This episode was co-written by Keeley Hazell who plays Bex in the show and was part of the inspiration for the character Keeley. She’s done topless modelling and was part of the “Fappening” leak that this episode was based on.
I love that they made Jamie hold himself accountable without even having to be told to do so. And it wasn't ENTIRELY even his fault but he owned up regardless and apologised. Something season 1 Jamie would have -never- done. So proud of him and his growth. He really went from my most hated character in the show to one of my favourite characters this season. My theory with Isaac is less so he's upset with collin. I took the look on his face to mean "oh shit I just took his phone and now I see why he wanted to do this privately. I messed up" (it just looked like a face of guilt than anything to me)
Brilliant catch - I hadn't realized that. This show is the absolute best at set-ups and call-backs - no other contenders are even in the same universe.
A thing I noticed about Nate's growth over the last couple episodes was he response when Jade asked him about her morning breath. Nate from 2 episodes ago would have stammered, he would have tried (unsuccessfully) to evade the question, he might even have run away. But Nate now was comfortable enough to be honest. A major change just in this season.
You know what I also really love about Jamie's speech and the hug is that fundamentally it wasn't his fault either. Should he have had a stronger password and remembered to delete the emails? Sure. But he was HACKED, alongside a bunch of other people. Who knows, maybe there are explicit photos/videos of Jamie himself out there. As he himself said earlier in the episode, the only people to blame are the ones who hacked and leaked the info (verrrrrry interesting from a meta perspective, that Jamie doesn't blame the victims - unless he is one of them, as he was here, then it's all his fault). But he takes accountability anyway, he OVERexplains why he still had the video, and apologizes. He's the only one of Keeley's exes who shouldered the blame for her and through which assured her it was no fault of her own. Moreover, since he was the one she sent it to, he would have the best idea of how it felt to have that be out there on the internet. They both needed that hug. He's just such a good egg!! And the greatest part of all is that that person was inside him all along, he just didn't have the courage to let people (himself included) see it. And I completely agree about Phil needing at the very least an Emmy nom. He's always done fantastic work, but this season especially. This speech alone is a wonderful example. It's got heart, but also there's his comedic line about the password that in someone else's hands could come off as forced or ruin the tone of the scene. But it's seamless for him.
I thought that when Jack told Keeley she wasn't the only one hacked and that a reality star with a big dick also was hacked that it might have been Jamie since he was on Lust Conquers All reality show.
@@jq8913 Jack knows exactly who Jamie is - Keeley’s footballer ex - so I doubt she’d refer to him “and some random reality guy” (or refer to him at all). My assumption is it’s Danthony, the guy Jamie lost to.
We are hoping that, but I'm wondering if they will bring up that he is Nigerian. Many people from counties like that can have very homophobic mindsets, even after years away from this settings. He may have to come to terms with his own prejudice when he realizes it's his best friend. Like how everyone in the locker room has a different opinion on the leaked photos until it was their friend it happened to.
I think that when he nodded, he was saying that he understood, but he needed a moment to come up with the right response. I’m sure Isaac will support Colin. That’s just the kind of person he is.
@@SquiresIsle Can anybody actually believe that Apple, with Tim Cook as CEO, would actually allow their largest attraction on their platform to do that? Anybody thinking that should slap themselves until those thoughts leave their head. Your reactions are fantastic! I love watching reactions in general because I like seeing how other people experience the emotional highs and lows of my favourite shows, but your reactions have additional value. You notice things that most others don’t, and you appreciate the depth to the characters and the overall writing on a different level. Thank you!
5:32 🤣🤣🤣 That's a new one to me. 7:38 Trent Crimm (Independant) dropping Truth Bombs.💣🎆 11:56 Bye Jack, been nice knowin' ya. 🖕 16:10 Damnit Roy, way to fumble the ball. 👎 20:12 As a massive Beatles fan, this one was never a particular favourite. This scene, however, is truly Classic Ted Lasso. ❤🥰 23:22 Smart, funny, gorgeous, and now clairvoyant as well? You are a Dangerous Woman, Mi'Lady. 😍
That little "woof!" Trent Crimm The Independent (his full legal name) gave as the Diamond Dogs dispersed was a-freaking-dorable! James Lance is brilliant. Also, I'm happily married and about to celebrate my 20th wedding anniversary, but boy HOWDY do I have a crush on TCTI! :)
Firstly, congrats on your wedding anniversary! But I also 100% support crushing on Trent Crimm The Independent. One of the many examples of incredible character growth on this show 😄
@@movienightwithjacqui Aww, thanks. You know what we're doing to celebrate? Two weeks in the UK!!! The first week will be in London (mostly) and the 2nd week will be in Scotland. And while in London, we're doing a Ted Lasso tour!!!!!!! So excited!
