Born and raised in the Northeast Bronx, looks nothing like this, but I’ve traveled all over the city. It may not be everyone’s cup of tea, but there are some benefits to spending time here. You will probably be vigilant, street smart, and learn a lot about people. You learn what you can tolerate and what your boundaries are. You can appreciate the good and find common ground in all people. You might even learn a second language, even if it’s just enough to help someone with directions. Most importantly, you learn to count your blessings and if you eventually move away, as many Bronxites eventually do, you will not be judgemental towards people in videos like this one. There but for the grace of God go us all.
