years by that point.
I highly recommend you to watch what I suggest IN ORDER! Since you already watched I Need U and Blood, Sweat, and Tears I won't include them on the list but so you know those two mvs are part of their storyline. 화양연화 On Stage : Prologue RUN EPILOGUE : Young Forever WINGS SHORT FILMS 1-7 LOVE YOURSELF Highlight Reel '起承轉結' (make sure it's the 13 minute long one, that's the only video you have to watch among the highlight reel series since it's basically all the short films in one) Euphoria : Theme of LOVE YOURSELF 起 Wonder
This was the song which had them get their first win! Very amazing and Run follows the same storyline. It's such a bop even now and boys have mentioned they love it as it gave them their first win after 2 years of working
I saw video of the directors talked about their work on BTS debut MV, they says that even at that time the MV is not cheap. BTS and the label understand that a mv is as important as the music and put a lot of resource to ensure the quality and hiring the best crew.

The first blow of the bottle V hits the man with matching up perfectly to the car's impact and Namjoon dropping the cigarette that acts as the match to start the fire in the motel room are just really brilliant editing choices that give me chills every goddamn time I see this mv.
their ON STAGE PROLOGUE is next! I’ve seen someone tell you to react to Run next but you should react to the PROLOGUE before Run so you can follow along in order!
The thing with the quality of equipment vs budget is that they always prioritise quality and the best outcome. Even if after they struggled to have enough money for food. Remember guys they used to save on food to buy the clothes for the performances. All those places and warehouses may be just rented or just far from the city where you can rent a place for a really low price. The guys commented in one of the shootings " we are done for today but we still have 4 hours to arrive to Seoul" For sure they would never save first on quality of the equipment. Lumpens (the director) is a perfectionist, he is amazing in all his jobs. Also the guys were working in several places as back up dancers to get more money.
"On stage prologue" is next A lot of people told it to you but I'm not sure you've noticed that Run after prologue Please pay attention to the order its important if we speak about BTS UNIVERSE Thanks for reaction 😊
ALEX pay attention to my comment please 🙏🏻 ‼️The next one is “ON STAGE PROLOGUE”‼️ A lot of new ARMY even don’t know about the full and right list and they recommend RUN But the truly list of storyline is: I need u➡️On stage prologue➡️ Run (and more after Run but we’ll recommend it later) I really hope you will see my comment 🙏🏻
Btw when people say they had nothing it's comparative to kpop, they did have support and resources but it was next to nothing compared to other groups, like kpop is so expensive and a massively competitive market so even if you have finances it might not be enough. Hundreds of groups debut every year and only a handful 'make it', and they're from big companies. Its considered an achievement to make it past 100 days, there's actually a vid of bts celebrating it
I guess they usually built sets even though they can rent real places to avoid spoiling the song or the overall theme since it's a big part of the whole k-pop world
love your reactions esp when bts surprises you lol. you’ll find out the details, depth and layers in due time, like we all did. bts still surprises me with each comeback.
These sets were actually used multiple times so I guess they just decided to build them since they were going to use them for several videos, even now you can still see some of them being used to keep the storyline going
I think it's really cool to see that even back then when they didn't have quite the budget, they still tried their absolute best and went all out with creativity and got the best equipments possible no matter how much it had cost them. It's like they didn't want to be restricted with low end stuff just because they couldn't afford the high end ones. They were sincere and passionate enough to put everything into the work they were doing. It shows and it's brilliant cuz it all paid off at the end!
I think on stage : prologue is the next one(older armys correct me if I'm wrong). The one on the official channel doesn't have subtititles though but you can find it if you type "eng". There are also compilations of the videos in order I think.
I REALLY WANT YOU TO CONTINUE THIS STORYLINE. While you watching videos you mention some things that we have never noticed. Thank you for that. As I said before, please continue in the right order. Next is HYYH On Stage: Prologue.
❗️The next one is “On Stage Prologue” for sure If you want better understand the storyline you should watch “On stage prologue” before “Run” MV Thank you for your reaction 💜
I think Save me was cheaper 🤣 it's a onetake performance video at some beach or desert looking area and it just happened to rain a bit. The shooting sketch for that MV was nice. And they were dancing despite the cold and the director was also pacing around their choreo because it was all in 1 take 😅
Oh! You'll see Koreans say "fighting!" a lot. It means "let's work hard!" or "good luck!"... something encouraging like that. Chinese often say a phrase that's the same that translates to "add oil!". It's interesting.
I really like your reactions, they're genuine and very informative. I also like how you're slowly starting to learn their names Next one should be Onstage Prologue, then Run. That's the right order. Thanks a lot, you're doing amazing work
If you want some cinematic scenes, search " BTS WINGS short film". They are 7 short videos supporting the "Blood sweat and tear" video. I mean they have A LOT of hidden meaning relative to the "BTS Universe". But it's ok to watch them just to enjoy the beautiful sets. Then you can watch " The highlight reels", there are 5 of them, please watch them in the right time-order to have the best experience.
