Mick reminds me of Ace Frehley, both are highly underrated, but are great players. Neither one is a shredder, and neither one is a flashy player, but they are both true rock guitarists when it comes down to the way they play their riffs. Mick and Ace both put their hearts and souls into their music and are true to themselves.
An "instrument holding Milli Vanilli." Ouch. That one hurt.
Ya that was a deep slash , but it might be true
NIKKI VANILLI. HAHAHA, What a fucking turd. Deceiving their fans all those years. LAZY POS never once tried to learn bass to redeem himself. Just play my backup tracks I wanna go shoot some heroin. F*****G LOSER.
LA Guns was underrated! Always loved their music and vibe.
During their heyday everyone was enamored with flashier guitarists and Mick caught some shade for his more blues based orientated style, but looking back on it now he really played what the song needed and stayed true to himself. He was a big part of their sound (better or worse) and I commend him for knowing his limits with health these days. It’s sad that it had to end this way, much respect to Mick!!
It's ironic the two guitar players that were 'the worst guitarist" were in the biggest bands and still play to big crowds. The other being CC with Poison
@@supernothing77 EXACTLY.....And even though Mars and DeVille are 2 totally different kinda players? I have always thought Mick was and IS criminally underrated. And? I even kinda dig C.C.'s early BC Rich and CRATE raw, grindy tones on their early stuff! But yeah, Mick being the "OG MAN" that he IS and WHAT those other guys HAVE pulled on him? ........TOTAL dissrespectful blasphemy cuz NOW? Dikki Sukks (and the rest, but ESPECIALLY Dikki) wanna go to 2033 and call it "the CRUE's 50th Anniversary tour" 🤨😒🙄 Yeah, IT IS , REAL "sad" in tha LEAST with WHAT HAS come down with that band.....SMH.
@E.T. styles agree. Mick wasn't super flashy, but he's solid. Good, steady, catchy blues undertones. Didn't rely on speed and decibles.
Yes. Mick and Slash were slagged badly in the guitar rags and even placed No.1 and 2 in the horrible category of “Worst Guitarist” in Guitar World (I believe CC might’ve placed third). But whose songs are most remembered?
I always thought Mick had a non-commercial metal look where the other three were the typical hair band. I mean as far as looks.
Phil Lewis is actually a great singer. Saw LA Guns last year. And Phil was a full on professional.
You like la guns listen to girl
Saw them too with Keifer and Guns blew the doors out
Bro that's the singer for la guns before he joined la guns the band name was girl
@@jaecrowther2100 IIRC Phil Collen from Def Leppard was in that band as well.
Yes I saw them last summer with Faster Pussycat it was a great show. Just pure load rock n roll
Phil Lewis is a great singer and L.A. Guns were criminally underrated. I was not a fan of what came out of LA but Cocked & loaded is better than 95% of what came out of that town. Go Phil!🤘
Sex action and electric gypsy
Absolutely. First 3 records killed. Unfortunately appetite came out before la guns self titled and kinda sucked up everything for everyone else. Guns are a far better band and we’re just a 2 years too late to make it huge
La guns is 100% technically better than gnr
but he said hed take the money too lol
@@filmaker256 for that kinda $$ I'd fight a grizzly bear with a KFC spork in my underwear..and win!🤣
I love La guns and I love how straight Phil and Tracii are. He’s a thousand % right…
Such a good band!
Phil is dead on with this. I do NOT understand people paying big dollars to see Axl sing Welcome to the Jungle for the millionth time no new music in like 20 years. Then you have the frauds that are Motley Crue. People are sheep. Meanwhile, bands like L.A. Guns are still pumping out QUALITY music album after album and RIPPING it the FUCK UP live. Saw them recently. Still full on live and tearing it up. Love Phil. Always have. Spent some time with LA Guns backstage at a meet and greet 2 years ago in Colorado Springs. Really cool laid-back guys ALL of them. Ace von Johnson, Johnny Martin, and of course Tracii. None of the rockstar attitude bullshit. I'd pay to see LA Guns 100 times before tossing a quarter at Motley Crue or GNR.
I totally agree. Personally, GnR didnt age well and when I hear any of their songs on the radio i say, Barf and change the station.
What about Steve Riley?
