I'm a tough on crime candidate" or how someone in Nassau county NY is saying "I am taking the border very very seriously!" It just came off as sooooo disingenuous and fake. And almost like "too little, too late!" Or a "ya snooze (on big issues) you lose!"
You still dont get it. Its not only economy. Latinos are a very conservative group of people who come from a Catholic culture and are very conservative about family. It is extremely naive to think that voting for Democrats who supports LGBT, woke culture etc.
YES. Taking away women's rights and parental rights to raise our girls without boys in their spaces is an assault on our family values. Forcing our kids to endure narcissistic emotional manipulation instead of learning how to stand up for themselves is disgusting. Trying to convert us from a prideful working culture to a handout culture is an existential threat.
@alemdar9140 Correct. This rejection was NOT just about the economy or about campaign messaging. They need to stop 'messaging' our kids about their 'gender identities'. We didn't care until they made it 'phobic' for our kids to not care. If my kids came home from a friend or a babysitters house talking about the same sh*t the school has been 'inviting' them to discuss, it'd be the end of that relationship too. The right brings up those talking points to divide people and distract them from our economic plight. Democrats often are left defending these issues because the right won’t shut up about it.
What I would like to see from the democratic party is action rather than words. They need to stop the fear mongering, identity politics and propaganda. Let’s talk about real issues rather than trying to invoke an emotional response from people with lies. Not everything is racist or misogyny. People should have the right to their own opinion without being labeled.
It's too late. The Democratic Party just doesn't care about your average person. The average person is at best invisible to them, and is more of an annoyance in practice. It's beyond an Elitist mentality. Look at the number of people screaming at voters for caring about the cost of food. I'm fortunate in that food inflation is not going to affect me directly, but as someone who often cooks from scratch, and thus I buy ingredients in bulk, the sharp rise in the least expensive foods was extreme. We are talking about sugar and flour costing 4 times as much at CostCo. Now, the prices have come down, but poor people don't have the luxury of buying in bulk and on sale. People who needed to eat, and eat cheaply, were paying four times as much to EAT. Think about that for a second, paying four times as much to eat, when you are trying to eat as cheaply as possible. Then people mocking those who were trying to put food on the table. Why would these people come back to the Democratic Party?
I was at a large group dinner recently and pretty much all the people who made lots of money were Democrats, many of whom are longtime friends of mine. It never fails, they always want to make future plans that involve flying somewhere far away, staying in expensive hotels, getting premium concert tickets, reservations at celebrity restaurants. Not a clue that this is simply not possible for most Americans to do on a whim, if at all. So of course they aren't really knocked back on their heels from all the recent inflation. Their pay probably went right up along with it and their vacation home probably doubled in value. What's the problem?
Yes. The leftists of the wine, ham and cozy place and full fridge. I can arrange for them a trip to socialism and communism just 90 miles south of Fla. No bit or $ just their plain ass.
I don't understand what is wrong with being successful. Growing up I was told to work hard TO HAVE THOSE THINGS.. Trump and his merry band of misfits have all of those things. Nobody complains about Republicans having upper middle class lifestyles. Gimme a break. This election was about "working across the aisle". Nobody wants that crap. If you are in power deliver. Or NEXT!
@norwegianblue2017 Your story has nothing to do with the party. Also, plenty of people in both parties have folks that inflation did not impact greatly, but I can assure you. Any reasonable person noticed it, and also any reasonable person noticed there are companies inflating prices unnecessarily charging more. Politicians on both sides of the aisle did nothing to stop price gouging.
Democrats dont need to start catering to the working class..Democrats need to learn that they are working for the working class and representing the working class interests..We are not here to bend the knee to the Democrat party while they come out of office rich
My prediction is that the Democratic party is going to spend the next two years workshopping _messaging_ aimed at the working class. They are going to develop a ton of slogans and phrases to sound _as if_ they are going to do something for the working class. However, because people don't trust them anymore, it won't work, and they'll fail to make gains in 2026. Only then, will it occur to them to actually work with the Republicans to _do something_ for the working class.
Vote 3rd Party. Voting Democratic is the wasted vote! You just don’t get the Republican agenda as quickly IF you win. Make 2028 the year a 3rd Party finally cracks that 5% ceiling, so that 2032 we can start to make Democrats a 3rd Party if they refuse to change.

Your best defence is to not buy the crap . Dont blame everything else when your part of the problem. "a mac n cheese mix, 1 pack of oreo's and a bag of Doritos".... is that for real?
Maybe the Democrats should have bailed out Americans instead of giving all of our tax $'s to Israel. Then the Muslim-Americans would not have formed a voting bloc. Why do people think Republicans are going to do more for them? They’re just a corrupt, corporatist party. Newsflash: you registering for the other greedy assholes on the other side and voting for them isn’t going to fix anything.

Simply because people’s reality is how they live their lives during Biden’s presidency. They felt hopeless when Kamala publicly acknowledged she wouldn’t change any of Biden’s policy. I’m a democrat but the previous election made me think about their agenda, policy which sadly no longer conforms to mine.
I grew up as a Democrat because I was told that Democrats were for the poor people. So, I voted as a registered Democrat in 1996 at the age of 18. As I got older, I noticed that the Democratic party was becoming more communist when Obama was in office. By 2015, I was fed up with the Democrats' values and policies. Their constant urge to pander to get votes from minorities and homosexuals, and lack of acknowledging real issues like the economy, etc. was the last straw for me. I think that the Republicans are more about dealing with these real topics that matter. However, I decided to not be a Republican either. So, walked away from the Democratic party in 2015 and became an independent voter. Now, at 47 years old, I have learned you can't "vote blue no matter who". I learned to use rational thinking rather than my emotions.
Meanwhile the Republican party actively makes it HARDER to join unions (unions help raise GDP as it raises wages, gives workers protections, which increases job stability, which means more money and willingness to spend), get safety regulations to protect workers (and even rolls back worker protections that Democrats got), makes it harder for people to get overtime, wage increases and other things, and actively wants to deregulate climate laws (destroying the EPA for instance), which but the way, before the EPA we had LITERAL RIVERS ON FIRE. Which, by the way, a clean environment means you will be healthier and spend LESS money and time fighting health problems. Which means a better economy too. sounds like you didn't do any reflection
David Pakman for 2023 tried to tell his viewers that that the economy was doing well and that voters were being fooled by right wing political influencers. I consider David Pakman as progressive who has lost touch.
The economy is doing great by every metric. Inflation has come way down since the pandemic. 4% unemployment and $85,000 per person GDP. Voters just don't have any perspective and of course they have zero patience. We brought our economy back faster than any other nation in the world since the pandemic. There is absolutely nothing Trump has proposed that will bring inflation down, and it is already coming down so all he has to do is not touch anything

People want accountability from our government and stop thinking around party lines and focus on what is good for the majority of our citizens.
If the American people wanted any of those qualities, they would not have voted for Trump. They are suffering financially, but feel gaslit when told the US is outperforming other nations. If they must suffer, they want others to suffer as much or more.
