i've set up a tip jar so if you wanna help buy me some grinding disc or something, it would be much appreciated and will help me keep the channel going. you will find the 'tip jar ' icon on my home page above
thanks if you take part in that... and thanks all who already did....
.I'd really appreciate it if you give this a like and comment, and hit the old subscribe button ....
be sure to check out my other videos....thanks Bryan
Mad respect to the Scots Bentley Boy.
absolute legend mate
The smell of a vintage car is something all most no one ever talks about, but it is one of the most important things about them. Great video, wonderful event!
thanks ...i agree...comforting?
Beautiful cars used how they should be and not stuck in a museum. 🤘
exactly that ....hats off to them all
I'm a long-standing member of the VSCC (altho' I don't currently own an eligible car), and I'm a big fan of your channel - so I was really pleased you travelled to Prescott (which is more than I did this year) and got a taste of what the club does. So much of what you do fits with the ethos of the club: it's just a shame that your Austin Ten special isn't a PVT (post-vintage thoroughbred), so isn't eligible to participate ... but it would be great if you could construct something that the club would approve of, maybe based on an Austin 7, a Riley, or a Rover, say ... as long as the components are pre-1940 and are on the PVT list, you're OK. The club offers support and guidance to special builders and restorers, and it doesn't have to cost a fortune. Welcome to the VSCC world, and keep up the good work (and the great music!).
thanks mate, glad you enjoyed it, I need to go for longer next time!....I do have an 'all prewar running gear' idea formulating actually, along with all the others spinning round in my head hahahah
Looked like a good day out.
brilliant mate
Wow!!! This popped up on U-Tube...never seen such a fine collection of running, driving antique race cars! Nothing even close to this here in the U.S.
MY motto: Use it, thats what its made for!
Love seeing them loved and abused, all at the same time....Thanks for posting , I had a blast! Just wish it was longer.
could of been way longer tbh ....im in the middle of another edit
I do not think we have anything like this here in the states. That is why I decided to start a welding/fabrication/foundry/machine shop that specializes in prewar race cars. I have almost all the projects cleared out to start with the 1928 Morgan RIP GN(MGB) Special and post my first video to RUclips.....Thank you for bringing this incredible experience to us across the pond. You and Neil look like you guys have a blast.
Thanks mate ...it was incredible collection of mechanical marvels , me and Neil were in automotive heaven! good luck with your videos mate I'll keep an eye peeled
We had a great day . 👍
Your Right John, wish we had this event on this side of the pond . Where are you located? Tom Buffalo NY
@@tomwilkinson2184 I am in Phoenixville, Pennsylvania. My goal is to have a steam operated machine shop with a central line after I get my first two projects finished. The 1928 Morgan and then a MG magnatte with the blower in the front. I already sourced a MG motor and transmission for that project but I am using another transmission that I have to rebuild from an MG for the Morgan build. The MG will be a boat tail racer with the dual tires in the back.
@@neilgreenfield3392 It is so great to see you guys having so much fun and getting to see the old masters and their prewar racers. I would love to live near you guys because the villages seem so friendly and willing to pitch in . I didn't even know that people could live right there near the English Channel. That is so kool.
"A grand day out" Excellent
thanks it was👍
Thanks for sharing!! Somewhere I have never been but its on the list!!
You should! its
superb !!
Excellent! Good to see my old girl. She made it to Inverness in 8 hours and 27 minutes. Not bad for a 101 year old!
hey mate...brilliant well done!!! I have to say you are a bloody legend ...if you read the comments you will see every one agrees with me on that too!! do you make it down south very often?
@@oakswamp I worked out that at 10MPG the round trip cost £750.00! [fuel] Even for a obviously wealthy gentleman such as the owner, I wouldn't have thought he was making too many trips of that sort of length! You couldn't really leave the old girl in a Motel carpark after all!
@@oakswamp I usually drive the old girl down for Prescott and sometimes Beaulieu Autojumble. During the summer she’s used every day and covers a couple hundred miles s week. I should have told you something of the car’s history. Been in the same family ownership since 1933. Previously owned by Brooklands Bentley driver Tom “Scrap” Thistlethwait. She also saw action during WWII as an Auxiliary Fire Tender with Jack Fry at the wheel.
@@3098vauxhall was a shame you did tell me but unfortunately the footage was us, I live not far from beaulieu I attend the auto jumbles every year.........if you have time drop me a line here oakswamprats@gmail.com
Lovely to meet you 👍. Glad you got back in one piece 😍. Beautiful car

What a brilliant day out that was. Hats off to the Scottish Bentley owner, and as for the rest of them - those who thrashed up the hill and thode whe brought vintage cars along just for the day out drive - absolute heaven!!!
exactly that mate....total respect to your man with the Bentley ...legend! cheers dude
That was a fabulous batch of cars!! Thanks for sharing, Bryan.
my pleasure
The Scottish Bentley deserves an episode of its own, then another on that FWD special with four transverse leaf springs and those intriguing ball-jointed drive shafts. Another winning show, Bryan.
cheers Shane...Bentley mush was a legend dude... imagine that journey
Thanks for taking us along Bryan. Great to see all those works of art still on the road and loved
and abused !!! my pleasure ...
what a wonderful collection of GNs in one spot. I don't think I could stop drooling over them if I were there...