I also don't think Jack is a bad person, but I think she's (being the daughter of a billionaire) just used to getting everything and people just doing what she wants. And she's used to having her dad fixing everything. Like the first thing she did was call her dad for advice, then gave Keeley the statement her dad's lawyers made, and then when Keeley refused and Jack went "please, just do it" was veeeeeery rich girl used to getting her way. Again: doesn't make her a bad person, just out of touch and unable to relate to Keeley in, who doesn't come from money (she's "new money")
OH I also see her as how Rebecca could've turned out if she hadn't had that traumatic event with her dad when she was a kid... because of that, she turned on her dad, refused his money, went on to be a bartender, so she learned how to relate to people, she learned how to fend for herself, she learned compassion, human conection. Jack hasn't had any of those experiences, when she says "I'll fix it" she means I'll call my dad and he'll fix it, which is what she did.
She literally shamed Keeley for what she did with what she put online…how does that not make her a bad person? Along with the Red Flags from last episode?
@@CWazBroadwayBandGeek like Jacqui said, she made a mistake, she handled the situation poorly. But she didn't intend to hurt Keeley, she was trying to help and it was only after Keeley didn't do what she wanted that she lashed out. Again, I am not condoning her behavior, it WAS shitty, and I'm glad she's gone. But doing a bad thing does not make one a bad person. For example, Nate has done several shitty things, he is not a bad person. Jamie has done a shit ton of shitty things, he is not a bad person. Rebecca spent most of season 1 doing shitty things, she is not a bad person. Roy did a shitty thing TO KEELEY this episode, he is not a bad person. Rupert IS a bad person because the reason he does shitty things is for the purpose of hurting people, he is manipulative and a dick. Jack had manipulative behavior in past episodes but when Keeley pointed them out she apologized and stopped, because she didn't mean to do those things with the intention of manipulating her, she just doesn't know any better.
@@gi8228 I see Jack wearing two hats. The girlfriend hat and the lady who put ALL of the money into this business venture. I believe many of Jack's comments that were definite mistakes while wearing the girlfriend hat, can be normal responses if you wear the "I need to protect this business hat." Trust me, not the comments she made about not being proud of what she did, that was wrong altogether. We know Keeley did nothing wrong, yet there could still be a serious backlash with that video release and there is a threat of losing business, specially for a PR Firm. I am not saying what Jack did was right, but if this conversation were explained from a funder hat in an office environment, it may not be considered as harsh.
Jamie to his team mates: "The only people to blame are the dickheads who steal your shit and put it online". Jamie to Keeley: "It's my fault". Seems like Jamie doesn't shame the victim unless the victim is himself. His father really did number on him, the poor lad.
I absolutely love the details you see and point out. One that I had not noticed until I watched this was all the army men standing on the wooden shutters on the window as Ted turns away at the end. I think we've seen the last of Jack, Roy needs the redemption now. "Idiot moment" is a fitting comment on Roy's serious brain-fart. My previous "bitter-sweet" comment was what you said in your analysis, and I think you were spot-on regarding Isaac. I don't believe he was disappointed in Colin's homosexuality, he was disappointed in the lack of trust. I think Isaac would support Colin and stand between him and anybody who would "attack" him. Rebecca was the "hero" in this episode, the one both Keeley and Ted turned to, and she played the role admirably. I completely believe that you are correct that "Ted is going home." Jason was not able to "fix" his relationship with Olivia, but they remained friends (like Ted and Michelle) and the kids are shared between them, but he's going to "fix" it in his creation. The ultimate "wish scenario" and something many writers do. Trent has become such a great character for this season, and he was setup so well from the very beginning. Your reactions are simply the best! Accurate and deep, seeing things other reactors do not and I just cannot tell you how much I appreciate you! Thanks so much for doing this for us!!
This is why you don't date your boss. If Jack had only been Keeley's boss, her asking her to issue a statement to ensure her investment is very reasonable. Keeley is in PR.
I do think, given Roy's deep anger issues, that he was actually actively fishing for whom Keeley had sent the video to in order to know who to physically confront for leaking the photos to the press. Which was neither what Keeley needed at that moment (or would have wanted in any moment), as well as not really being his business anyway. He really wasn't thinking of her when he did it.
🎵Hit the road Jack, and don’t ya come back No more, no more, no more, no more🎵 - Keeley, babe, forget her. Roy isn’t too far away. I’ve said it once before, and I’ll keep saying it because some people can’t seem to understand this: Ted is NEVER going back to Michelle! It would make absolutely no sense, and it would be such a character regression. And besides… THE GREEN MATCHBOOK! Hello, he’s meant to be with Rebecca. Rebecca holding Keeley while saying “I’ve got you.”…yeah, I cried. I’m really hoping Isaac isn’t homophobic. I’m just hoping he’s just hurt Colin didn’t trust him with coming out to him.