But it would be better to watch Wings short films after completeing the HYYH part of the storyline. Even though short films kind of stand alone from the storyline, they still have references to it like Hobi's short film has pills, and Suga again sets the room on fire. It would just make more sense to watch everything chronoligically and not just randomly jump to Wings era :)
@@iwanttosueminyoongiforbein2819 If he wants to understand the BTS Universe then he can start from the beginning. I don't know if he wants to or not, but he's a filmmaker and he talked a lot about his love with cinematic sets, so I recommend him The short films and the Highlight reels. As I did day in my first comment, The short films relate A LOT to the BTS universe, but if you watch it without knowing the storyline, it's still good, in another way.
The lowest budget video they have is pr 'Spinebreaker'. They were challenged to make a music video themselevs in one day while staying in a hotel. It's really funny and the making of is hilarious.
i think it’s important to recognize that while this is them at one of their lowest budgets, they had still been a company for years with a previous somewhat successful artist. meaning they already had these cameras and access to sets before things went more down hill.
the video production company they work with has always been good. kpop as in the industry...is never what you imagine as "low budget". however they WERE quite poor at that time and this was the beginning of their big come up
@@Carolina-wz2qo they used their own clothes, it was a rainy day, they filmed in one shot sequence because they just had a day to film it they needed to return the camera
Yes please! It’s so interesting to get film makers takes on it bc y’all notice a lot of implied things that we miss bc we are too busy stuck in the weeds trying to read every thing written an inch high in the back ground. You catch the forest for the trees but bc you have a different perspective you are able to notice things!
I'm late but because there's a storyline within BTS, I recommend watching them in the correct order! Don't get my wrong, it's insanely confusing but it'll help! Watching the upcoming videos in this order should help a lot: 1. On Stage: Prolouge 2. Run 3. I Need U (Japanese Ver) 4. Run (Japanese Ver) 5. Young Forever 6. All 7 Wings Short Films (I highly suggest that you watch all of them in the same video) 7. Wings Tour Trailer (I suggest watching this with the BS&T Japanese mv) 8. Blood, Sweat, and Tears (Japanese Ver) A lot of people in the comments forgot about the Japanese music videos, but they're really important!!
If you search through google, you’ll find a 28 minute shooting sketch (there are those long shooting sketches for many mvs actually), but you won’t be able to react to it since it’s a paid content and will be taken down. But maybe you can watch it yourself. The long one for Fake Love is interesting

If i remember correctly Bang pd the CEO of BIGHIT took on a huge loan for them to have more budget for the album development and MV production. Plus those equipment were from an outside production company that make their MV Lumpens so they were just basically renting them out for this shooting sketch.. I think the boys knew how crucial the success of the album to BIGHIT staying afloat but they also knew that people would love it because of their lead track I Need u. After the success of this album Bang pD immediately payed back that loan
Alex, please react to ON STAGE PROLOGUE next🙏🏻 You will understand storyline better for sure if u react to “on stage prologue” after “I need u” and “run” after prologue
LOL you are fully entrenched in the rabbit hole now. But if you want a video just for fun because the storyline will be A LOT take a look at Idol. It's a lot of fun, very colorful and mostly green screen. But it would be cool to hear your thoughts on how they did some of the special effects.
New subscriber!! I love your reactions, honestly you’re the only reactor that I care to watch and listen to your commentary. Idk I just like the way you explain things especially from a professional filmmaker view. Very interesting! Also, some people are telling you to react to Run next but you need to react to their On Stage Prologue first! Pleaseee, thank you!
It's really more enjoyable if you'll continue the storyline because I believe that you'll have different interpretations than I usually heard since you're a filmmaker. BTS is an art that can be interpreted in many ways therefore I'm excited to hear your thoughts about it. Thank you so much for high quality reactions~
You said the light used in the scene with Taehyung and his father looked like an interrogation light. Interesting. In Taehyung's short film, Stigma, there is an actual interrogation scene. Never thought about that. About the built sets - I think maybe they want to be able to control minute set details; sometimes, they might want to use the same set but with some minor alteration, or a similar set in place of the original. Thanks again for another great video!!!
