@@babyreps365 This is Castanet. But unfortunately this is something that's all too Common in Canada these days. Seems like something more of an authoritarian government would do by shutting down dissenting speech. Just one man's opinion. The proper move is to let the crazys speak, and then debate them with reason, facts and statistics. I know it doesn't seem like it, but people in general are smart enough to be reasoned with, and think for themselves. For all our flaws, we deserve this.
According to CBC, it's been two years since the wildfire destroyed Lytton, BC and they haven't begun rebuilding yet. I came across a small documentary here on RUclips that said the state of emergency was lifted not too long ago, though, and might start soon. There are mitigating factors for that region, of course, but rebuilding or stabilizing personal lives after a fire doesn't seem to be something that happens quickly. My heart goes out to all who have lost their homes.
So can we talk about forest management now or nah? For the doubters, bring up the NASA wildfire map and note the peculiar lack of fires just south of the border.
According to the "National Interagency Fire Center's" website, it sounds like they have their hands full, too. "August 30, 2023 Nine new large wildfires were reported yesterday, two in Idaho, Louisiana and Montana, and Arizona, Mississippi and Texas each had one. Currently, 88 large wildfires have burned 597,424 acres in 15 states. More than 20,349 wildland firefighters and support personnel are working on large incidents. "