@@_abracadabra And she didn’t have chemistry with boat guy or Sam, so…the only one that makes sense is Ted. And what does Rebecca being “sophisticated” have to do with anything? She picked up on his “Tedisms”, she gets his jokes, she’s the only one out of EVERYONE at AFC Richmond…who understands what he’s going through because she’s gone through some of the same things.
@@hcroussette The way the camera focused on Ted and Rebecca’s matchbooks was deliberate. And it’s a callback to when Ted gave Rebecca the green army man. Conveniently the company that made the green army men…called them MATCH BOX green army men.
Girl yes! 17:54 I say that all the time ever since I asked for something during “anxious friend override” and was so totally surprised by the answer that I changed my whole perspective on asking for things and/or boundaries
So jack obviously handled the situation terribly and didn't even consider Keely's feelings, Roy was really trying to do the right thing but wasn't able to get over his own insecurities and Jaimie managed to just be there for her...
I mean it’s probably a bit easier to be supportive when you feel like it was your fault. The thing that made Roy insecure didn’t have to be something Jamie worked through.
Love your reactions. My career was television, and when I see your clapper board sculpture & USC SCA degree behind you, it makes me smile. So cool to have someone who actually knows something about the industry talking about what a magnificent piece of work this thing is. Only thing I could add is that when you watch it the 2nd or 3rd time, notice that when Ted holds on to Michelle's bag as she's leaving - Michelle's not wearing an engagement ring. The hot debate among my friends right now is whether she's hiding it..or perhaps she said no? 🤣 Still undecided on which episode they should deliver to the Emmy committee. I still think E6 ("Sunflowers", the Amsterdam episode) is the best of the bunch so far. I want to see Dunster get his Emmy too - maybe the bicycle scene can finally do it for him. But this one? The 'real Keeley' (Hazell) could win Outstanding Writing for it. Also, I finally discovered Jack's accent, but I kind of cheated. Stumbled across an interview here on YT with the actress that plays her. She mentioned that it's the first time she's done a role in her natural voice instead of mimicking an accent - and that she's from South Africa. Her name's Jodi Balfour. Was also in "For All Mankind", and "The Crown", IIRC (neither of which I've seen).
I did notice the ring/bag bit, and I think it just got accidentally cut from the RUclips version 😅 Thank you for making sure, though! I really appreciate the kind words, and Jack's accent makes sense! I couldn't quite place it either, but listening to it again, I can hear South Africa. I haven't seen "For All Mankind," but I've seen "The Crown," so I'll have to go back and check out her scenes, see if I recognize her 😄
For all his talk of the right to privacy of those who were hacked, Isaac directly violated Colin's privacy by literally stealing the phone out of his hands. Haven't seen any reactors realize this on their first watch, but it seems like an obvious bit of irony to me. While I hope his response to this revelation is positive and supportive, I'm concerned that Isaac might let Colin down in a big way. Not expecting it, just concerned.
With the theme of people having bad moments, I think the question is why - Ted has bad reasons, but course corrected (yay support!), Isaac didn't have a BAD reaction - he had a imperfect response (not providing the support we would have liked him to) but he was obviously hurt. Jack had (IMO) the worst reaction because she had many many chances to do it right, and almost did so several times, but in the end it was a purely selfish move to blame Keeley and ask for the statement. For Roy, I believe he was in "protector" mode where he wanted to avenge Keeley (shades of "Avenge me, Keeley!") - he wants to deliver punishment to the person(s) responsible for that harm, because that's what he knows.
The feeling I have is that as you mentioned, Ted is going home, Nate is managing Richmond and (my prediction) Isaac will be okay with Colins homosexuality and support Colin, Rebecca gets her Dutchman and lets Higgins run Richmond with her support, Roy and Keeley get back together and Jamie will be happy as well, although I don't know how (after the last episodes I wonder how could one not wish him happiness). Dani, Sam and Jamie seem like they could form an unstoppable Total Football team under Nates management. Rupert will be embarrassed, sell Westham, where Coach Beard will take over management with William as his right hand and they form an amicable rivalry. MAYBE. But we definitely still need another appearance of Phoebe to knock some sense into Roy.