Lol. Cracks me up how riled you people get over this. What do you care what concerts strangers go to? 😂
@@MrOctober44 if people wanna waste their money on bands who can't play anymore let em right?
@@MrOctober44 you confuse being bewildered by people throwing money at bad bands with caring or being "riled up". Making an observation about something doesn't mean you care about it. For example. There are animals running around the city of Chicago looting and committing crimes. I OBSERVE that. I neither give a shit nor do I get "riled up" about it. They voted for it they deserve it. Pass the popcorn.
You know John 5 signed a plethora of non-disclosure agreements to keep their secrets safe.. 😂🤣
I completely agree, it was probably 20 pages thick. Non disclosure this, you sign away that etc.
No secrets you watch enough of their performances you can tell whats going on.
MC contracts are different. you can burn them whenever they want.
Easiest job John 5 ever had.
John 5 just seems too good to play with Motley doesn't he? Man, the vids of him playing are just crazy.
@@SuperGregrr That guy is a BEAST on guitar! Seriously, one of the best out there right now.
This is why L.A. Guns still actually rocks!
❤❤❤
Phil can absolutely someone who can walk his talk. Truly. His voice is amazing and when you hear Guns perform live it doesn't sound like a tribute band. I agree with him on the social skills as well. Tommy is a f**king child and I'm embarrassed for him. I have always been a huge Nikki guy but that started to fade after their "final tour" only to come back again, and again and then this Mick stuff really turned me off of Motley. LA GUNS has always been a favorite. If you haven't seen Phil and Traci live, you're missing out.
I feel the same way about Nikki Sixx as you do too.
Was like one of my idols but. Started learning more of what a POS he is since. Shitting on Tracii and BOD,
Fighting with Silly Erna of Cruefest 2, the farewell nonsense, then the disappointing stadium tour, now Mick Mars.... Fuck Motley Crue and they were my favorite band for a very long time.
LA Guns for life.
Would have been cool to see Tracii in MC but I'm sure he wouldn't have done it.
That's brutal and true. I saw Motley 5 times in their prime. Mick Mars was insane, these riffs are stamped in my brain. The rest of the band are clowns.
👍Truth. Mick was the draw for me. You never hear it much, but I love his playing on Dancing On Glass.
Me too. From 1983 to 2022 and Mick has slowly slipped. One show Vince announced Generatiin Swine and Mick started playing Afraid.
Who wrote the songs?
That’s a funny take. Many bootleg shows from ‘85-‘97. Go back and watch Mick’s solos from those shows. Crowd doesn’t give a fuck!
@@stevenweller7900 Those are such forgettable tunes you really can’t blame Mick for playing the wrong one 😂
I know Phil personally and I've had some great times with him on tour. He's an old school guy who takes his craft far more seriously than most from that era. It's even more impressive that he has stuck to his guns all these years regardless of the pay, exposure or glory. The path he took reminds me of Lemmy.
Except Phil is poorer than Lemme's old roadies are. Phil's a lying has-been.
He performed so well when I saw their orginal line up finally play together in a lomg as stime at the whiskey back when I was either 19 or 20 and I am now 34 so that was back in 2009 or one of those year's lol and saw them one more time so worth it. I wish I would've gotten a chance to meet Phil bit his wife was a total bitch and made it hard on the females to meet him..
Phil Lewis hit the nail on the head lol
Mötley Crüe is currently making Journey’s situation look pretty damn near decent! 😂
What's going on with Journey ???
Mick is a fabulous guitarist. He may not be a Shred King, but he is a Master of tone and song writing.
Some of the greatest riffs, EVER!
Motley was about MTV, and Mick’s guitar playing.
@@luvyesmusici4886 Except Sixx wrote virtually every riff you think Mick did. Look at the songwriting credits. There's a reason Mick is in his 70's and still hasn't released a solo record.
I'd call Mick 1 of the best the past 40 years. Oh most definitely.
@@termsofusepolice Nikki wrote the lyrics and probably the over- all melody....but he sure as hell didn't write any of the guitar riffs or solos. The fact of the matter is, and I strongly suspected it even back in the 80's, Nikki cannot play the bass guitar, much less write any riffs for lead guitar. Even after all these years...Nikki's abilities on the bass are rudimentary, at best. Nikki wanted to be a rock star, not a musician.