Been going to Prescott since about 1971 , always amazing.
isnt it?
Truely inspirational!!
such a cool event Paul
@@oakswamp great to bump into a couple of fellow RUclipsrs!
@@paulwhiteman3625 yes was mate, me and Tom have been chatting for a while ....hes gonna come down soon, help out on some bits !!!
Ground zero for me. As a kid I would cycle up to Prescott to get high on Castrol R fumes and dream of owning any of those beautiful machines! Would love to see you boys take one of projects up the hill one day.
what a lovely part of the world Micheal ....we are having a few days break up there soon. Im looking into non-VSCC climbs at present ££😉
Good on ya!
Hell yeah !!!
Sweaty ol hot rods are my thing .
Love all the different creation's and the fact they drive the hell out of um .
Good stuff man thanks for the ride along . 😎✌️
cheers Dave......awesome event
Wouldn't fancy having me old wedding tackle so close to the floor of that lovely little red number at 8:20. The Bentley was gorgeous. Certainly The Field of Dreams. Great vid, cheers Brian.
hahahaha all those chains flying round ! cheers Dale
Hi bro! Never seen so much exceptional cars together. Could watching for hours and hours such beauty's

cheers Chris, yeah i fancied booting it up there....not possible at that event unfortunately.....modern motor
Blinding video Geezer, watching was like a breath of high octane 5 star with all them old motors - keep um coming my man ! 😊
cheers Simon...i certainly will 👍
Congratulations Bryan. The best hill climb video I have seen for a long time. So much good up close shots. Keep up the good work.
thanks Richard glad you liked it dude
11:00 The Bentley "boy" is cool (I'm sure there were some other cool guys but this one we got to see).
isnt he .... hat off mate
I was already familiar with many of the cars featured having read about and having seen photos and videos footage of them in the past, but it was really great to see them through your eyes as you were drawn to the many unique features that set them apart from one another, and to see them all in a well edited fast paced video with a great soundtrack made it even better. Thanks for taking us along!
kind words thank you...the video could of easily been 2 hours long the amount of footage i took ...glad you enjoyed it mate
I figured. Editing short entertaining videos for RUclips consumption is like writing a good radio friendly song. Looks easy, but in reality it takes a lot of effort to craft…. like some of these cars that look small and simple, but are actually quite complex when you take a closer look.
@@kauaislash5 exactly that 👌
Cant wait to see what you build to race there next year....
I do like the idea....it will have to comply ....cheers mate
Dig it man....am overcome with all those early specials..and heaps of GN vtwin specials AND that BENTLEY that drove down from Scotland...
great event mate ...if you were not so far.....
@@oakswamp its BIRTHPLACE of all them sportscars and early racecars in olBlighty....
Bloody hell,Bryan, look what you done.....I've spent over sixty years living and breathing hot rods and wishing I was born in California and now I've seen this has been just up the road all along.also great to see how wrong most of the fake patina guys get it.😅 Brilliant episode......got to go see this now!!!!!!
Ps,your special would have fitted right in!!!!!😊
well there you are mate, you should definitely go if you can...I will take the whole weekend next time .....thanks as always bro
Once again thanks for yet another great car event. I rewatch several times more at a slower play back speed to enable a longer look at badges and the mechanicals. Lovin' it!
brilliant thanks mate....it could of been so so much longer hahaha
Awesome awesome video! Watched it live for a couple hours live on Sunday but some of your video gave great close-ups of the best stuff! Much appreciated!
thanks mate .....I was in heaven !!
That was an excellent vid.........many thanks.
thanks alot😁
I first went to Prescott 50+ years ago, loved it then and still do although I've not made it back for many years.
My favourite car then and now are the GN's, simple and incredibly quick.
Thanks for a great video, it's brought lots of memories back.
nice one ...glad you enjoyed it mate
thankyou so much for uploading this. brilliant music as well
thanks Mark Glad you enjoyed it mate
Great video. Glad you had a good time and didn't get too soaked in the downpour!
thank you...i got a brolly !!
Thanks for that Bryan, The chain drive is not for the faint of heart
my pleasure Mike...Ill be heading into chain territory in the autumn😁
Only just found your site and loving it wish I could afford a t-shirt but the postage to Darwin Australia is a killer
I kbnw mate i'm trying to get a supplier down under at present cheers bro
Fun fact - there are more GN race cars now than they ever made as road cars... probably... or there is just a very good survival rate!
how much of them is actual original GN parts one wonders??
So many beautiful cars!