A) Isaac is just a bloke, plain and simple. He's obviously fundamentally decent (as we've seen), but he's a product of bloke culture and not above the occasional insensitivity (as we've seen). He is, above all, honest. I would take 100 Isaacs, even with the odd un-PC remark, over a single jackass who happens to be plugged in to the current "acceptable language". B) While Roy misstepped by asking Keeley about the video, his inner conflict and outward curiosity are completely natural, given his history with her and her history with a guy he's only just come to respect. Yes, the inquiry was a mistake, but the walk-back and sincere apology more than make up for it. I say, well done, Roy. You're entitled to your feelings.
I have seen so many articles and reviewers condemning Roy for what he asked about the video, and I hate it. Yes, its not the right thing to ask, but men, even men we like, are allowed to be imperfect. I hate that male characters are always held to that standard, they are either assholes, or they are perfect. I love that this show displays the inescapable truth that men, like women and everything in between, are flawed, but are still good despite their flaws. I think it points out a problem we have in our society that we expect perfection, and forget to praise ge and working on it. I'll get off my soapbox now.
Co-writer on this show credit to Keely Hazell, who plays Rupert's new wife Rebecca. She was an occasional topless Page Two model for a few years and also dated Jason Sudeikis for a while last year (I think they've since broken up). She had a sex tape leak back in 2007.
!!!!! Is this the mythical early upload?? Ive heard rumors about this but i never expected to live long enough to see the day!! As always i absolutely loved this episode!! It's a shame about Jack, i liked her, up until now she seemed to be making Keeley happy. I'm not sure what someone in her position could have really did to help the situation. I feel like some things in life you just have to ride out. But definitely not apologise for something someone else did to you
That's what makes this show special. Everyone is flawed and every human has bad moments. No one is 100% good or 100% bad. That said, I'm not on board with Michelle "finding" her feelings for Ted again. If that happens and Ted just jumps back in to his former life I will be extremely disappointed. I sincerely hope that if Michelle wants him to come back to her at the end of the series that he has one of those epiphanies that she made her choice to move on and in doing so freed him to become something better in a brand new life. He appreciates that and says so. But also that he realizes he doesn't have those feelings for her anymore and leaves her there by the side of the road, same way she did to him in season one. She will finally have to feel the full weight of consequences of her decisions. She can be the one to pine for her old life while Ted goes home and feels better than ever being closer to his son again.
I think it's so obviously hinting that Ted is going home, I kinda think that this isn't actually what's going to happen. After all, his life is here. His future is here. He's torn between Kansas where his son is and London where his future is, but he can't sacrifice either. I think his revelation about Total Football was actually a revelation about what he needs to do for himself, not pick a position and stay there, but remain mobile, going where he's needed, whether it's Kansas or London. So I think the show will end with him figuring out a way to live in both worlds.
At 19:04, this reminded me of something. I was dating a woman, older and wealthier, part of the town's community, had her hand in a bunch of different things, rubbed shoulders with the 'local elite' so to speak. Anyways, there was an annual festival going on in the city, we attended, we're walking around and mingling with people, she's making introductions and always referred to me as just simply "friend," despite us being involved for many months at this time. I didn't react visibly at the time, but it stuck in my brain. Now, I wasn't as bothered as I probably should have been at the time because I guess to be associated/involved with a certain class or group of people, you have to 'keep up appearances' and I guess declaring a more serious union, especially with a younger guy, might have been a bad look? I don't know. Anyways, fast-forward a months later, is it any surprise the relationship ended?
9:18 Roy will finally be part of the Diamond Dogs when he's ready to get past his (16:10) insecurities and finally get serious about Keeley. 13:51 The best scene in this episode is the locker room. The guys give viewpoints on the 'protocols', but the second it's Keeley, they all pull out their phones. And I know it's played as 'because it's personal now', but I don't think that's it. TL always gives a human face to the problems. They don't give stats on mental health in sports; they show us the lead having panic attacks. The same is true here. Yes, there are multiple (even reasonable) ways to look at the issue, but when you think of it as affecting people, there's only one right answer for this team; and even the people who argued the other side don't hesitate to act.
Another season one callback to when Keeley and James split up. When Keeley apologised to Roy, she said to Jamie you have to show accountability for your actions. Its only took him 3 seasons but he's there. I think Dr Jacob did propose and Michelle said no. This is the information that Rebecca has and it won't be reveled till the second last episode. tying in with the "I wanted you to fail" & "I've been dating Sam" revels from the previous seasons. With Nate and Jade - I think Jade will be the one to pick up on Nate's second guessing himself or at least give him the confidence to be himself and not Bully Nate from season 2. Colin & Isaac - No.1 idea, Isaac is also gay (though that's going off stereotypes, snappy dresser, well read, hairdressing skills and trying to hide any emotions by being overly manly & tough) This is unlikely.... but you never know. No.2 idea, Isaac doesn't care, It's none of his business. The thing that does get him angry is that his friend didn't trust him. My thinking is there could be a bust up in training or more likely there is something that happens on the field and someone say's something to Colin and Isaac retaliates. This would cause a suspension allowing Sam to take the role of Captain as seen in the trailers.
