While the manga did a lot of things better than the anime I have to say that I liked this version of Ballistamon a lot more, in the manga he was kinda there just to make digi xros when they need it having little to no character but in the anime we learned more about him like his interest in art and more importantly they revealed his past and the origin of his friendship with Shoutmon, reveling how important their relationship is too each other. Although I would love to see him evolving to Alturballistamon in the anime too.
Despite much shorter than the Anime, The Manga did every single core member of Xros Heart much more justice by giving them all Digivolution (Atlur Ballistamon, Jaeger Dorulumon, Shooting Starmon, Raptor Sparrowmon) also giving Zenjirou and Akari their own Digivice thus giving them actual role than being Comic Relief and Fanservice
I think Ballistamon is really cute and cool. I'm still really glad he had the willpower to change his fate and choose being treated as a friend instead of an item! Gold Land has to be my favorite arc of Seven Death Generals. It helps that I really like fictional pirates (even though Olegmon is more like a viking, lol, but I feel the writers made do with what they had!) :D
I mean it isn't what you expect from digimon anime so I can see why people rejected it on one hand but on the other that is a really touching friendship between Balistamon and Shoutmon. Literally built from the ground up! A pity most won't see it outside this collection of clips as it's really more touching than most of the earlier series digimon x digimon without the tamer moments.
Got to say Ballistamon's arc was neat and I like his backstory and his dynamic bond with Shoutmon. His character arc alongside Dorulumon's, Shoutmon's, Beelzebumon's, and Bagramon's (manga) make Xros Wars interesting. I also want to say the original JP dub made the scene stronger than in the English dub.
A great arc for Ballistamon which the anime has missed in capitalizing on making him evolve into Atlur Ballistamon. I used to wonder why the name differs between the good and bad version (Ballistamon VS DarkVolumon) only to be reminded that DarkVolumon was his actual name but he was renamed as Ballistamon by Shoutmon.
This brung back so many memories for me.. I used to watch Digimon Fusion all the time when it was still on Netflix and now it's hard to watch the main show :(

Koshiro was adopted as he was an orphan, which led him into spending most his time with digital devices. The reason he behaved that rational and logical way is to overshadow his possibly negative emotions. That highly compares.
I've been putting off watching this season, having grown up with the first four up to Frontier, but I can feel the soul that drew me to Digimon originally as a child. I loved Appmon and Ghost Game, two other newer series, too. I should definitely pick up Xros Wars too.

The first season wasn't that bad. the hunters version was terrible.

I guess when shout mon saw him, he saw a friend and Ally he didn’t seem as a villain. He didn’t see him as no pirate he saw him as ballistamon