Yes indeed!
Superb day out that. Spotted you wandering past just before the downpour and then again just after. I was there with the family for my birthday celebrations. Was going to say hello but didn't get a chance. Next time....!
wasnt it ...awesome day ...ah shame I missed you
Very few of us pre war car enthusiasts inherit a garage full of Bentleys and Bugattis. Many just sit and dream or "belly ache" about their lack of a classic car.
Like me "Mr Oakswamp" takes the matter in hand and builds his own car, exploring the less known but fascinating grey area between hot rods and British classic sports cars. Each episode is a must watch.
exactly that Steve...I was impressed by the amount of fellas there whom built those early specials and not farmed the work out...as you know if you build a car you have a different sort of understanding about it a different relation ship with it...we are lucky dude ...cheers bro
Great sound track love it
thanks...my pal Jimmy
Chains ready to slice and dice😊😊😊
hahahahah ....
WOW!!. Thanks for the link mate. Great tour..🙏
no prob , Glad you enjoyed it
Some beautiful machines
indeed
I'd like to see one of your creations there next year.
Id need to sell alot of tee shirts to get one there mate hahahaha
Some beautiful machines another great episode Bryan
thanks dude....have you a seven?
@@oakswamp I used to have Caterham I now have mixture do old Alfa, Lotus’s pre 65 trials bike and ex military Land Rover and an understanding wife 🤣🤣
i have one too ...an understanding wife that is😁
Some of those chain driven cars are awesome, if you ever get chance to see the Chris Williams Napier Bentley in action it's an amazing bit of kit
I love em! ill look that fella up thanks
The field of dreams will result in a few nocturnal emissions - great content - drive safe
cheers as always bro
Gurston down hill climb at Salisbury is on Bank holiday weekend, a nice local one for anyone in the South.
we are thinking of going Pete
Great content Bryan, never been to Prescott but I'll be there next year for sure, keep up the great work👍
thanks Warren ....deffo go mate ...remember i said i felt out of place at car shows? thats more like it !
@@oakswamp I've always loved having a car at a show makes me feel much more a part of it
Those GN cycle cars are fantastic
i love em!, massive inspiration
Thanks for the fantastic video Bryan, we were talking about going this year but sadly didn't make it, after seeing this we will definitely go next year. All the best mate.
cheers Paul...was our first time there, fantastic! I think I will go the whole weekend next time to be honest
@@oakswamp sounds like a good plan, we will probably do the same.
Do you know when car racing started in America? About 5 min's after the second car was rolled out! Lol! Thanks Bryan!
yes exactly the same here...my pleasure dude !
With the exception of the Rat’s more modern engine “Ian”, the Rat would look right at home in the paddock or on the hill.
he would wouldnt he?
Give me a shout if you go to the hill climb in Hants - been meaning to go this year.
gurston ? yes will do we plan to
Yes gurston Give me a shout when you are going.
Thanks ! Straight Ahead ✌😎PS what is that wet stuff falling from the sky ?
cheers Mike ///we have had 2 months of it mate
Wow looks like an awsome day at Prescott , what a bunch of RaD cars !! will have yo go next time , how often is it on ?
i believe the vssc is a couple of times a year but they have other events there...do go its awesome
@@oakswamp The VSCC come back to race the long course every September I believe.
do they really might go back for that
Great tunes, how do we hear more of same .
Possibly a CD ?
thanks, thats my mate jimmy...not sure he ever released the album its from, ill talk to him see if theres a download
@oakswamp 👍 great , thanks for getting back. So as getting a t-shirt from you, I gather just follow the site correct.....I hope you ship to Canada ? Province of Ontario .
Hope you do.
sure do Peter ! thanks for the support dude1
@@oakswamp Thank you, and enjoy Thanksgiving .
Wanted to see more badges I haven't heard of half of those cars U.S.A
nor me and i live here !!!!
what motor was that @5:29 ?.
the Bentley , perfect.
that was a GN mate ....predecessor to frazer -nash....lovely isnt it!?
@@oakswamp thanks for the lead, it was the 'motor' = J.A.P or Peugeot.
JAP id of thought being a GN
GN built their own engines, that was a GN, unusually they had an overhung crank, some later specials used J.A.P.
do they run on aircraft fuel i no my neighboors cars do
dunno what they run on mate tbh
This should been a 4 hour video.
could of easily have been that long ! !
PS - 22 quid for a one pass. Feck me :(
I didnt think it was that bad really thats like 4 pints nowadays hahahah
@@oakswamp I'm not sure the excessive cost of pub beer helps me feel any better about it  At least I can make beer at home and not miss out. The same can't be said for Prescott :(
@@baxdesign hahahah I dont drink anymore ....
@@oakswamp Well that sure helps the budget :)
Great selection of fine vintage cars , love to visit there some time . Thanks from Marlin Garage in New Zealand
Glad you enjoyed it, i certainly did...
