    I've just come back from France after a 17 day 1,500 mile trip. It's the first time I've used an Emovis Tag and it was brilliant! You can log in to your account and get a full breakdown of your trips prior to your monthly statement if you wanted to keep an eye on the costs. You are correct in saying that the speedy lanes are 30kph.

    Ta for info. For reference the dotted area near mirror is where there is no possible signal blockage such as windscreen heaters built into glass. Hence recommended location for tags

    Like you said I've no issues not using the toll roads. 30 years now and enjoy France.

    Great video, we have had one for 8 years and it saves so much time.
    The shaded area of the screen has better connectivity, hence placing it there.

    Nicely explained and indeed for you (right hand drive) it can mean a - small - time advantage, glad you (and many others) are happy with it but after more than 30 years of traveling to France, I can only say that it is not a waste of time at all to. I wonder how you can be sure that you have already saved a lot of time with a tag, to what are you comparing? The row next to you? Do you see how fast it moves? Trust me: just drive up, choose the right lane and you're through. That doesn't take even a minute. If there is a time advantage, it will be seconds. What can go wrong: at any toll booth (also the 'dedicated lanes' for the tags) someone could be standing in front of you who choose a wrong lane or their card (or in your case the tag) won't work and a line of cars as a result. I heard and read about issues with such a tag; problems that can cause jamming up at your lane... but also: charge incorrectly and you'll know that only afterwards. Good video, as usual; with a lot of explanation and as already said: clearly said too. Although personally I don't think the tag is necessary; I do half half alternative roads / péages.

    • @CampervanJourney
      @CampervanJourney  Год назад

      Hi ! Thanks for getting in touch and your detailed reply about the toll tags. We did travel in France on a few occasions prior to having a tag and personally find the drive up and drive through the TAG lanes preferable. As we tend to travel during school holidays, some peage gates get very busy, if we encounter 2 or 3 of these péage's where traffic is queuing, being able to zip through the 30kmh TAG lane we estimate has saved us regularly, 30 mins + on a days travelling. It's nice to have the choice as well. I really appreciate you getting in touch and thanks for your kind comment about the channel. Cheers JT

    Emovis for France and Spain had an £80 set up fee :O You need 2 tags for the two countries. There are way way cheaper options, but have the hassle of needing a bank account that operates in Euros.

    • @CampervanJourney
      @CampervanJourney  4 месяца назад +1

      That's a good point, but if you don't have a euros bank account I think the emovis still makes sense. Thanks watching and getting in touch !

  • @danielw9305
    @danielw9305 Год назад +1

    Can you swap the tag from one car to another car on the fly maybe by selecting which car on the website beforehand

    • @CampervanJourney
      @CampervanJourney  Год назад

      Yes you can, the tag is linked to you, not the vehicle. I believe you can get an additional mounting bracket from emovis and switch from vehicle to vehicle easily. The toll booth cameras work out the class of vehicle and therefore charge when they scan you as you pass. If in doubt, check out the emovis website for clarification: www.emovis-tag.co.uk
      cheers JT

    As your vehicle is RHD, I noticed that you have placed the Crit'Air sticker on the bottom LEFT of the windscreen. I didn't know it was OK in France as I thought it must be affixed to the bottom RIGHT of the windscreen as per instructions?

    • @CampervanJourney
      @CampervanJourney  8 месяцев назад

      Hi There, thanks for watching and getting in touch. You may be right with regards to the position of the Crit'Air sticker, but we don't seem to have had an issue so far. If I order another I will reposition, you cannot remove the sticker as they damage / seperate. cheers JT

    Driving with this system for the first time this winter. The info provided with the tag mentions 2m height barriers. Our van is technically 198cm - this is very tight. Are there always barriers? Have you ever worried about this? Thanks for any info. Cheers

    • @CampervanJourney
      @CampervanJourney  8 месяцев назад +2

      Hi ! Whilst the barriers are 2m the overhead hangers are a flexible plastic chain type affair - difficult to describe but will make sense when you see them. Our California is just under 2m like yours and we have not hit the overhead barrier. So whilst the first couple might make you hold your breath, you will soon get used to them ! Thanks for watching, have a great trip ! Cheers JT

    I have a similar tag for use mainly in Spain. Does the tag need to be fixed to the windscreen? So, if I hire a vehicle and cannot fix the tag to the windscreen, could it be temporarily fixed, without the bracket ( as I dont have two brackets ) and it'll still work or.....?

    • @CampervanJourney
      @CampervanJourney  4 месяца назад +1

      Hi, i think you can order an extra bracket for a low cost. Or maybe a double sided sticky pad would work...?

    • @thepanamahat
      @thepanamahat 4 месяца назад

      @CampervanJourney yeh I was hoping to avoid that as its a hire car.... also, I've left it a bit late to order the extra bracket, silly of me, I know

    With the Bip&Go Pay-As-You-Go, will this work with UK bank account? If not, would Currensea account work (I'm thinking about this Currensea account).

    • @CampervanJourney
      @CampervanJourney  8 месяцев назад +1

      With Emovis it is linked to a UK bank account with a direct debit coming out the following month.