Roy’s arc through this season is the one thing that leaves me feeling there could be a fourth season. We haven’t focused on him much, but when we do it seems like he hasn’t been able to face how he feels about his breakup with Keeley. He’s well aware that he’s taking his feelings out on other people (stating as much in Amsterdam), but he has yet to find a more constructive outlet. So I’m really interested in how this is going to play out in the last third of the season-especially if this is going to be the last one. In terms of Colin and Isaac, I do think Isaac’s response has a lot to do with the fact that Colin is his best friend and that was how Isaac found out he was gay. And since this show has been an exploration of masculinity in sports from the beginning, I imagine another part of it is understanding the intersectionality of masculinity and LGBTQ+ identities. Most men, particularly those in sports, are socialized to see masculinity in a very specific way, which has made it incredibly difficult for LGBTQ+ players like Colin to be open about who they are and how they feel. Isaac’s fantastic, don’t get me wrong, he’s a good person, a good character, and a good leader. But he’s just as human as everyone else, and he’s not immune to the socialization that’s part of the sport’s culture (I believe in season 2, at one point a character says something and he responds with “that’s gay, bruv,”). So I think, like the other players, Isaac might have to come to grips with what he’s been taught about masculinity and how that relates to his friend and teammate being gay. Though I do agree with the majority of fans in that he’ll get through his issues and stand by Colin, and I think the rest of the team will follow.
I was initially really upset with Roy for fumbling the ball and being selfish to Keely, but I read an article that helped me see what they were doing. Roy Kent is clearly very insecure and doesn't think he's deserving of love. Usually this is shown to us by seeing Roy hurt himself but this showed us that his insecurities hurt the people around him just as well. I hope they do something with that scene.
I don't think Issac is mad that Colin is gay either, but what he did snatching his phone and invading his privacy was unacceptable and hugely hypocritical. I hope he realises this and things get resolved later...
Jacqui have you seen Shrinking? Bill Lawrence, co-creator of Ted Lasso and many of the same writers including Brett Goldstein! There's only one season but it was just renewed and I think you would love it!
So what happened at the very end? Did the doc get into the cab with Michelle? All that I am certain about is that Henry didn't fist-bump the doc. I am hoping they find a way to show Jamie's dad once again this season.
Re: The Emmy Award. Big Bang's Jim Parsons won 4 Emmys and a Golden Globe and was the highest paid television actor. All for playing the exact character for years. Community's Danny Pudi never even got a nod. While showcasing a very wide range of legitimate talent. Emmys mean nothing to now. I'm still salty about that.
For me, there's no reason to wait for the last episodes.... 'Ted Lasso' and 'The West Wing' are the two best written TV series of all time (And TL writter's room... it's not over.... you can still overtake Sortkin!). Oh yeah... the lovely redhead who loves that iconic dumb-dimb... she's doing a pretty good job too!
I am concerned that the fairly dramatic character development for Jamie helps feed into the mindset that people with toxic immature tendencies can be “fixed.” While it is possible to develop into less of a shit person, it tends to take many years of going back and forth developing empathy and when it is presented as a thing that can happen over a year I worry it might encourage people who are in relationships with emotionally abusive people to think if they can hold out and get some good meaningful apologies out of them then they will forever switch back to being the best version of themselves in a short time and never cheat or lie again
My theory for the end of the season: * Colin and Isaac have a talk in private. They hug it out. * Colin comes out, first to the team and then to the public at large. * A homophobic fan in the stands starts throwing slurs at Colin; Isaac runs up the stairs and attacks him. We’re all proud but Isaac gets put on the bench. * Sam becomes team captain, leading to the “I love you guys so very much” scene from the trailer. * Jack, feeling both hurt and pressured by her family, cuts ties with Keeley and funding for KJPR. They close up shop and Keeley comes back to Richmond. Barbara, being a Rebecca stan, comes with her. * Michelle realizes that Dr. Jacob took advantage of her in driving her and Ted apart, and breaks it off with him. * Ted goes back home to Kansas to be with his family. He starts to coach Henry’s soccer team. * Beard and Jane go off the grid and aren’t seen again until Burning Man. * Rebecca sells the club to a supporters’ trust: we get to see the pub lads in a boardroom with fancy suits. * Rebecca goes back to Amsterdam and her mystery Dutchman. * Showcasing all of the growth he’s done over the past three seasons, Jamie Tartt steps up to the coaching staff and fills Ted’s shoes.
