Mason McCormick Draft Profile:
- The 'Good' from Chat Sports' Tom Downey (@whatgoingdowney on Twitter):
High football IQ, good technical skills, strong in both run and pass blocking.
- via The Athletic's Dane Brugler:
McCormick doesn’t consistently play up to his testing numbers, but he has good eyes and feet in pass protection and outstanding physicality in the run game. He projects as a Day 1 backup (at all three interior line positions) who can become a starter...
GRADE: 4th Round
- via PFF:
McCormick brings a mauling mentality with explosive athleticism to the guard position. He's a tad stiff in the hips which limits his flexibility but he has starting potential in a zone-blocking scheme.
- Downey's 'Bad':
Limited lateral mobility; Struggles against fast pass rushers; Needs to work on technique consistency.

They have more needed on defense. Should have taken Cam Hart. This is the first pick Khan has bad that I don't like these past two years.
B+ only cause I like the CB's left more calen carsen and Tampa who Baltimore just took fuuuuuck
This is not remotely a confusing pick. We can debate all day about the need for another position. Here’s my point: with this selection the Steelers have added five offensive linemen counting the two from 2023. Throw in Mt Washington and that six. The O line has been ignored for years and it’s about damn time. Fix the issue upfront and all else follows. Nothing on offense works well without protection.
they really aren’t playing games with the o line any more they drafting depth but it’s really really good depth he’s starting caliber
Was confused by this pick , but injuries happen and it’s so important to keep the strength of your line with depth .
Same. He looks promising but we have more pressing needs (CB / SS). At this point the only CB I am would be interested in is Cam Hart, but we need a DT as well (Cam probably playing his last year / years).
I was confused too but when he explained the possible James Daniel’s contract piece, it made more sense.
Maybe this will help with your confusion. Not every pick will be a year 1 starter. Hope that helps!

@@RumHutProductions yes, but there were a lot of year 2 impact players still on the board, and at positions of need: TJ Tampa (CB), Jaden Hicks (S), Mekhi Wingo (DT), which is the only reason it is a little confusing. But, it's fine, I think. He can be a contributor year 1. I suspect AS wants to use him as a pulling guard in his wide zone run scheme.

