I felt jealous and thought I wish if our women can drive like this in India, and now after seeing this I proud that Indian women are not just driving truck and buses but Locomotive train too. I salute them !

Had she worked on a locomotive(steam engine) as first or second firewoman, I would have certainly admired her. She doesn’t deserve any special applause. A shunting master is in charge of the shunting operations in the entire yard and does not work locos.

The lady LP is bringing WDM3A on to the platform with her back to the Driving control panel. how do the LPs manage driving such a long engine with a long hood in front of their eye sight and with back to the panel. How they manage to drive long distance in this position? Is there another control panel opposite the wind shield side? Shall be very much obliged, if you could send me the photograph or video showing the entire inside view of such locos, I would love to see the inside of WDP4 Loco also. Thank you.
Yes sir, you are right, for long distance they use the other control stand. If you notice, these locomotives have two doors, one on each side, one opens towards long hood and the other towards short hood. Accordingly control strands are placed facing opposite to each other. When the driver sits, ideally he or she faces to front, having control stand in front of him or her, and the door towards his or her back. The assistant driver rotates the seat and faces the door and has the other control stand behind or slightly sideways.
Shunting master is responsible for all shunting duties like attaching, detaching etc. Shunter is driving the engine while shunting. This is confusing. She was not in her prescribed uniform.
