  • houngoungagne has opened up the discussion around counter strike skins gambling once again. With how strong counter strike is looking today from a playerbase and market perspective, the biggest concern to anyone invested is the rising desire for legislation. If the community continues to trendtowards the direction it has gone the last few years, all of this may be over soon.

    10:45 yea you can, the return of opening cases is determined by a free market. VALVe will earn USD 2.50 no matter what. It's a fixed charge vs house advantage, so it's not considered conventional gambling. It is the same principle as opening pokemon booster packs which has been done by minors for the past 25 years.

      exactly, if community was smart they would sell every blue for at least 2.50 usd to break even. It's our (community) fault cases are such a money drain, though in this scenario cheapest knives would be close to 1k usd

      @@Juggernaut-bz1pt The blue items will not be sold for $2.50 due to the huge supply. If the price were fixed at $2.50 on the Steam market, a black market would emerge. If I can continue unboxing cases without losing money, and let's assume there's a 0.5% chance of unboxing a $1,000 USD knife, then I would have an infinite money glitch! Hahaha. You're probably the type who would fall into the trap of thinking communism and socialism are good and work

    Very well articulated video! I have dialed back myself on gambling, however in the past I recorded most of my knife pulls (over a dozen) and never posted them due to the morality with it, part of me wants to, another doesn't. I don't know if using those clips to describe the gross loss of money even with exceptional luck will protray a message to stop convincingly. We need more people with morality like you to spread awareness to stop gambling. Maybe there's ways to get other content creators on board to spread these important messages. I know there's never going to be an end all, but saving as much of the new player generation from this vice is a debate needed to be had.

      Unfortunately many don't really seem to be too bothered by the fact that they're promoting gambling to kids. Could be partially due to the lucrative nature of said sponsorships, ignorant people in any case. I wish streaming platforms would be more strict when it came to gambling, it's been going on for way too long..

    Was gambling on cs go roll with some younger friends in Discord and I had to explain to them so many times that they should never do this and that the money is already lost. Thank you for the honesty as well.

    Governments should have no say in how people spend their hard earned money. Lets look at bitcoin for example. As an impossible to regulate asset, anyone can do with it as they please. Even gamble or buy drugs. I think thats the future and governments need to adapt. Sadly not many people see it this way.

      @@gtVel Parents are 100% responsible for raising their kids right. government bans dont help. Cigarettes are banned, and kids can still get them if they try hard enough. Alcohol is banned and kids still drink if they want to. the ones which are raised right dont do it even if they could.

      What Im trying to say that nothing will change even if skins or trading skins get banned. There are ways of gambling which are unbannable (like using bitcoin to fund your non regulated gambling account overseas with VPN) Government ban would just harm the responsible people who are in the skins bussinesses.

    • @Mantos777
      @Mantos777 2 месяца назад

      @@makovapi Most people are unaware and need the government to make e.g. hard drugs illegal. Hard drugs are difficult to obtain, preventing individuals who use them at parties from becoming addicted and ruining their lives and their families' lives. Not everyone has responsible parents who are good figures and role models for children. If I want a nuclear bomb in my backyard, should the government let me do that? I will use my own hard earned money, of course. You live in an ideal world, mate which is not realistic.

    "For my own financial reasons, I'm willing to potentially harm the development of children and young adults to maintain that value" - That's chilling, imagine if 'traders' and 'investors' would have to read and accept such a statement before buying and selling skins, how many people do you think would still engage with the marketplace then

    I hope that Valve with cs2 will bring at least age restriction after a certain amount of money spent and ban or introduce new id methods for any bot involved with these gambling sites.
    As many young kids i started betting on csgo lounge my inventory by the age of 13. Thank god i didn't bet any of my money. Seeing the addiction percentage of online gambling sites brings a cold chill in my spine. Young kids risked their future for a fucking videogame, it's disgusting

    People should stop complaining about gambing and enjoy the game. Its not going anywhere EVER. Just remember if you are gambling as a kid you have bad parents, and you really need self responsibility because things get even tougher when you grow up. Valve has gifted people a way to get rich investing, if other idiots want to lose all their cash gambling thats on them, but its not an issue that any trader or player should worry about. I hope gaming videos die, I know everyone is jumping on the bandwagon but its sad seeing some youtubers (not you) whine all the time instead of focusing on investing.

      Yes, many kids have bad parents. They may start gambling at 14-17 years old and become addicted, possibly accumulating debts that ruin their lives. Is it their own fault? They should have been wiser at 14 years old, right? Even kids with great parents fuck up, remember that.