@@termsofusepolice you're wrong about that. Nikki came up with the lyrics not the riffs.
I wonder if Nikki was playing bass when I saw the Crüe on the Dr Feelgood tour? He definitely wasn't really drinking Jack Daniels from the bottle onstage, even when Tommy definitely was drinking from the same bottle. Their chorus vocals were obviously taped. Mick was playing live, he even threw in extra licks. Tommy was playing. Vince was missing words even back then.
In my opinion they should retire. Vince sounds awful, Nikki is a poser, Mick is gone, and it's time to stop.
Also I believe John 5 made a big mistake joining those clowns. I hope he's getting a fat payday, and not Mick's money.
They should have quit when they signed that "We're quitting forever" contract & swore they were done. Probably none of this sad end would have happened. It reminds me of bank robbers who get away with it for years & decide to do one last heist & then everything falls apart.
@@ericb2409 well said. I agree. The footage from that tour was bad enough. Mick sounded/played better recently from what I've seen. He's the only one I have any respect for as a person.
I Love Phil Lewis. Wasn't an opening band for LA guns twice. Not on tour with them just for those nights. Got to meet him, he's cool as shit. Also, isn't it refreshing to hear somebody speak the truth? Lol. Mad respect for Tracii guns Phill Lewis and the band.
❤❤❤ I love Phil, always a gentleman ♥️
I feel for Mick. Dude was the sound of that band and now being tossed out like trash..
He ought to be taken care of by the band but evidently greed is still crowned the king..
Mick quit, and still wants to be paid as if he didn’t.
Mick needs reparations! He slaved for those guys Now the chains are off so show him the money! He only has 70 million how is that gonna last him for the next 50 or 60 years?

Fun story- back in the 80s when I lived near Marina del Rey, I stopped at the grocery store there and two people in front of me was the strange man dressed all in black. The cashier was looking at him like she didn’t know if she should run or not and the more I looked at him, I realized that was Mick Mars. He paid for his groceries by pulling out this wad of rolled up cash. I’ve never seen that much money rolled up. And when he left, I told the other ladies who he was, and they had no idea about Mötley Crüe. Even though he looked sickly back then, he was definitely really rich .
Phil lewis is actually pretty damn good.
I might give Cocked And Loaded another listen later just because my respect for the guy increased after I finished this video...
@@Trustme77 agreed
Phil has always called it out and
Called it how it is good bad or ugly he has always kept it real no BS even when him and
Tracii we’re fighting he called out all the BS !!!
This is the absolute truth. Nikki is in his 60's and acting like he is in his 30's. Socially stunted because everyone has kissed his ass his whole life. Told him what he Wanted to hear instead of what he needed. Must be a sad existence to not have good enough of a friend around to tell him the hard truth and stop him from his constant verbal diarrhea.
Someone should have told him to learn how to play.

I can't stand Nikki. Talk about trash. He is a straight up fraud in every way. Vince lip syncs and doesn't even try to hide it as he waddles around on stage like a c section special at the lowest of low strip clubs. And tommy....the guy probably beats off to himself in the mirror when not talking or making it all about himself. Biggest frauds. Yeah, let's plan a "Final Tour" for our sheep fans, and after the tour is over, plan another one! It amazes me how fragile and insecure these guys are, when you are so used to getting your ass kissed that you can't handle any statement that does not kiss your ass. Typical twitter warriors. I'd rather pay money to see someone crack Nikki one, and wipe that smug entitled look off his face, then go to a crue show.
Dude ain’t wrong. Motley’s (and KISS) best days are in the breeze. I love all 3 bands. But of the 3, only LA Guns still brings it. 🤙🏼
😂 Nikki is just a walking ego. He knows L.A.Guns is still making new music just as good as it ever was...Motley Crue isn't.
Mick was the only person in MC actually playing live during the Summer Stadium Tour. And obviously Vince singing. No one could sing that bad with a backing track.
🤣💯
Vince singing? I thought that was screeching. Too funny!🤣😂🤣
OMG ..you crack me up.... ALL of ya!
I would have loved to see Poison again & Def Leppard but, passed on the tour because of the Crue.
I hope Mick takes them for ALL their worth & then some!
Team Mick ALL The way!💖🤘
You really can't call what he does singing?
