Born and raised in the Northeast Bronx, looks nothing like this, but I’ve traveled all over the city. It may not be everyone’s cup of tea, but there are some benefits to spending time here. You will probably be vigilant, street smart, and learn a lot about people. You learn what you can tolerate and what your boundaries are. You can appreciate the good and find common ground in all people. You might even learn a second language, even if it’s just enough to help someone with directions. Most importantly, you learn to count your blessings and if you eventually move away, as many Bronxites eventually do, you will not be judgemental towards people in videos like this one. There but for the grace of God go us all.

Same here. BX born and raised. I've started speaking a lot more Spanish due to the influx of many Latinos migrating from various countries to here in the city. And I'm not mad at all. I do this as a part-time security guard working for shelters for the past five years.

not rolling the roulette wheel either way.

Yes. NYC in the 1970's was a wasteland from Mad Max, especially the Bronx, Fort Apache. Just google president Carter and Reagan walking the rubble piles of the Bronx back then. I lived NYC then, Lower East Side. I grew up in an abandoned tenement that was converted into a crack house. Sell downstairs, go upstairs to get high and die.
NYC got better from 1990s to 2019, and now is back on a downward trend.
I left NYC, and moved to suburbia, but still visit NYC.
Each time I visit, my street sense kicks in automatically.

This actually isn’t the worst part of The Bronx. This area is called The Hub, and is the borough’s main commercial/shopping district. It’s basically a smaller version of Times Square. However, it’s not really an area I’d recommend to be in at night, though.

@@Forlazytravelers Morrisania and Crotona Park East are likely the worst parts of the Bronx. This is due in part to the large concentration of high rise public housing projects in these areas. Another area I’d avoid is Edenwald, which is in the northeast Bronx. Of these three places, I’ve only been to Morrisania. Though Morrisania is not as bad as it was in the 1980s and 1990s, there is a lot of gun crime in this neighborhood as well as robberies and other violent crime. I visited Morrisania in 2008, but I visited in daytime and steered clear of the public housing projects. There were a number of abandoned properties here then. Morrisania has frequently appeared in the news due to the frequent shootings. It’s not an area I’d visit again, particularly now.

Thing about it to own a gun in ya apartment legally you need a permit. You can go in person or go online and apply. Now to carry ya shit you need a concealed weapon permit that shit can be hard to get because of the bullshit and the classes. It could take up to 9-12 months to get . Now to open and carry you can only do that if you gonna hunting or some shit. It's illegal to have a gun loaded in ya car . New York City you gotta really pay attention to the gun law our you could be in a situation and still find yourself on the outside looking in. You could be in court fighting for it all hoping you don't have to take a up north trip to prison or some shit.