Just wanted to say that your recognisation/quotation of Chicago (Cell Block Tango) in a previous video took me back to watching a lot of music(al) videos and it's been an adventure. I watched Chicago in film studies when I was about 17 and it still resonates today. ❤🧡💛💚🩵💙💜
As I watched this episode I may have been more excited to watch you watch it than watch it myself. Man, I just said watch a whole lot of times. Watch... watch. Yup the word has lost all meaning now.
Interesting take on people having not so good moments but hopefully not impacting or changing who they really are. I guess you could theoretically say the same thing about Jack although secretly I am rooting for Keeley to be back with Jamie (or Roy but now I am kind of hoping Jamie!). I initially thought the same thing, Ted is heading back to Kansas but I also see a world that is way different than the one he left (unless he and Michelle get back together but I am not really expecting that). Ted will have to find a new place to live and a new job and he won't see Henry every day like he did before so I am not sure that is the ending we are looking for. I know whatever the show does it will be amazing but I am a little torn... can we ship Rebecca and Ted again?
May or may not have noticed- When Ted holds onto the bag that Michelle is taking, he notices there's no new ring on her finger. Either there was no proposal, or it was one she didn't accept. Also, she looks back at Ted on the way into the cab, which is sort of romcom shorthand for lingering feelings.
I did notice it, but I think it accidentally got cut from the RUclips video. My bad 😅 There are definitely some hints at something coming back between the two of them, but I'm still not 100% sure how I feel about it. We'll have to see! Thank you for pointing those out!
Hey Jacqui, first off love your commentary and enthusiasm about these episodes. But I have to say I don't believe this is the last season of Ted Lasso, per say. They are inevitably going to do spin-offs. AppleTV+ is a great service and all. Lots of great programming. But I cannot imagine a show with this high of following, with this amount of Emmy clout is magically going to go away. Maybe it will not be called Ted Lasso anymore, but we have seen literally every single big time show getting their spin offs.
I have the Last Airbender DVDs on my shelf, and personally, I don’t think it has to be one or the other. We can appreciate Jamie’s character growth without dismissing Zuko’s. They both have had incredible character arcs, and they both deserve to be celebrated (:
@@punz7777 Couldn't agree more--so many great parallels between them, and they both deserve to be up in the pantheon of greatest character development 😄
Maybe Keeley dodged a bullet with Roy as he has shown a darker side than we knew and it’s disturbing. Also maybe Isaac is gay as well and didn’t know Collin is. That would be quite the plot twist! Can have more than one gay man per club! Also gay men don’t all know who other gay men are!
Doctor Jake - this dude has violated every ethical code of patient doctor relationship. In season 2 Ted described that Michelle’s therapist became their marriage counselor - he was the same guy! He weaseled his way in… hope she dumped him in Paris!
I liked Jack and Keeley, and I don't mind her turning out to be a dick, but it seemed weird that ALL the dickishness was crammed into a single episode. I mean sure, the lovebombing last week could be seen as a red flag. But then boom, this episode comes along, and she's just wrong at every turn. It seemed very weird, like they suddenly didn't have the actress for more episodes and had to get rid of her quick.
This episode was co-written by Keeley Hazell who plays Bex in the show and was part of the inspiration for the character Keeley. She’s done topless modelling and was part of the “Fappening” leak that this episode was based on.
Exactly right
Woah! That's so cool!! I didn't know she wrote for the show too!
My respect for the writers increases with every new thing I learn about them
Which one is Bex?
Cool to know. Thabks
The actual words Keely said to Jaime in S1 when she dumped him: Accountability matters.
Minor nitpick: the quote is “Being accountable matters”
Higgins sprinting down for the Diamond Dogs and then scolding Ted for making assumptions had me dying.
It was perfection, and Jeremy performed it perfectly! Hilarious and yet passionate.
I messed up" (it just looked like a face of guilt than anything to me)
The framing of Ted, Michelle and Dr. Jacob replicate the therapy session before they got divorced but Ted’s place replaced by Dr. Jacob. What a touch.
Wait. Did we actually see that?
That said, it's clear Dr. Unethical is history.
Brilliant catch - I hadn't realized that. This show is the absolute best at set-ups and call-backs - no other contenders are even in the same universe.
I am pretty sure Rebecca never called a private investigator
No she definitely didn’t 😊
A thing I noticed about Nate's growth over the last couple episodes was he response when Jade asked him about her morning breath. Nate from 2 episodes ago would have stammered, he would have tried (unsuccessfully) to evade the question, he might even have run away. But Nate now was comfortable enough to be honest. A major change just in this season.