The storyline consists of four music videos and this is the first one. Then ‘Prologue’, ‘Run’, ‘Young Forever’ in order If you want to see all at once, there is a video ‘BTS- (I NEED U + Prologue + Run + Young Forever Epilogue) Full Story’ ruclips.net/video/OkSxPkIc3JA/видео.html (*But no Eng subtitles) 2nd - On stage : Prologue ruclips.net/video/Bt8648TNX1M/видео.html (*no Eng sub but HD video) ruclips.net/video/eDkseQw2Mg4/видео.html (*with Eng sub but low quality video) But actually it dosen’t really need subtitles, just two sentences you need to understand, ‘Hyung (older friend or brother), I wanna meet you now’ at 1:10, and ‘We have to survive’ at 4:20
Don’t believe everything armys tells you in the comments. When bts says stuff it’s up to interpretation bc they aren’t going to go into details, they may just say “we didn’t have as big a budget for this video as others bc our company was struggling at this time” and then ppl interpret it as it was low budget and then tie in that it was intended as their last. They may have saved some money here and there with things like projectors, But does this seem low budget to you? No not at all. Even the equipment, the permits, and set rentals. Seems pretty expensive.

The budget wasn't the best and they had to improvise here and there but they had to worry about bankruptcy at that point anymore. In 2015 they already had a decent fanbase and their albums sold well too, just in Korea they weren't as known or popular. About one or year prior to this (especially after their debut) it was a bit harder for them. Also all their MV's since 2014 were made by Lumpens, a video creation company, that wasn't so big either at that time but they always valued good quality content as you can see by their filming equipment.
Yeah, I'm not sure why some Armys are saying that they were on the verge of bankruptcy by this point, because their previous album had sold well and their concert tour had done really well.

Oh! You'll see Koreans say "fighting!" a lot. It means "let's work hard!" or "good luck!"... something encouraging like that. Chinese often say a phrase that's the same that translates to "add oil!". It's interesting.
Next - On stage prologue
After that - RUN mv
If you wanna react to the storyline then On Stage (Prologue) is next with the song Butterfly... Butterfly is also one of my favorite songs 🦋
Please react to the On Stage Prologue. Its the next film in the storyline.
Check out their Spine breaker, it's a self produced MV
I really like your reactions, they're genuine and very informative. I also like how you're slowly starting to learn their names
Next one should be Onstage Prologue, then Run. That's the right order.
Thanks a lot, you're doing amazing work
Yes! Story line! I really love hearing your perspective which has often brought up things I have missed.
As I did day in my first comment, The short films relate A LOT to the BTS universe, but if you watch it without knowing the storyline, it's still good, in another way.
if You want to follow a story line, You should definitely watch not only MV but also a short film between. You'll love it !
😂😂😂😂 old ARMYs are excited about prologue review 👏👏👏👏
보라해 아미!!!💜
im sure you’ll love the BU storyline. all the mv’s are perfectly made. cinematography, music, artists, director! everything! it’ll get u hooked up.
On stage prologue next 💜💜 then run 😊
Yeah we would love to watch you react to storyline
The lowest budget video they have is pr 'Spinebreaker'.
They were challenged to make a music video themselevs in one day while staying in a hotel.
It's really funny and the making of is hilarious.
I love your reaction and the details that u pointed out😅
i think it’s important to recognize that while this is them at one of their lowest budgets, they had still been a company for years with a previous somewhat successful artist. meaning they already had these cameras and access to sets before things went more down hill.
If you are doing it in order then next is "on stage prologue" (it continues where i need you left). run comes after the prologue
yes, continue the storyline please.. :)
Another interesting and informative reaction from you. I really look forward to your posts. I am so glad you found BTS, and we found you!
the video production company they work with has always been good. kpop as in the industry...is never what you imagine as "low budget". however they WERE quite poor at that time and this was the beginning of their big come up
"God I wish I could set something on fire like this some day"
- Alex 2021🤣🤣
Me too buddy... I feel that everyday !
I love your reactions and analysis. Thank you for reacting to their videos!!
Wow I really love your videos, the best thing is that I learn new things every time I see one of your videos 💜
I thing their lowest budget video was "save me" one camera, a choreography, and a few crew
they had to fly out a whole crew and equipment to Europe to film Save Me it was definitely not cheap
@@Carolina-wz2qo o.o it was filmed in corea, en buan-gum I think you confuse with other video
@@Carolina-wz2qo they used their own clothes, it was a rainy day, they filmed in one shot sequence because they just had a day to film it they needed to return the camera
@Carolina It was filmed in Korea... Why are you spreading fake information?
@@TheSecretScript hsksjska now im confused lmao which one did they film in europe?? im sure there was one? or im crazy
Watching the upcoming videos in this order should help a lot:
1. On Stage: Prolouge
2. Run
3. I Need U (Japanese Ver)
4. Run (Japanese Ver)
5. Young Forever
6. All 7 Wings Short Films (I highly suggest that you watch all of them in the same video)
7. Wings Tour Trailer (I suggest watching this with the BS&T Japanese mv)
8. Blood, Sweat, and Tears (Japanese Ver)
A lot of people in the comments forgot about the Japanese music videos, but they're really important!!