I'm thrilled with it let's go
TJ Tampa
Ravens got him 👀
A+ draft
I hope our last 2 picks in the 6th round will both be defense in the secondary
I should have drafted a conditioned coach keep all these guys healthy
Good value pick - Steelers have been all him. Fits the scheme - position flexibility - HUGE B+
Such a Andy Weidl pick and I love it. He’s a Wyatt Teller 2.0
It's way too early to get excited about the Steelers, but it is difficult not to when you see all these great changes they are making.
Tj Tampa was right there
I wished they would have grabbed Tampa.
@@coreytaulton3322 I think most of us feel the same way...
And the ratbirds got him
I wanted them to get Tampa, also but we neglected the Oline for at least 5 years and whined about it every year.😅
I think this is Daniel's replacement since his contract ends after this season and will save some cap room. They also have some cap space and might go after at least a CB in free agency. 🤞🏾🤞🏾🤞🏾
I wanted Tampa too, but I think this pick was because James Daniels will be a FA next year and Mason will learn from Daniels then become the starter next year as opposed to us paying more money to Daniels.
Wanted them to go Corner myself but everybody's forgetting we drafted a guy named Corey Trice last year to fell into our laps in the seventh round! He just got hurt for the year in training camp😮
Trice was red flagged during last seasons draft because of knee concerns and low and behold his knee blew out
Hey, we can only hope he can perform at the Professional level but, so far, we have nothing giving us hope on that front. We'll see...
not disappointed, my main concern was OL, was feccked up for yrs, can sign or trade for wr/cb later
James... Fautanu is going to be going to RT... he was asked on his Pittsburgh tour and he said he expects to be at RT but wanted to learn and excel at both positions.
Grade A. Offensive line needed an upgrade and now set for the future. The next 2 pics corner and defensive lineman
I think they're gonna get a slot corner in Jairus Monroe or MJ Devonshire. Cam Hart is still available as well. Would LOVE for them to get Cam Hart for the boundary, but there's still a couple of slot options as well. Will be interesting to see if they're still there in the 6th.
Cam is the last Outside Press CB I am interested, but he'll have to make it to pick 178
Newman out of TCU is still available, you can't rely on signing undrafted free agents because you're gambling that a player prefers your team more than 31 others
"A" Value pick. Stack those trenches.
ONCE UPON A TIME INN HOLLYWOOD
I was confused with this pick since TJ Tampa was right there. But now thinking about it, it OG James Daniels is a FA next year. So if the plan is for Mason to backup and learn from Daniels and then replace Daniels next year when he goes to FA i will love this pick only if that’s the intention
Thought this guy was plan B if they couldn't get a center so surprised to see him picked here. Hopefully he becomes a starter at guard in 2025.
6th round should get Jalen Coker WR and Kristian Boyd
Not gonna lie: I feel like both 6th round picks were throw-aways. Neither of those guys gonna ever see the field...I mean, maybe, possibly, Ryan Watts might play a down or two after one of our CB's gets hurt, the other gets suspended, etc... LOL!!!
CB or WR should have been taken
12:30 INN HOLLYWOOD
I think he might be the replacement for Daniels
Why not Tampa?
Need a CB and DT in the 6th
You got your wish. Did you like them? I don't hate on Logan Lee, but Ryan Watts? Feel like he will be lucky to make the practice squad. We're gonna need to pick up a CB from somewhere...
Great pick had him mocked high 3rd 👊
Bring back cam Sutton !!!
This is to replace Daniels if he wants too much money next year
Another older rookie.
Good depth.
The CB room remains sketchy.
JPJ misses any time, Steelers are fucked.
No D-line help.
Time to give Chandon Sullivan a call.
I like Cam Hart
The last corner left that I am interested in. we'll see. I'm starting to feel like the Steelers don't feel CB is a need.
I guess so. They clearly don’t think it’s that big of a need or don’t feel the players that have been available or guys that they like for the system, but they better do something because we are still short a corner. I feel like they created a bunch of cap room for a reason not sure what yet. I think they’re going to create more soon as well
Good pick not great I was hoping for a CB but it does let us build our line how we want it to be and I'm excited to see how we do

I don't mind taking another OL but I would have grabbed Van Pran at this spot.
And liked the video

C need corner
corey trice
B+
Maybe the Steelers took MM to keep him away from the Ratbirds?
They didn't want this damn bum😂 if we wanted to screw over the ratbirds we would of gotten Tampa
@@kennypickettsburner4089aii, he ain a bum but i do agree that we shouldve got tampa 🤦🏾♂️
@@Ayyshaddy yeah the pick has grown on me I guess we either sign Gilmore or seriously believe in a a 7th round pick Corey Trice to step up like he's a proven starter
TJ Tampa please 🙏 😭 😫
you want a 4.6 slow corner? yes he is tall... but he will get toasted. His future is at safety

F because Tampa was there now he’s Baltimore Khan great draft but this one dumb
A
Kamal Hadden or Dj James is are only savior now at CB. Cause Kris abrams draine aint gone make it.
Jack broderick will be left
Steelers have enough CBs .....Need DTs
I wouldn't argue that. Hoping we can still grab Jaden Crumedy in the 6th.
Need slot corner
We're bringing back a db gem very soon

I'm giving this a C-. Not so much because of who they picked, but who they didn't. TJ Tampa sitting RIGHT THERE! Jaden Hicks is there. I could not have passed on TJ Tampa who is a 2nd, early 3rd grade.
No one picked them at tgat point lol 😆
TJ TAMPA has no hands will be a bust 👊
@@danielporter5476 He don't have to catch it LOL. He's got a passer rating when targeted of 59.6. He might have clubs for hands but he finds the ball with them.
Didn't go until pick 130 for a reason.
let the pro;s do their job
