I remember when I was much younger in the mid 80’s it was very hot an dry many summers especially during the dog days of summer! Never ever where there Fires like this anywhere!!!!! Fires in California,fires in Hawaii,now fires in Canada really a place known for lush GREEN FORESTS . When will people start to think that something else is at play here 100 years of fires in one night? That statement alone should catch your attention . If this was normal activity it wouldn’t be just happening in so many different places.

EXACTLY! Early 80’s we lived in a pond for 3 weeks it’s was so hot in alberta…no fires either…I remember it was 96 F which was weird as it never got that hot.

For what it's worth I live in Northern California and have lost 2 homes and pets. I received 2nd and 3rd degree burns trying to save my animals. Red Cross helped with what they could. We had to live in a hotel for about 6 weeks. As devastating as it is... you WILL make it through this! I promise you! It's very hard to lose everything but you will rebuild your life! When we got the evacuation order the fire was coming so fast and the winds were crazy. When a firenado formed I can't even express to you how scary it was to see a fire like that!! My heart, prayers and thoughts are with anyone affected by these fires!

I've been involved in forest fire fighting my entire adult life. This is an initial attack problem. Forestry companies, BC Forestry included are not in the business of putting fires out, they want to 'manage' them. This means grounds crews until it gets too big then helicopters until they can't handle it, then airplanes to 'contain' the fire with fire lines of retardant. If you just send the airplanes with water while the fire is small (and they can), it is far cheaper and effective. But, that's not managing is it.

Wow I used to live in NB Qnd the forest company there have fire trucks pumps everything they need to fight a fire and there good at.

I do not belong to a developed country, but where I belong to had many folds forests than yours, havent heard of any fires since decades..we dont have as many lakes...Does it talk about negligience of the officials and governments .here.?..All these government officials do is talk of economy, real estate, immigration, and regulations......all year round, I havent heard they talk and discuss the fire prevention endevors or plans...
In 2020 our Oregon governor did not want to put out a wildfire on National forest land, against fire fighter wishes. It burned for months. Then we had a freak wind storm and it blew up, taking out a whole town and causing people to run barefoot in the middle of the night to try and get into water. Many died.
That governor was an enviromentalist and we have had many before, that shutdown any kind of forest management.

I live in BC and this is easily our worst year since recorded records for forest fires and destroyed land and homes by almost triple the average amount we get in a normal year
I am feeling very weird at this moment because after watching Maui fires from the start to the destruction and loss of property and lives, intermixed with those scenes have been clips of the "officials" there in Maui, and others coming in from government agencies and I swear if you listen to these posts about Canada, the mayors, the fire chiefs, the news people AND the people on the ground who are saying things, you could have written transcripts from Maui and compare with written transcripts from Canada and they are using the exact words (the officials) and so it is true that the PEOPLE are saying the same exact things about the shoddy responses and handling of of it all. Not a conspiracy person generally, but I have to say that I am finding it very weird the number of similarities with this and with Maui. Makes one wonder if all this is a conspiracy to lower populations, take away land and blame these fires on climate change in order to push the WEF'S agenda overall. Weird and very scary and again, I have been watching these things for HOURS and HOURS as I am retired and have the time to pay attention. The forest is dry due to the drought. Relative humidity below 20% creates fine fuels that are impossible to extinguish when on fire, add wind speeds greater than 30 kmph, nothing can halt the spread of these fires until there ia lot of rain. Wind dominated fires are impossible to control.

Suspicious how? Any area suffering from drought and facing high winds is at risk of a fire like these. Add to that all the overland powerlines and you've got yourself a highly hazaedous area for fast-spreading wildfires.
Suspicious because these fires 🔥 are happening in droves. Suspicious because there has been attempted land grabs. Suspicious because of how HOT these fires are - melting the metal of cars yet leaving the trees standing next to them. Suspicious for how many road blocks were put up during the fires. Suspicious of how the remaining natives are being treated (they aren’t being helped). I don’t think you’ve listened to what these folks who lost everything including some loved ones are saying. Their stories are pretty similar.