That wasn't a parody? Holy mackerel...
Mick is the only member that isn’t a POS Human. I was ready to walk out of the stadium tour when they started “The Dirt”. Vince sounded AMAZING, and I looked right at my wife and said we’re leaving. It was obviously fake. Only reason we stayed cause my 15yo son wanted to. Nikki is the only person alive that can give Gene Simmons a run for his money when it comes to inflated egos.
at least genes in on the joke that hes arrogant nikki not so much

Phil Lewis is correct, and at 66 years old, still sound amazing live.
Mick Mars made that band a headliner.
Mick is underrated and it's a shame. He deserves all he has coming and so much more. Rock on Mick.
There's also a video RUclips from Mick's band that shows Mick was the one behind Tommy's drum set raising up and spinning. His band was doing it in 75 long before the Crue.

The audacity of Nikki to have a tv show called my favorite riff

LA Guns kicks some serious ass ! Love Phil and Traccii !
Phil and the Guns play live.. I watched them play a set recently. And they are still writing new stuff. I love and respect that band. If you look at the lyrics to say ... Magdalene for example ... Its a beautiful poem set to kick ass music. Very underrated band, They've always been real ones. Never get the credit they deserve and are hugely overlooked. Cocked and Loaded baby! x

Mick Mars is Motley Crue. It's his sound and his tone that gave them a career
I completely agree that John 5 does not fit in Motley Crue, and Guns would have been perfect. However, I'm glad that didn't happen. I'd rather have new L. A. Guns material than Motley. Also, of all the 80s bands I still listen to on a regular basis for the last 40 years, and this is no exaggeration, I maybe listen to a couple of Motley Crue songs a year. However, Dokken, Ratt, Great White, L. A. Guns, and quite a few others have always been in regular rotation. It is what it is.
DJ Ashba seemed like a no brainer to me (he was rumoured to be Mick’s replacement for the “retirement” tour due to Mick’s health concerns. Also rumoured that DJ played a lot of guitar on SOLA) but I’m guess like many others Nikki has worked with, Tracii included, there is bad blood between them (Nikki seems to be a very petty and thin-skinned person).
MC were done after Shout at the Devil.. I was still a fan during Theater of Pain, and saw them on that tour, but I never bought another MC album except for the '94 Corabi album
They would.have been better off finding a younger Zack Wild type unknown like.Ozzy found in the in the 80's rather than going for john 5.
@@anthonylynch4737 john 5 fine musician too clinical. I would have got Phil X. Before Bon Jovi he had that dirty flashy sound. Played raw. Got that attitude shit by the ton. @@brianforgie7724 He has the right guitar that's for sure.
Phil ain't never lied! We all know L.A. Perhaps it's because Phil is so real that he never became an industry darling, but for those of us acolytes of rock n roll, we're so glad that Phil always remained the people's voice!

Nailed it when he said John 5 doesn't fit. He really doesn't.
Is it fair to compare Motley Crue to Milli Vanilli?
"Girl you know it's true.."
It's not the first time I read that Sixx is a poser with little instrument skills. He's gotten by on his look as a hairband rocker.
Hmmm a band that's been kickin ass for 40 years compared to a couple of talentless dancing hacks that were in the spotlight for 12 months... Yea so comparable.
@@motleydude73Once Motley got caught playing backing tracks at a show folks paid a fortune for, they put themselves in the same category as Milli Vanilli. Not me
@@infiniteuniverse9528 Not even a close comparison. Do you even know why bands use backing tracks? A lot do it. KISS, Aerosmith, Shinedown, Def Leppard. Especially when there is only one guitarist. I always thought when Tracii left LAG for Brides, he was thinking if and when Motley reunites, and if Mick can't do it, he'd be the guy to step in. That was the only reasonable explanation I thought for him leaving his own band. Wasn;t till I interviewed him years later that I got more details about the move and there was more to it.... But still think that was in the back of his mind. Lewis is correct, he'd be a perfect fit.