If you search through google, you’ll find a 28 minute shooting sketch (there are those long shooting sketches for many mvs actually), but you won’t be able to react to it since it’s a paid content and will be taken down. But maybe you can watch it yourself. The long one for Fake Love is interesting
You really should see singularity it's beautiful 💜💜
If i remember correctly Bang pd the CEO of BIGHIT took on a huge loan for them to have more budget for the album development and MV production. Plus those equipment were from an outside production company that make their MV Lumpens so they were just basically renting them out for this shooting sketch.. I think the boys knew how crucial the success of the album to BIGHIT staying afloat but they also knew that people would love it because of their lead track I Need u. After the success of this album Bang pD immediately payed back that loan
Hi!! thank u for your reactions, they are great💜
Thanks for your reaction 💜
Alex, please react to ON STAGE PROLOGUE next🙏🏻
You will understand storyline better for sure if u react to “on stage prologue” after “I need u” and “run” after prologue
You're so professional. I love your reactions.
LOL you are fully entrenched in the rabbit hole now. But if you want a video just for fun because the storyline will be A LOT take a look at Idol. It's a lot of fun, very colorful and mostly green screen. But it would be cool to hear your thoughts on how they did some of the special effects.
The power of lighting is incredible! I had no idea… lol it’s almost like when making shadowing in drawing or painting. It changes the whole feel…!!!
You NEED to react to their wings trailers there are 7 one for each member and one for the intro to the album so 8 total. But you need to see them
On Stage: Prologue is next.
Wow. Im waiting for this. Thanks for reacting im so excited❣️❣️
tienes que ver FILM OUT de BTS me encantaría saber de las técnicas usadas en ese video, es uno de los mas artísticos de BTS
Yes, please try to follow the storyline :-) that would be interesting piecing the MVs together :-)
Check out "Save Me".. its a one shot video from start to finish.
You should react to bts Run mv
They used their staff's car because they don't have enough budget
Yes please to the storyline. You give so much insight!!!!
The storyline consists of four music videos and this is the first one. Then ‘Prologue’, ‘Run’, ‘Young Forever’ in order
If you want to see all at once, there is a video ‘BTS- (I NEED U + Prologue + Run + Young Forever Epilogue) Full Story’
ruclips.net/video/OkSxPkIc3JA/видео.html
(*But no Eng subtitles)
2nd - On stage : Prologue
ruclips.net/video/Bt8648TNX1M/видео.html
(*no Eng sub but HD video)
ruclips.net/video/eDkseQw2Mg4/видео.html
(*with Eng sub but low quality video)
But actually it dosen’t really need subtitles, just two sentences you need to understand, ‘Hyung (older friend or brother), I wanna meet you now’ at 1:10, and ‘We have to survive’ at 4:20
Don’t believe everything armys tells you in the comments.
Exactly. They were NOT on the verge of bankruptcy here. This was still a higher budget than their first mv, etc.
Yes! Continue the story line. I can't wait until you watch Save Me! Behind the scenes too! Really great! 💜
i think you would love the wings short films. the cinematography is insane
It doesn't matter who you are or what your profession is, once you Jim-in, you can't Jim-out!

7. LOVE YOURSELF: HIGHLIGHT REEL (the 13 minute long video)
Yes go into the Storyline. I am curious what else you may see.
-they're actually showing detailed or more of their mv shootings/behind the scenes in their "BTS Memories DVD" every year..
If you're going to do the story line the next video is BTS (방탄소년단) 화양연화 on stage : prologue, a ver with eng sub is [ENG SUB] BTS 화양연화 on stage : prologue with lyrics [HAN/ROM/ENG] by cheesxcake ruclips.net/video/cOj4HhJfaXY/видео.html unfortunately its only like 480p but it has sub for the song (butterfly), the speech which there isn't that much of and an end credit scene that was deleted in the original. If you want one that's in higher quality the one they uploaded on vlive has subs www.vlive.tv/video/1712 but not the end credit scene. bts.fandom.com/wiki/BTS_Universe If you go to the Content section it lists all the content that's in the BU, after prologue its Run
Wow! Thanks! Now I know where to look for them too! 😉😁💜💜💜💜
@@mandyhagler5661 no problem 😊
I like your reaction, you are not only reaction MV but you reaction behind the scenes and you react very well.
Well thank you!
Yeah, I'm not sure why some Armys are saying that they were on the verge of bankruptcy by this point, because their previous album had sold well and their concert tour had done really well.
yess please continuee i really like your theories of their universe and you can see their highlight reels and all the wings short clips of their own individual stories
You can see the Director of LUMPENS, it’s the guy with the multicolor cap almost at the end of the video, the one with RM at the gas station set
