Watching your videos makes me miss my friends at the Ford dealer that I used to work at. I need to stop in and see those guys. Thanks for the videos Rich.
We just got on the waiting list for parts. Which to my understanding are on intergalactic back order. Our vin wasn't included in the SSM, thanks to your video it matched our complaint/condition. Eventually this could be a pretty serious problem because these cars don't have keyless and you're not getting in through the back LOL.
Man I do not miss that design of that plastic panel after you removed the door panel. My 08 lincoln mkz had that crap and I hated it . I noticed you working on a police car do you ever play with the lights and siren lol
Something to remember in 2023 when off warranty lol .. Question . So the manual lock button at the top of the door is cable controlled also ? If so how long has Ford been using a cable for the button lock ? The newest ford door panel i have had off was on a 2016 F-250 to replace a shattered window and it still had a metal rod from the latch to the manual button .
This reminds me -- do your power pedals still work on your Lincoln Town Car? They move with a plastic gear that always breaks. Mine doesn't work in my '03 Grand Marquis. A guy from Russia used to custom mill metal replacement gears but stopped selling them on eBay, they were like $90. Shame
Does Ford still install the armor package on the inside of police package explorers? I thought it was a pretty stand up thing when they announced they were going to do that to protect officers.
Got question, Ford trucks cost arm And leg brand new and even when they get older. Trucks in my price range for trim levels I like is 25-30k 2013- f150 Lariats, is 130k lot of miles on trucks, how long can these trucks last until engine and transmissions need replaced? I’m really liking the maverick Ford announced that’s something in my ball park for sure, but f150s those damn things don’t go down in price until their 40 years old lol
Had this recall done on my fusion. Passenger plastic crap lock broke n my ex almost fell out. I had to tie it up with an electric cord to get to the dealer!
I have the 2022 Ford polic Interceptor utility 3.0L, I haven't had any of these issues yet and hopefully I won't, the door does make a heavy sound when closing and the motor seems very strong. Door lock wise, it does feel similar to my 2015 mustang.
UPDATE!!!! Got the new assemblys from Ford. Looks like only the updated metal lock arms are available, we're transporting offenders again! Thanks for your help!!
Didnt see tye part number. Your videos usually show the part number. 2020 police interceptor.. will not lock or unlock with key. Fob still works but if it goes out i am Locked out..
@corey Babcock doubtful, Ford would have a wrongful death lawsuit if they sold these ballistic door inserts and didn't install them, eventually a department and family would have a headline news lawsuit. It might be Detroit Auto Show marketing, but the liability lawyers cancelled the item, Departments have to install them. Companies that make ballistic protection already have the testing and research, with a warning on length of use and storage conditions for it to be effective. I doubt Ford wants to do that work on certification for ballistic panels, unless they had a military contractor as well selling armored vehicles at that price. But US military budget and Law Enforcement budget is millions of dollars apart in spending. $1 million dollar a vehicle would get certified armor, $40k Explorer wouldn't b worth it. Just my opinion.
One of my back doors on my 2013 explorer just stopped working it's locked it won't unlock and I can't pull the little knob up and handle on the back doors does not release the lock so how do I go about fixing it when I can't get the door open much appreciated. Hoping the panel can be removed with the door closed but not on most cars.
Look at my Ford Explorer door trim repair and it shows how to get the door off but you'll have to do it with the door closed unfortunately and some of the tabs might break
5:08 Can you remove the lock thru the inside without removing all the window stuff? I'm a locksmith short on time...... I need to rekey the door locks on the same vehicle and can't I just remove interior door panel and use a tool to reach up in there to release the actual door cylinder at the 5:08 timestamp in video? Just loosen the 5mm on edge of door and remove handle and release that little plastic lever at 5:08 timestamp? I have tools that will reach up in their to release that plastic lever. Or does that whole assembly HAVE to come out 1st? PLEASE HELP!! Thanks!
@@FordBossMe thanks I got it. Just loosen the 5mm nut on edge of door and pull lock cylinder cap off and used a metal shim to release it. Thanks again!
@@FordBossMe Hey me again LOL Passenger side handle popped out from outside cant get it to pop back in. Does that 5MM nut have to be fully loosened or at a certain spot? Thanks in advance!
I don't know I'm not working again until Monday so I won't be able to get it to you until then but if you call up your local dealer and give them the VIN number and ask them for the updated assembly they can tell you what it is
I'm dealing with a ford dealer here and he's not sure if the part number he has is the updated one or not. So if I can get it next week to verify that would be sweet! Thanks for taking the time and your cool video!
Well it's where the lock cylinder goes into the plastic pivot housing it ends up binding up and wearing out that housing and rounding it out so now they went to a metal design instead of the plastic design
I don't like the way they adjust the belt rubber trim piece that goes across the window that keeps it centered because it puts too much pressure on the actual glass itself and slows it down almost at the point where eventually it's going to burn out the motor so I pulled him off trim the edges back and then put everything back on so it puts less pressure on the window and then they roll up faster
They need to recall all the ford's with that plastic locking mechanism thieves all ready know you just need to pop the handle up to break it and get in your car.
Yeah they still won't be able to just pop the handle open because of the Pivot Point it would literally have to spend a ton of time breaking into the car that way
Watching your videos makes me miss my friends at the Ford dealer that I used to work at. I need to stop in and see those guys. Thanks for the videos Rich.
Thanks for that. The integrity is strong with this one
Gotta love the reliability of plastic.
I’m a Honda gut but I’ve throughly enjoyed your videos man. Keep up the great work, cheer from San Diego, Cali.

Is pot metal really better than glass reinforced plastics? 🤔🤷🏻♂️

That's a door latch recall. Not the same as this video.
Just for future reference...😉😉
Make a video on how to unlock the back door of a Police Cruiser from the inside.

If you look at the year of the vehicle I was explaining it's not the same as yours it's been updated on yours
@@FordBossMe Yes thank you I did see that, I've seen ford claim to fix issues and not come through with it.
Hopefully my model has been spared.

I learned the automatic window relearn by accident! I was wondering why the window kept rolling back down after auto up. 😃
I was wondering if the base interceptor has a keyless antenna, just in case so you don't have to take the car out of service
Always excited to see new videos and yes I got the bell on 😎
It seems the new style Explorers seem to have a lot of problems. Is that the case in your opinion?
Cop cars yes

It's in the comments or my other video
Sorry
do you to de-power the SRS airbags 1st?
thanks!
I didn't

Amazing how much stuff is going on inside these doors nowadays

@@FordBossMeI'm looking for the part number too, just had to replace one on a 2020 with a used part.
Wish metal was standard....😓😖😖
Been locked out of patrol cars because of the door lock issue. First they get real hard to unlock then they just don’t unlock. Poor design somewhere.
Well it's where the lock cylinder goes into the plastic pivot housing it ends up binding up and wearing out that housing and rounding it out so now they went to a metal design instead of the plastic design

Fort Knox is less secure than this door panel lol
Wow so complicated and crappy
all plastic...typical ford
