My, philosophy is, basically this. And this is something that I live by. And I always have. And I always will. Don’t, ever, for any reason, do anything, to anyone, for any reason, ever, no matter what, no matter where, or who you are with, or, or where you are going, or, or where you’ve been. Ever. For any reason. Whatsoever. Loved the video. Big thank you from someone who operates their entire life in an “organized mess”
"We create a separate Lightroom Catalog for every single shoot". THANKYOU!!!!!!! OMG I though I was the only one and everyone looked at me like I was crazy 😂
When you clicked that button for sliding the colour luminance/saturation/hue my little mind was blown wide open. Thank you so much for this video MS! 🖤
Don't name your folders with periods! As an former IT Admin it makes thing only worse and harder. I know macOS might be robust but if you want long term stability and also the option to maybe sometimes switch to a pc/ windows just use underscores. A dot is reserved to tell the operating system when the name stops and the file extension starts.
I create a new catalog for every shoot I do as well. Unless I know Ill be away for a while Ill through in three jobs in a single catalog and sync the images to my iPad Pro so I can edit the jobs on the go. Thank you for all these tips!
Thank you! So helpful!! I was wondering: do you clean up your really black, white or blurry pictures? And what about the funny ones? If you keep them, do you move them in another folder? Ok last question: if you need to edit in Photoshop, do you save your final picture as a Psd file in your select folder? Thank!
I'm all in for new workflow ideas, so thanks for Optyx, gonna try it. Though with Narrative and Aftershoot on the market not sure how it compares now. I found it taking too long with initial analysis on my M1Max. Another thing I noticed is that you dismiss Photomechanic while manually doing all the folders it was designed to make for you in one click - with Ingest
I do the same method but in a different way. Because I do all of your first steps inside LR. Did u konw that u cull inside LR without make a cataloge? So I am culling there then when I am selected it puts to the folder automatically with a new album where u exported from your SD card. And for the export it saves to a different album to the same album. So once I am done it looks pretty much the same as u did in the beginning in the Finder I just made everything inside LR.
Gotta get on the .dng train! Saves your edits to the raw file but also saves file size. That way I just remove files from Lightroom once I’m done and the edits are all saved on the dng without needing to have a collection for each shoot
Tipp: Create a master folder, with the the other empty ones (raw, selects, etc...) in it and just copy that master folder for every new project. Saw this for Adobe Premiere Files, with folders and sequences already created on TikTok and that saves soooo much time *-* Love your stuff, all the best
Do you have any preferences on the Profile settings in the basic tab? I have it set to Adobe Standard, but have also used Adobe Color. I guess what I'm asking is that a selection I should be paying more attention to in your opinion? Thanks for the continuous gift of photography information y'all provide.
Thanks for sharing this video! Very helpful for organization. Question - How were you able to get your CR3 files to show up on finder? I've been trying to figure out ways to have the codec show via preview, but no luck on my end. Your insight would be appreciated!
For the pop up screen after editing Lightroom asks to save ? Does it create a new catalog every time? And if so , is it crating so many catalogs that I should go ahead and delete ?
Color Grading tool was already available many years ago on Apple’s Aperture, abandoned and killed by Apple many years ago, too. I don’t get why it took so long to arrive to Lightroom. I missed this tool so much. It was one of the features that got me stuck on Aperture but its discontinuation forced me to switch to Lightroom. I don’t think it was a patent problem, because video apps had always this tool.
can you explain catalog's better? I tried to make a new one for every shoot like y'all and it doesn't have my presets. do I have to import those everytime I make a new catalog?
Nowadays I am using lightroom mobile for all my edits as it is very quick, portable and have all the features. And a phone with Snapdragon 700 series Chipset does the work lag free.

Honestly I don't think I've ever even considered having a proper workflow for photography. I've always had a workflow for film in post like but, this video is great
Im kinda loosing my motivation about photography, because of the long process about importing, selecting, editing, exporting and sharing. Its just so much. If any of you were there, please give me some advice! :)
our goal is to always make this process streamlined and simple. we can take a shoot of 100 photos or so and have it copied, culled, and edited in about 20-30 minutes with our workflow.
it’s been a long week. please hit us with your favorite quote from the office or grade A memes to give us a little reprieve!

Would I rather be feared or loved? Easy. Both. I want people to be afraid of how much they love me.
I'm not superstitious, but I am a little stitious.
This timing was perfect. I literally just tweeted this question at you like a noob! So great to see someone else’s photo workflow
Glad it was helpful!
@@MangoStreet Could you please make a video how to spot photoshops.

New Mango street video, just what 2021 was missing!!! :3

Really helpful video for a beginner like me. Thanks!
Exactly what I was looking for! Thank you :)
Very thorough and helpful tutorial on your workflow, thank you for this!
Simple but effective 👌
I've been making seperate catalogs for ages, so happy to get my choice confirmed and not being the only one doing this.
Beautiful. You just saved me from quitting photography altogether. Much appreciated.

I’m a bit confused as to how the tone sliders (5.30) for highlights and shadows work compared to the tone curve, do you have a video on that?
this squarespace ad takes the cake 😂
Could you share you set up? Are you using a mac book? or just any regular desktop?
we use both. main computer is an imac pro. the laptop is a macbook pro. also built a PC in the past that worked great for LR as well.

but i accidentally switch them around all of the time too 😬
thanks for watching!
@@MangoStreet ah lol 🤦🏻♂️
For my hard drive
Should I just save the exports ? After it’s all done ?
Or is there a need to keep raw, selects and then catalog as well?
we find keeping raw is worth it. you may want to change the edit over time or reference it. but it's up to you and your hard drive space.
Gotta get on the .dng train! Saves your edits to the raw file but also saves file size. That way I just remove files from Lightroom once I’m done and the edits are all saved on the dng without needing to have a collection for each shoot
Also thanks for sharing your workflow!! Super interesting to see and I’ll definitely be exploring the calibration section a lot more. That looks wild

we just leave it at adobe standard as well.

I do the same thing! I create a new Lightroom Catalog for every shoot. So much better for me.
nice
Was that Matt’s studio in LA? Lol

yeah, ratcheted.
That ad tho 🤣🔥
can you explain catalog's better? I tried to make a new one for every shoot like y'all and it doesn't have my presets. do I have to import those everytime I make a new catalog?
no, you shouldn’t have to. once you enter develop mode, they should all be there.
I was wondering how people edit photos using the gradient filters in Lightroom bc I tried it out and it is difficult to do?
we cover them here: ruclips.net/video/mb1481TzXjc/видео.html

When's the 2021 LR collection dropping?
started working on it last week - maybe in march?
@@MangoStreet 🔥🔥🔥
do you guys use photoshop while editing?
only if a photo needs something removed or extra cleanup, face touch-ups. otherwise we stay in LR.
Unfortunately OPTYX is not available for M1 Macs !
Hey Mango! How has your process/workflow changed since the newer updates & ai integration? Might be a good video idea!
How can I see my raw Fuji files on my external ssd? I just get an image of capture 1

what would your work flow be when using lightroom and photoshop?
get edit finalized in LR (no grain), right-click, edit in photoshop. make any edits, save. back to LR, export as usual.