Great point!
Two recurring themes throughout the show: Accountability, and Beard is a LEGEND!!!
Couldn't agree more!!!
My theory about Isaac is that he's more hurt that Colin didn't tell him he's gay than that he's homophobic at least that's what I hope
I agree with you.
I think that when he nodded, he was saying that he understood, but he needed a moment to come up with the right response. I’m sure Isaac will support Colin. That’s just the kind of person he is.
I hope so.
@@SquiresIsle Can anybody actually believe that Apple, with Tim Cook as CEO, would actually allow their largest attraction on their platform to do that? Anybody thinking that should slap themselves until those thoughts leave their head. Hahahahaha - Apple has F'you money and are based in Silicon Valley - I think the Twitter idiot (and sorry, I think anybody paying attention to Twitter an idiot) was just trying to get likes for an unnecessary statement/threat.
This episode was written by Keeley Hazel (who the character is loosely based on and plays Bex) who had very similar things happen to her.
Jamie: the only people to blame are the hackers that shared the photos
Also Jamie to Keeley: I'm sorry, it was all my fault
Your reactions are fantastic! I love watching reactions in general because I like seeing how other people experience the emotional highs and lows of my favourite shows, but your reactions have additional value. You notice things that most others don’t, and you appreciate the depth to the characters and the overall writing on a different level. Thank you!
This feels like a good video to revisit when seeing the Emmy nominations come out today.
What a treat to wake up to this video! I love your reactions to Ted Lasso. I cried with joy when Jamie took responsibility in this episode.
Thank you! And completely agree--such a beautiful moment!
I am being remarkably impressed by this season, especially with the writing. There has been character growth galore.
"Accountability matters, Jamie..." ❤
WE LOVE YOU JAMIE!!! we love Jamie just like you from S1 E1 till now
5:32 🤣🤣🤣 That's a new one to me.
7:38 Trent Crimm (Independant) dropping Truth Bombs.💣🎆
11:56 Bye Jack, been nice knowin' ya. 🖕
16:10 Damnit Roy, way to fumble the ball. 👎
20:12 As a massive Beatles fan, this one was never a particular favourite. This scene, however, is truly Classic Ted Lasso. ❤🥰
23:22 Smart, funny, gorgeous, and now clairvoyant as well?
So excited!
@@KMcDermott829 Aw! I'm a little jealous! Enjoy your trip, and the Ted Lasso tour! It sounds like a wonderful time 😄
I also don't think Jack is a bad person, but I think she's (being the daughter of a billionaire) just used to getting everything and people just doing what she wants.
@@PapaDartagnan Yeah, definitely agree!
Great analysis.
@@VolcanoGroupie Thank you, Kelly. What a very kind thing to say.
I hadn't made the connection between shite in nining armour and Jamie playing no. 9 until you mentioned it 🙂
I passed the Try Not to Sing challenge, but I was watching with headphones on while my 2-year-old napped, so extra motivation.

🎵Hit the road Jack, and don’t ya come back

- Keeley, babe, forget her.
I don't see sophisticated Rebecca ever getting with Ted "Aw Shucks" Lasso. They don't have that kind of chemistry AT ALL.
Technically, Sam passed out matchboxes to everyone that was at his restaurant, so the whole team has one
@@CWazBroadwayBandGeek Yeah, I"ve read that theory before and I really hope that doesn't come up
Of course Michelle knew the Dave Grohl fact, because if Ted knows a cool fact, you know he's gonna tell it to everybody, repeatedly, haha
Another reactor I watch said that just because Ted’s wife isn’t engaged doesn’t necessarily mean Jake didn’t ask….
There is no “Try Not To Sing Challenge” when it comes to The Beatles. If you don’t join in with Hey Jude then you’re probably already dead.
Hear hear 😊
Jamie dressed as a panda in that scene (white with dark eye spots on his hood) 😂
"What would you rather be, a lion or a panda?"
I agree 100% about Isaac. He was disappointed in himself and was ashamed
Still undecided on which episode they should deliver to the Emmy committee.
I love that the circle around your head looks like a soccer ball lol
I think they have clearly been leaning towards a Jamie and Keeley 2.0.
"Accountability matters, Jamie." AHHH so glad you loved that scene as much as I did. Jamie has matured so much.
Definitely a very personal (and possibly very cathartic) episode for her to write. I'm glad she got the chance 😊
But definitely not apologise for something someone else did to you
Episode 9 is going to totally break you. Prepare yourself.
Remember that Nate was the 1 who came up with the name of the Diamond Dogs.
