      @elzaaltmann if you cannot afford to cate for your pets then surrender them..IF they had taken him to the vet straight away and then decided they couldn't afford treatment they could have surrendered him then and he'd be on the Rd to recovery now with a simple plate on the break..

    clearly the sheep have been horribly neglected, thank goodness they were able to get away and get help. As for the dog if the owners did not realise the poor dog is severewly injured , they should surrender thid dog so it can be rehomed'

    If Romeo was a child would they leave them with a sore leg for two weeks? Don’t have animals if you can’t afford to go to the vet

    I see several people being upset that the dog was put down for 'just a broken leg'.
    I am afraid that he wasn't put down because of the broken leg, but a NEGLECTED broken leg and lack of socialization.
    That bone was too damaged to be fixed and heal.
    Amputation was, most likely, the best medical option.
    But then the dog would need medical care for a while and he was not very well socialized, which would make him not very cooperative.
    They most likely did a behavioral assessment as well and it was decided that the time and money it would take to get him at a stage where he could be adopted, could be better spend on animals that would cost less to help.
    For example: vaccinate and neuter pups and kittens.
    Yes, it seems unfair, but the fault lays with those who own the animals and neglect them and not with the SPCA.

    I just love these episodes, now when animals are unwell of course, but the kindness & care shown to them by the workers. 🫶🏻💚

    He's like one of my kid's. Yeah right... do you chain up your kid's too? There is so much ignorance here, the dog won't let them touch the leg yet they still don't take it to the vet even though that's what the SPCA recommended. I think they wanted the SPCA to fix the dog for free! Well, they fixed him alright... the poor animal paid with it's life. Don't own animals if you can't afford vet bills!

      They probably tried to splint it. And then found out that the dog wouldn’t let them touch it. Cuz how else did she know that it was painful to the touch? I didn’t buy the oops, I made a bad indecision. Any layperson could tell that the bones in his leg were mush. The fact that he had already learned to get around on it, is nauseating. It’s been longer than 2 weeks ago. His X-ray appeared to show a fracture that was healing unhealthfully already.
      I didn’t get that euthanasia was the end of his story. It ended with the owner surrendering him. But no info about his status regarding ortho surgery or amputation. I don’t want to think that they euthanized him. So I’m not .

    I've been doing rescue for over 50 years. I keep hoping that people will change and start treating animals like they should be treated.
    I have a cat rescue in my house and I pay for everything out of my pocket. I just had number 501 fixed since 2018. Sadly due to the cost of vet care I am going to have to quit. It is so hard to stop helping the animals just because of cost. There is no other help for cats in my area. I live in Monticello Arkansas in the US and I swear that all the animals in town have spread the word to come to my house.
    I opened my door and a pitbull mom walked in and she brought her puppy to me. I am taking my neighbors to court for neglect and abuse of their 3 dogs.
    Sadly here animals are property with no rights and people are not required to care for them.
    People are going to have to speak up and get laws changed.

    At least make them put the dogs on a runner and have them see a vet once.

    It's always about the money. I thought the rspc didn't kill animals. For a broken leg ???????

    • @ChallieWallie
      @ChallieWallie 9 месяцев назад +2

      They probably didn't put it in the video, but they always do behavioral assessment to see if they can be adopted and what family would fit best.
      And animal that shows aggression towards people and severe lack of socialization, will have a hard time accepting any medical care.

    • @m6666
      @m6666 9 месяцев назад +1

      It seems like the SPCA in New Zealand doesn't have a lot of funds, but like @ChallieWallie said, I'd say that they would first do a behavioural assessment to see whether he's capable of being adopted before making their final decision on whether to operate on the dog or not.

      That broken leg was a complicated and expensive thing to fix, needing a specialist surgeon rather than a general vet.
      Organizations such as the SPCA, which depend on donations to keep them afloat, wouldn't have the money necessary to spend on just one animal when there are so many needing help😕

      That dog had a bad break that had then been left for 2 weeks, it was unsocialised and was a putbull, it had 3 things against it in the eyes of the Spca. 1 it would cost alot of money to have the dog fixed as it had been broken for 2 weeks and was setting wrong, so it needed specialist treatment 2, it was scared and wasn't socialised properly, so someone could of spent alot of time to just realise the dog wasn't good off lead 3 its a pitbull and alot of people won't adopt a pitbull as they can just fill and get very aggressive, yes if the dog had a good temperament to begin with and was properly socialised it might of been different but it wasn't, socialising a dog doesn't mean oh it plays with my kids, it means how it acts around other dogs and strangers. It had no chance, if it had been taken to Spa and surrendered to begin with, it would of been an easier fix, if it had been treated right and socialised properly then Spca might of taken a chance but you also gave to be reasonable, uts a charity that relies on donations and doesn't have endless money to spend