Phil is right. The reason Motley Crue got John 5 is because he's played in bands that are considered to be more modern and relevant than Motley's 80s contemporaries. He's basically their salesperson to the modern rock audience. It's just another move to stay current like they did when they hired John Corabi. They could have picked up Traci Guns or George Lynch and this whole thing might have been a little easier for the fans to digest. And even if Mick is having a hard time playing guitar they keep Vince in the band even though he can't sing live. They'll always keep Vince because if they ever hire someone else to sing for them Vince will outdraw them with his solo band, that's some crazy shit.
Dude Lynch already has to suffer a bloated whale wash up who cant sing for shit anymore…
Definitely agree Phil Lewis a really good singer and interacts with his crowd. Traci Guns is a beast on guitar and is so underrated. LA Guns as a band were underrated and have put out some goods tunes, even still to this very day. 😊
100% agree Mickey. Traci is an amazing guitarist. Easily as good as Slash if not better. I wonder what the songs would of been like if Axl had stuck with them?
@@davidperrott5098 Tracy destroys Slash as a guitarist, no question. Sadly I think GnR wouldn't have been as popular because Slash's timeless 70's sound made the band stand out from their contemporaries in the 80's. Instead of being called the new 'Areosmith', they'd be called the new 'RATT'.
Their first album is absolutely their best, I loved the rawness of it! Shout at the Devil was okay and then after that they kept sucking ass and declining in my opinion!
True. First two. Then forget about them. Truly
I’ve always heard how “Nikki writes the songs” for years, but have never seen actual evidence of this.
What real world, tangible examples exist of Nikki Vanilli writing which songs?
Because I tell ya….the current evidence of today-their backing track usage & being apparently unable to play simple things live-paints a different picture totally of Nikki being this songwriting genius musician.
If we're talking songwriting credits I'm not sure how to confirm or disprove that; there are a lot fewer witnesses to the songwriting process than to concerts, after all.
But I'm aware that sometimes bands will credit a member with input on some songs in order for them to qualify for royalties and keep them happy. (I'm not sure, but I *think* Ratt did that with Bobby Blotzer, for example.) So a statement like "Nikki's a genius, he wrote Looks That Kill and Wildside!" might be false, I guess.... 🤷♂️
@Mucho Macho ah ok, thanks man. Makes sense. Yeah that’s a songwriting credit, but honestly, not the hardest part of the creative process.
@@Trustme77 makes sense. If Nikki wrote the lyrics, mostly, then that def gives him a songwriting credit.
45 years of evidence you plonker. Nikki wrote 95% of their music and lyrics.
Tracy and Phil trash talked Motley Crue from the stage when they played in San Diego last week.
That interview was priceless!😂 ... LOVE THE GUNS! ❤
I knew people who were on tbe inside of crew who have said for years that nikki couldn't play and was never even really an addict. Was all just an image he created
There's a Randy Rhoads movie that talks about Nikki trying to join Quiet Riot and Nikki not knowing how to play for shit.
Anyone that has done heroin as much as Nikki claims he did would look like Keith Richards… or even present day Tommy Lee! 🤪 Tommy actually looks like he’s on Meth!
HAHAHA Nikki brought a rythym guitar to audition for a bass position. LMFAO. The fucking idiot didnt even know the difference. HAHAHAHAHA
Mick's guitar work is fucking sick. I love the blues-infused metal sound (or at least I did when I was young)
Brutal honesty...if it's the truth but hey What do I know
Without Mick, Motley Crue would have been long forgotten.
The more musicians that seem to chime in on this whole issue from the inner circle of the traditional heavy metal scene seem to be truthfully speaking in my eyes with Motley Crue just doing this whole tour just for the money. But then again who wouldn't. Everybody knows they use backing tracks and I think people who go to these concerts know. I still can't believe how people supported this tour they are on when they swore the supposed "Farewell Tour" was the last. Just shameful as the book! I will still listen to both of these bands. Business sucks!
I saw them & yes they use backing tracks & Vince can't sing. But Mick was not the only musician in the band. Tommy Lee is a really good drummer too.
respect to Phil to ripping that fraud Nikki Sixx and Motley Fraud
Phil is a bad ass you rock man
Phil’s 100% right!!!!!