Another great episode! Rebecca def friend of the episode! ♥
I just want a friendship like Keeley and Rebecca 😄 That's all I want in life
Ted is definitely going home and Nate is gonna Manage Richmond I can feel it.
Surprised Jacqui missed the “green matchbook” in Ted’s pocket. 😉
No wedding ring in the final scenes
Love your Tesco Value references. 😂 Great video as always. Sunshine on a Sunday.

Well this is early and I am here for it. Let me stop typing and start watching.
Tesco value Ted. Amazing insight
One of Jacqui’s best lines!
When Keely and Jack were playing crazy golf, Keely was wearing the outfit from Pretty Woman that Julia Roberts had.
You're right! I hadn't thought about that--great detail! 😄
Excited to rewatch with Sam and you.
Love Ted Lasso and your reviews
Thank you! I love that I get to share and connect with others who love the show as much as I do! 😄
It's on my list! I haven't had a chance to watch it yet, but I'm dying to 😄
I love your reaction and can't wait to see this season again with Sam as your co-commentator (I hope you guys put a reaction up on RUclips).
We will! As soon as the season is done, we're going to go back and watch it together (Sam hasn't seen any of this season) 😄
So what happened at the very end? Did the doc get into the cab with Michelle? All that I am certain about is that Henry didn't fist-bump the doc.
I am hoping they find a way to show Jamie's dad once again this season.
Henry didn’t fist bump him and when he tried to kiss Michelle she pushed Henry’s bag into his arms. She then looked back wistfully at Ted.
You've said repeatedly that Robert is Palpatine. That means Jade is Padme. I wonder what happens when she meets Rupert.
I stand by that assessment! TL and TWW will definitely go down as some of the best written television in history! And thank you for the kind words 😊
Prediction: Ted & Michelle will get back together, he'll return to America and Nate will be Richmond's coach
I am concerned that the fairly dramatic character development for Jamie helps feed into the mindset that people with toxic immature tendencies can be “fixed.”
While it is possible to develop into less of a shit person, it tends to take many years of going back and forth developing empathy and when it is presented as a thing that can happen over a year I worry it might encourage people who are in relationships with emotionally abusive people to think if they can hold out and get some good meaningful apologies out of them then they will forever switch back to being the best version of themselves in a short time and never cheat or lie again
Girl you look beautiful. Great video as usual
Thank you! 😄
As a child of divorce, they should keep that ocean between them. And I'm saying this ten years after and they still manage to be difficult
Great episode... I really hope Jack doesn't be a b***h and stop funding Keeley
My theory for the end of the season:
* Colin and Isaac have a talk in private.
I like this. I really hope they address that what Dr. Jacob did was an abuse of power and completely immoral.
Just wanted to say that your recognisation/quotation of Chicago (Cell Block Tango) in a previous video took me back to watching a lot of music(al) videos and it's been an adventure.
I watched Chicago in film studies when I was about 17 and it still resonates today. ❤🧡💛💚🩵💙💜
Beautiful!
As I watched this episode I may have been more excited to watch you watch it than watch it myself. Man, I just said watch a whole lot of times. Watch... watch. Yup the word has lost all meaning now.
I'm having "semantic satiation" flashbacks to season one 😂 Thank you for the kind words, and for joining me this season!
@@movienightwithjacqui It will be fun to go back and watch again with you & Sam at some point
If they’re singing Hey Jude in a Richmond pub surrounded by Richmond supporters then the words they are singing are not “Hey Jude”.
TO be fair, this whole season, all the episodes are too short.
The call backs are 10/10 this season.
Couldn't agree more! I can't believe we only have four episodes left! 😭
If you are that impressed by Jamie's character arc, you must have not seen Avatar the last airbender
I have the Last Airbender DVDs on my shelf, and personally, I don’t think it has to be one or the other. We can appreciate Jamie’s character growth without dismissing Zuko’s. They both have had incredible character arcs, and they both deserve to be celebrated (:
@@movienightwithjacqui I think my comment maybe came across snobbier than i meant it to be.
I meant it in a sense "If you like X, you would love Y"
Yes, I also remember Ted said he felt he was being set up. Jake's a snake.
Why do you hate the doctor so much? He didn't do anything wrong. 😂
I love how much of a loser Nate is.
When the Dr Jacob scene came up....I couldn't sit down. I was "Nope, BS, Nope". I believe it was totally disrespectful by his wife to do that.
This was the weakest episode of the whole series for me, but the next one is excellent
Fun fact, this is the lowest rated episode of Ted Lasso on Imdb.
Kinda derserved, it was pretty bad and a far cry from the series peaks
Jamie dressed as a panda in that scene (white with dark eye spots on his hood) 😂
"What would you rather be, a lion or a panda?"