I know it's a nightmare but many people in Maui who lost their lives would be glad to get a second chance. Family and friends are still waiting to get news about their loved ones. I pray that no lives will be lost over there.

In the 70's I witnessed a big fire and wind blowing. Firemen all suddenly yelled out run run. Then the fire suddenly raged up a hilly road wiping out a heaps of houses in around 3 seconds the fire was 200 yards up the hill. Fires suck.

I think love to Mother Earth would be more appreciated in the long run. Most of us hate to see disasters. We want to see live improve. But we are a little handcuffed and enslaved by a system we didn't choose that we were born into that is structurally unsustainable.

I live in Florida and we do controlled burns. If we didn’t do that we would go through the same thing here. They must have been lacking in preparation. If they did controlled burn’s they would be dealing with. You have to keep the underbrush cleared out.
We constantly do controlled burns, I see them every week in early spring for the past few years. Stop blaming forest management, it won't stop fires if we keep getting intense heatwaves and drought conditions.

This is not a small 1 story house fire even those take a while to get under control we are talking about 400,000 acres or more believe its not easy said as done situation its alot of work that there is not enough water or manpower to combat these wildfires they are enormous best to leave safely and pray for rain and the wind to stop 🙏

So sad... again. I was in the area 20 years ago during the last Kelowna fire. I hope they are able to put the lessons learned into effect this time.
It's a lucrative cycle and I'm not sure politicians want it to end by solving the problem.

Considering forest fires have become worse almost every year, it's a good idea for the government to consider creating kilometers-wide firebreaks around all population centers, residential, commercial and industry areas.

it was the hurricane dora winds, that I felt on oahu 3 days in a row till the maui fire. Which were "UNUSUAL" in terms of strength, but only if you didn't know there was a hurricane.... bc of those heavy winds Electric poles were falling down, they are not stable enough to support such erratic winds. then all the dried crop, like a dumpster fire. Mother nature is unforgiving, that mixed with man made electric poles is a disaster waiting to happen

I pray that forestry department looks at management of BC forests better than they have in a few decades. Environmentalists have pressured governments to leave floor beds and discouraged practices from past …..we are creeping our residential areas up to forest borderlines and expecting to be safe from fires.
Feds and Provinces reduced manpower for light house keepers, national guards, conservation officers, ....and related to forestry, they reduced rangers and gate keepers who would manage controlled burns. They have been repeatedly advised by First Nations and those in the know to manage forestry in a more intelligent and realistic manner. In light of the very hot drier summers that spells disaster

I’m with you everyone; my brother & sister-in-law live in Okanagan Kelowna & Fri eve on zoom received pics from someone in my family, believe it was my sister-in-law showing the heavy smoke near their area. My brother was on his roof spraying it down with water to try to keep the embers that may fly through the air & land on house roofs to help keep the roof free from any possible damage/risk. They saw their neighbours packing their suitcases & getting ready to leave. Made my sister-in-law & brother a bit uneasy about this issue. I’m glad I wasn’t there, but I was scared for them & upon seeing the pics that I received; YIKES! 😳😧🫢💔 feeling uneasy for them all!
I sure hope they catch the people starting these fires.

With all the droughts and geatwaves we've been a tinderbox fir the last few summers in particular. It doesn't help that sometimes lightning strikes ahead of where the rain is.

A Yellowknife resident who raced to extinguish a fire at the city’s Fred Henne Park said it was one of two burning late on Tuesday evening.
Rudi Slagter told Cabin Radio he had put out a “bonfire-sized” fire using a fire extinguisher after seeing it from the road while driving past.
A second witness, Aiden Rylott, said two separate fires had been visible. Slagter also understood there to be two fires.
Rylott, in an email just after 10:30pm on Tuesday, said the fire department appeared to have the fires “down to smouldering.”
Did the police catch and arrest the person(s) who lit the bonfires at Yellowknife?