L.A Guns I thought was always better than Motley Crue
Adding vocal tracks is one thing, but faking instruments is an insult to music
This is an example of bad karma. They made such a spectacle of their retirement and cessation of touring agreement, etc. All the merchandising money they scammed off their fans with the final tour tchotchkes and then the Staples shows where they were selling final show t-shirts for $75-$100 bucks. They completely ripped off their fans with that scam, money grab. Now it’s coming back to screw them because Mick was the only real musician in that band with any cred. He’s completely outed them for being total frauds and complete hucksters. They could’ve retired and went out with a shred of decency. Now they’re a joke.
Good point.
Phil is a stand up guy. I'm a sound engineer and I worked with LA on a tour with Wasp. Wasp screwed them, Ratt and Metal Church on that tour. I was doing monitors at a show in Detroit, and Phil thanked me for giving the the band what I could because Wasp said they could only have the side fills and one front monitor. What a-holes! Peace Phil!
Blackie screwing people? When did he start doing that? Oh, wait...
I'm a big Wasp fan and think Blackie has one of the best voices ever in metal. But.... I don't think I'd wanna be friends with him. 😅
Unrelated,. I saw LA Guns in Fort Lauderdale back in 1988 or 89.
I think the name of the bar/venue was The Button South. A band named Hurricane Alice opened the show.
La gunns one of my favorites.
Hilarious and he's point on
I feel like backing tracks are okay if we're talking horns or other instruments that aren't played by the regular band. As dude from Falling In Reverse said, sure they could pay for a whole orchestra instead of using a recording of an orchestra, but that would be a waste of money. That said, if you're onstage with a bass in your hands and strapped over your shoulder in front of a crowd, you ought to actually be playing it at least SOME of the time, ideally from start to finish.
If I could see the Crue for free then I wouldn't care as much about how much was live vs. recorded. If I could see them cheap then I wouldn't care as much. But when we're talking expensive tickets, no thanks, I don't want to pay $60 or whatever to see pyro and shit while listening to recordings. Not when I can listen to the original recordings for free, although your mileage may vary.
That was the most amazing thing I’ve ever heard a rock musician say, and it’s all true! I don’t mean to piss anybody off, but I never ever understood why people thought Mötley Crüe was so good. They are very basic, musically. Although Tommy is a beast on the drums…
I went to the stadium tour to see mick mars. I think they gave him about 1% of screen time but because I’m fair I’ll settle for 20% of my ticket monies back.
I mean nobody could call Motley Crue a complete Milli Vanilli Sham . They have played their instruments on most to their Work for Decades . But they are in their 60s and can't maintain the Young Motley Crue Level of Playing their songs anymore Live . Might as well call Kiss a Fraud too . Kiss brought in Ghost / Shadow Session Guitar or Drum Players to play on some of their Best Albums . They Bob Kulick on a Couple and had Vinnie Vincent writing some of their songs in the 80s when he wasn't even a part of Kiss . Nikki Sixx isn't a Virtuoso Bass Player , but he is such a Great Song writer for Motley Crue to make up for his Bass Playing Deficiencies . So it's kind of a Catch 22 dealing with his Importance to the Band . Without his Song Writing personality , and Leadership , they aren't the same Band .
Nikki didn't know the difference between a bass and a guitar. I love John 5. You're right. John is like Mick, too good for them. Have you heard of John 5 going to rehab? That's because he's never fell into the drug scene. Mick only went because pain pills is what was prescribed for his AS.
Just watch Mötley’s performance at the U.S. Festival… probably what they’d still sound like without taped tracks!
I was at the 83 US Festival, had not heard of them and instantly hated them when they started playing. By the time their set was over several people around me were booing and throwing garbage towards the stage.
Motley Crue was inspired by Alice Cooper and horror movies. It's more about a show with "Characters" then it is about technically playing music like Rush or something.
Do people get pumped up when they play their music on a recording at a basketball or hockey game? Yes! It really doesn't matter at this point whether Nikki plugs his bass in or not.
And I play bass and played in cover bands for 15 years, so I know what I am talking about.
Would I do it? Hell no, I'd play live or not at all. I am available if the crew can afford me. Just give me a big ass headband with my metal hair attached to it, and put me in there!
(I also could learn their entire set in about a week.)
It came very close to being Tracii back in 2005.
I mean…people REALLY thought Motley Crue COULD play?!???
Yes, the music was built around Mick’s riffs and solos. Without him they would’ve never made. Just like Poison rode CC Deville’s coat tails because from the beginning CC was a lot more talented so they relied on him while they grew and developed their skills.
