I have those racks and love them. I got silicone wrap things that go on each spool to hold the end of thread in place so it’s not hanging gown getting tangled.
Yeah I believe our drill bit was 3/16. We just used drywall screws and those are pretty standard in width. #8 screws. 1 1/2 - 2 inch screws would probably be better to use since it has to go through the rack too.

We used 1 1/4 inch screws.

What brand of thread do you use ?
I like maxilock for my sergers
