    I live in Palmer Lake, Colorado, a few hrs SE of this area. The winds have been insane. I thought it would flip my car off the hwy and there were branches flying...I just now learned about this fire going on (I rarely watch the news). It’s so traumatic and devastating, I can’t fathom it all. I lived through a devastating flood a few years back, which happened because of the Waldo Canyon fire the year before, and lost everything. It was such a horrible experience, but here I am. They have so much they are grieving now, pets surely lost, so much destruction to process. The best help they can get, in this order....immediate needs met (shelter, food, prescriptions filled, pet food/supplies and carry crates, clean clothes, etc), a car if needed, list of agency contacts for replacing documents, apply for assistance funds, etc. Of course clothing and other things are needed also, but the best offering is compassion and kindness and care. Things can be replaced and ultimately don’t even matter much in the end, but being lifted up, helping someone carry the burden for awhile means so much to the spirit and Soul of the one who is suffering these moments. Just be there fully in heart, for anyone needing help, give in any capacity available to you, prayers are free, be the Light someone needs right now. The chaos in the world is relentless lately, and we need each other more than we realize. May the next steps for everyone impacted and traumatized by this fire lead them into healing and loving support and empathy, to help them move through their grief and pain. 🙏🏾💕💚 p. s . The pets need help too; it’s a tremendous challenge to find anyplace for them to go suddenly and they are also traumatized and need care and compassion and reassurance! Even offering for a pet to have a quiet and safe home to live for awhile can offer much, much needed relief. 💜

    I lived in Boulder in the mid 60's. In January the winds were really severe. They roll down Boulder Canyon reaching massive speeds. A brand new subdivision in Devil's Thumb was almost entirely destroyed. One family had sat down for dinner when their roof was blown off. An older mobile home park just a quarter mile from us had the entire west side row of homes destroyed. Homes were actually blown up on end and crashed to the ground. We had a large part of a neighbor's big chicken coop roof sticking out of our garage door. The really bizarre thing is that the roof was a bit south of our north side garage. The winds do strange things. There were five fires going in the city of Boulder during these terrible winds. But the damage wasn't near what's happened this time.
    My heart breaks for those folks. The overwhelming sadness and almost painful feelings of emptiness are devastating.

    People are not going to like what im about to say. I feel 2 ways about this, on one hand I feel some what bad and on the other hand this is A warning For Me to Always be kind to people who has less than I. Ive been living in Colorado in my van going on 3 years now and its been very very hard!! but the hardest thing is the people in Colorado are so cold hearted how many of these people were on their way home saw homeless people asking for THEIR HELP and You just pass them up and even make FUN of them. ALL HOMELESS PEOPLE AREN'T ON DRUGS!!!!! You Agree to law makers making it hard for Human beings to living in Van's, cars we have no place to park so that we can work rest and work and get back on our feet. You make it very very hard for the homeless you have no love for people who has less than you. People I'm WARNING YOU!! If you keep up with your Selfishness and UNGODLY ways you don't care about others you only care about having a good time and making money, GOD will BRING MORE Fires, More crazy Shootings GOD is making you UNCOMFORTABLE because you have been Heartless. Be kind to others!! If you have a home and God has blessed you with $$ help others that you see EVERY DAY on your way to and from work, store A HOME. Stop with this. I Have No Money On Me it's On MY CARD👎👎! STOP THAT!! Be kind to those who has less than you!!!! and Now you're Homeless.I don't have much but I Always try to help those who has less than I. In return God takes care of me But he gives me just enough to recognize the Reality of Heartless people. People be helpful have a Heart to the Homeless be More Helpful find a way to be helpful and God will ALWAYS look out for YOU, your HOME and YOUR FAMILY!! But you won't take HEED You'll Read this and Role your eyes and think I'm talking crazy Ok than keep with your Selfish Ways.

When asked the reason, they said "They didn't have one and didn't need one". This abuse happens always to seniors and disabled. People think they are cared for and pay no attention to them. THEY. ARE. BEING ABUSED!!!!! Social Services is involved. It's shameful. So ... Yes I hear and know your plea. Peace, health, home, food and some joy for you in the New Year. I care about YOU.

      Germany has most of their power lines buried underground. I just read that the technology for buried power lines has been improving in recent years. The main complaint that I read from power companies is that it's "too expensive" to bury lines. However, multiply 600 (h0mes) times 350,000.00 per home (minimum) and the cost is in the multi-millions!!

    • @ixlr825
      @ixlr825 2 года назад

      I worked as an electrician and can tell you that none of your suggestions are even close to realistic. It would be a lot more sensible to manage the surrounding areas instead of letting them grow wild and call it “open space” that tall, dry grass is a tinderbox waiting to blaze

    • @tandiparent1906
      @tandiparent1906 2 года назад

      They would unfortunately have to figure out how to keep underground wildlife (like prairie dogs, fox, etc') that have burrows from damaging the underground lines; right now, it's not possible.🥺

    • @tandiparent1906
      @tandiparent1906 2 года назад

      @@ixlr825 I agree; but, there's always going to be tall grass prairie grasses. Everytime I've either lived in Colorado or visited, I've seen tons of tall trees that are around electric lines/poles (plus tons of cedar that always go up in fires quickly because of the sap that's in them); does Colorado cut the trees back away from the electric poles yearly? I'm just wondering, I know that towns here in Oklahoma cut the trees back away from railroad tracks and poles/lines once or twice a year. It doesn't save us from all the fires; but, it helps. Many farmers here are also trying to get rid of cedar trees off of their properties too, to lessen the problem in case of fires.

    • @ixlr825
      @ixlr825 2 года назад

      @@tandiparent1906 they do trim the trees back from my experience. A lot of this type of thing could be avoided via controlled burns, creating a fire line, or simply not building houses in such close proximity to each other backed up to a tinderbox. I truly feel bad for the folks that paid for the ignorance of others in this situation.

    Here is a quick summary: This fire is currently on an unstoppable rampage through metro Colorado. Over 700 homes destroyed with no hope of stopping it in sight. Entire cities... big cities.. have been leveled to the ground. Cant bring in any form of air support due to the 70 to 110 mph winds and extremely low visibility. Most destructive fire ever in Colorado. Luckily we have hope of snow coming tomorrow night. Hopefully, it is out by then, but no one is holding their breath. No deaths are yet reported, likely won't stay that way for long... This fire started when a wind gust upwards of 110 ripped a powerline out of the ground and it landed in the brush, igniting it. Considering we haven't had any significant moisture since summer it spread uncontrollably quick. IF YOU ARE BEING TOLD TO EVACUATE, PLEASE DO!!! A lot of deaths that happen in a fire like this are from people not evacuating. SO PLEASE DO!!!! If you have questions put them below and I will try to answer them.

    I suppose that the Electric Company will be sued since power lines started the fire. That's what happened in California.

    Anyone who would say something insensitive - forgive them. This is too extreme, too scary for many people to be empathetic through. The rest of us, we can contribute to help - Red Cross, Salvation Army there are a lot of relief groups and certainly people will not be seeing insurance compensation immediately. Stay constructive, point forward, one day at a time. Be the neighbour you'd want to see if you went through this.
