Thank you for clarifying all of the consoles’ power in gamecubes. Made it much easier to understand 🙏 Now it better let me have 500 Pikmin at once in Pikmin 5.
"Switcheroo" would've been the greatest meme name of any console in history if it was what they went with (right next to Xbox 9/11). I'm a little jealous we don't live in that timeline, TBH.
I think the reason the Mario Kart trailer didn't look as impressive at first glance is because a lot of the details are more subtle, which is hard to get a proper glimpse of on a trailer affected heavily by RUclips compression. Looking at things a little closer reveals just how much of an evolution it is over the original 8's art style. If you look at things side by side, it really does put into perspective how much of an upgrade this is.
Plus, they seem to have purposefully chosen an evenly lit track as well as avoided showing stuff like water and grass. It's pretty obvious this won't be on the Switch lmao
Seriously, that would've been legit. Now we can play our Switch 2 after we are tired of using the Playstation 5, while texting on our iPhone 16 about rumors of the Switch 3 being as powerful as the Playstation 6... sigh.
If it was actually called the "switcheroo" you cannot even fathom the numbers it would make! "BroDude come play some night of doom on my brand new switcheroo" Man would be so inexplicably epic.
This is the most reasonable take on the Nintendo switch 2 I've seen I'm not a big mario kart fan so until I see other games announced or the performance of the switch 1 games clearly enhanced it's hard to be excited for it.
Of course it'll have loads of games, leaks have shown that developers have had dev kits for a long time now, and Nintendo will have loads of games themselves up their sleeves, a bunch of them for launch too.
Just think about it. Wr didn't get a new 3d Msrio since 2017, Smash since 2018 and Donkey Kong since 2014. But Nintendo is always working on new titles for those series. They should have them already mostly finished by now. Just stacking them for thr launch lineup
@keaton718 If we didn't just see a new Mario Kart then I would have the same fear. But I want to be optimistic. I won't buy a Smash Ultimate port. I want target smash and story mode back.
Im optimistic about the Switch 2, but that's likely because I haven't been interested in a new console since the first Switch. More power and the chance for every Nintendo IP to get a new entry for a new generation is exciting to think about with tons of potential. Honestly, I think having a new Mario Kart on or around launch is all the Switch 2 will need to get a large number of people to jump ship. Also, I'm just happy that hopefully games this generation won't be held back by performance any longer.
I'm hoping that the Switch 2 is at least up to the standard of the PS4/XBONE. it doesn't need to be bleeding edge, but it needs to look decent enough and run at the bare minimum a smooth 30FPS, or at best a 50-60-ish FPS. the option to use the Joycon like a mouse makes me desperately want a Kid Icarus Uprising port, but I know it ain't gonna happen, because Nintendo would never give me exactly what I wanted without some sort of "Monkey's Paw" kind of catch, like with Starfox Zero and it's forced motion controls.
@BlitzkriegOmega I have to wonder, since Sakurai wrapped up with Smash Ultimate, and he's expressly aware of the demand of a KIU port/sequel that maybe he'll desire to work on that as his next project, and I feel he's a big enough name at the company at this point to do practically anything he wants. That said, Nintendo might have already put him to work on the Switch 2's Smash Bros, but one can hope.
@@101kirbyfan It would be nice, but even the game itself was like "Probably not for another 25 years, don't hold your breath." if anything, We'll probably see an updated re-release of Ultimate that he won't be directly involved with, while Sakurai himself works on a new Kirby game.
@@BlitzkriegOmega I hope not. The last Kirby game was amazing, that franchise is well covered. I'll rather have him give us a new franchise (nintendo has been lackluster on that front lately) or bring back a sleeping one.
You should check out Sungrand's review of what devs are seeing in the ten second mario kart clip- its got plenty of them buzzing (nerd vision needed to see whats about to hit everyone)
I read where someone suggested that the trailer they released was actually meant to be the "one more thing" at the end of the February direct. and that dude all the leaks they moved it up and that's why it got shadow dropped.
I think a good example of how much more powerful the switch 2 is than the original from what little we've seen is how vast the background in that track are, how huge the track seems and the fact it'll have 2x the players, all that and I still looks better and smoother, even if not to a huge degree.
The power of the visuals is seen in the full presence of the lighting. High res shadows all the way into the background. Mario and his kart lit by the higher resolution ground be drives on. I recommend you watch the video by Sungrand Studios about this.
AWESOME and i already did saw a trailer too late for you bane LOL looks like i'll be getting nintendo switch 2 LOL that's for another time because i got work online to do and for metroid prime 4 beyond i think they going put it on switch 2
Don't think I didn't catch that Dimentio music when you were talking about your surprise at the name, I see someone else is a true man of culture. Also flops do not necessarily equate to actual performance, loooong diatribe but the gap between Switch 2 docked and PS4 pro will probably be quite a bit smaller than that in practice (in fact it isnt unfeasible for it to pull very slightly ahead, though I wouldn't say thats likely).
This guy doesn't appreciate what that Mario Kart is actually doing and why its substantially more impressive than Mario Kart 8. Volumetric lighting, its clearly open world, 24 racers, real time lighting, the deformations, the poly count, draw distance, so on.
Although I think Mario Kart 9 looks a bit visually underwhelming, IMO we shouldn't judge it just by a few seconds of not even full screen nor direct from hardware RUclips compressed video of a most likely unfinished build. Also since this is their best selling game, it's probably the best game to show to sell consoles, but in this one they are probably prioritycing 60fps (like mk8 does) while supporting double the characters (thus double the shennaninang, explosions, etc) in which seem to be massive tracks/maps. Which also makes it "the worst kind of game" to visually show the power difference amongst the 2 consoles. It makes it look like a game that could run on switch, but in reality it's not even close.
There haven't been any major updates in rendering tech that would be immediately noticeable in a game like Mario Kart. Or most Nintendo games, really. We're likely to see the improvements in higher resolution, higher/more stable FPS, and higher poly count. In other words, Mario Kart 9 will probably be 4k/60 with a bit more shit on screen than Mario Kart 8.
What if the Mario Kart trailer isn’t Mario Kart 9 but just more DLC for 8 with another art style change to really mess with the game’s consistency? That would be a very Nintendo move.
To be fair, even just Mario Kart 9 gives it more exclusives than the Xbox Series X and PS4 Pro Pro Pro where all of their games can be played on PC. That bar is so low it's decapitating worms.

@@Charnutboy What if this is not a MK9 teaser but just a (very) preliminary footage made just for NS2's teaser?

I was about to say the same thing.

They missed a huge opportunity to call it Super Nintendo Switch.

i thought they were going to go beyond and change it to a synonym like Swap or Swapped
Congratulations on being the 10,000th person to make that joke!
Here's my proposal. Let's try to replicate the gamecube era where every game was fun and highly experimental.
Madness!
9:01 Ranking MK7 as the worst mario kart when tour exists is diabolical
That's because we don't talk about Tour 😂