Phil is awesome! One helluva singer and frontman.
It's too bad Five has to dumb himself down to play with the other three buffoons.
Don't care one way or the other, but Phil isn't wrong here.
I was there at one of the shows. There were guitar backing tracks, behind the solos too, so......I don't think Mick can say much.
BS Mick always gave 100 percent. The other 3 were always more concerned with drugs or pussy.
Phil didn’t lie.
Come to think about it, nobody’s ever heard an actual Nikki Sixx bass solo…
the guy has jedi like skills, the only bassist I have seen clapping both hands as the bass comes through the bass, amazing
Everything about this interview was very well said. And unfortunately in my opinion... very true. I wish it was different. But it's not. 💔
I sincerely mean no disrespect but why would the bass have to be prerecorded?? Couldn’t anyone play these songs on bass almost effortlessly? Or am I missing something?
As a bass player those songs are super simple to play. Any fiddly bits he doesn't play on stage anyway, the times he does play lol
Man, Phil is soooo right. Traci would be perfect, but Mick would be the best choice. Always!!!!
God ,he sums up dikii suxx so perfectly
How many days until Nikki says Phil is a washed up loser?
So over the Crue. Was a huge fan since grade school. But the way they did Mick dirty is pure bs. Phil hit the nail on the head in everything that he said. Saw them ‘live’ last tour and it was such a bad sound. Now I know why.
I can't believe all motley Crue concerts were pre recorded even back in the 80's?? Shout at the devil tour, theatre of pain , GGG?? I don't think so
They played live. Tommy is pretty good and so is Mick but even a bad bass player can pluck a beat. Nikki never did bass solos. He always did the goofy fake jack Daniels thing and falling all over the stage instead of an actual solo.
@Nikki Sixx not bad , what's up
there is a great video of nikki six bass wireless not being plugged in on stage and you can clearly hear the bass being played through the PA. Then he skipps off stage to return just a few seconds later with the wireless plugged in. All the while the bass track never stops in the PA. Thats pretty blatant.
Take a look at their documentary; Nikki couldn't play bass when they recorded Shout at the Devil'. He was kicked out of London cause he was such a lousy player, Sister, too. Mick is the only accomplished player in the Band, at least at a professional level. They were lucky to get Vince Neil, who had plenty of Girl appeal from Rock Candy! A band that was doing well before joining Motley! Just a very Hyperactive Drummer, Tommy Lee! They only have a sound signature trademark once Mick starts playing. To rely on just one guitar player says it all. They couldn't find someone else their age or were desperate enough to do most of the work and get equal pay. I've always wondered why this Band has only had one guitar player who clearly doesn't fit in with the other three at a much lower level. Different age, look and attitude!. And had back health problems from the start. Most bands have two guitarists unless you're Halen Hendrix!. Motley has a weaker hollowed sound compared to others.
Just saw LA Guns a week ago. Phil sounds amazing. And he sings live, no back tracks or any bullshit like that. Tracii can still destroy and melt faces with his guitar. The entire band was tight and sounded great. Last time I saw Motley Crue, Vince could barely belt out a nice scream. And Nikki moves around so much on stage I dont even think his bass is actually plugged into anything lol
Yeah, what Phil said. 100% right.
I've been a Sixx hater forever. I especially dislike him for the heroin lies. We have a serious opioid crisis in this country with tons of people dying or suffering and Nikki used it to develop this pitiful rich rock star druggie mystique about himself. Nikki never went a day in his life without brushing his teeth and poofing his hair up, more less suffer a Heroin addiction. It just pisses me off.
The struggle is real man. Nikki acting like a heroin addict is just as impressive as him being one. He is so talented either way and has a big houses.
Amen Brother Tracii!!
Phil’s 100% correct
I don't know if anyone would believe I got into a beef over Mick Mars in 1984. I said he was a great guitar player but about four of five others went bananas then said: "Mick is too old for Motley Crüe"
I asked if that's seriously the beef with Mick was all about... They were serious.
I walked away from that nonsense without a word.
I lost interest when Theater of Pain came out. Like or love it if you want, I just don't care for the direction they went.
Mick is still an Axeman after all these years.
Phil Lewis seemed like he was pretty grounded from what I could tell.
