I think you ommitted word "well" from quoting him. I think he said if you do not breath WELL...etc. Seems a case of not what he said but what you think you heard.😂😂😂
I have chronic sternum pain from doing weighted dips with bad form since three years. I started with youre aproach and it helped me in many different other aspects. today the pain was really bad. I used this method and the rolling on the back and got an instant relief. Youre changing lifes bro!
Conor Harris and Zac Cupples are really ahead of everybody on how important the rib cage is to un locking your body. Great stuff. Been battling APT limited overhead mobility rib flare pooch belly for years. I’m starting to make progress after years of little to no progress these concepts were my missing link
Between the two, which of their exercises / videos did you use? I'm in the same position and want to do something about it, but not sure which of the exercises to focus on. As they have many videos by this point.
I love your content and the deep explanations on topics others don't even cover or seem to understand, but sometimes the exercises seem hard to digest. Is it possible to have a little "cheat sheet" at the end with cues for the exercises and a list of them? It would make it easier to try them out when I look back at this later. Thank you!
Correct breathing is essential. I had to practise this for weeks and I'm still working on it. I can't imagine how these exercises are supposed to help. I couldn't find any successes in all the comments either. Instead of doing these I prefer to continue with my vacuum abs. I started 6 weeks ago and have already achieved great results. but this lower belly still sticks out a bit too much if i relax fully.. The transversus abdominus is the only muscle in this region that can pull the pooch belly in at all. In my opinion, it makes sense to train this muscle.
Ok guys so it really did help, some days my pooch belly was less noticable than i can remember in the last months, obviously my very proeminent pooch wasn't gonna be fixed in one week, so i will keep doing these exercises and also gonna incorporate the quadrupe stance which Conor talks in other fix pooch bellies videos
Thanks very much, Conor. I've learned a great deal watching your videos. I've had a problem breathing for 4 years - an experience of air hunger which occurs when being static. However, air hunger sensation goes when physically active. This seemed to have physicians stumped. I had lung x-ray, abdomen CT scan, cardiovascular stress test, blood tests et al. It was great these tests were undertaken for the sake of clinical investigation but no one mentioned the basis of the problem could be postural.
I have a hard time feeling what support feels like in my body other than than tension. I love how you were calling me out . I was tensing my neck and shoulders. You told me to chill out and it I was able to relax them. I laughed bc that was awesome as far as you being very knowledgeable about how people's bodies react to doing these exercises.
Many Thanks. No I understand my limitation when I inhale ...Initiallly caused by a "closed" rib cage, a forward head posture and too much belly breathing to compensate
*I made a stretching table. You strap your feet in and your shoulders (while you are in a laying down position on the table). Then, with a remote, I have a winch hooked up and it slowly yanks the shoulder harness away from the static leg straps. Thus stretching out your spine.* *Stage 2 is build a mobile exoskeleton suit that keeps your spine stretched out 24/7.*
Huh.. I just did this once, and I can already breath easier. Heh, I need to build up to being able to do the pose for long enough to even do a set, but wow, the difference four to five breaths made is insane!
Maybe this is exactly what I really need! I'll report back if I see any success. But I had to laugh when I saw Trevor in that position. :) That will be funny. Greetings from Germany
I am doing physical therapy now for core rehab, this stuff is sooooo difficult. I discovered I had wrong breathing patterns. My physio asked me if my rib cage was always this wide, mind that I have upper abs, and from a ct scan it’s clear I don’t have a lot of fat but still a pouch belly. But I have a diastasis and scars for 2 c sections. I am going to try it, to me it’s fascinating to understand how we work. And many time we have the illusion to have the correct posture, the correct breathing and we discover that was just that, an illusion 😆
I heard another reason can also be in women with severe osteoporosis if they have lost inches between ribcage and pelvic bone due to compression and/or shrinkage of the spine, this can also cause the stomach to pooch out due to less space. Have you heard of that?
Question: How are these two exercises meant to help the belly while standing? Should we try to replicate the position in the second exercise while we stand? Thanks.
Great vid! Doing exercises now. In my case this has been causing my breathing difficulties for years and didn’t know. Do you think these exercises alone are enough to pretty much reverse this or should I seek out someone in pt?
There's an intermittent noise in your audio mix that probably can't be heard by most people, but as a musician, it's extremely disturbing. It's not loud, but it's unnerving. I'm not sure what this comment will accomplish, but, yeah... Love the video, though.
Someone mentioned handstands which is interesting. I do find some of the anterior chest openers pretty difficult to execute without tensing up - like the crab positions (not shown here) and the first progression. i'm wondering if hanging upside down from the bar (eg with gravity boots that clip on) would that open up the both the chest and upper back - maybe with an (inverted) low reach.
I don’t get it… They say breath to your belly and not rib, and now this guy said breath to your rib cage? So now I have to choose between comfort and aesthetics?
No you should breath in both Areas. And this is a excersice for expanding your Ribcage. But we all mostly breath in the Ribcage, so its sometimes better in your dayli Living to Focus on breathing in your Stomach
I need this. I would love to fix my poochy belly and sleep apnea at the same time. The wife keeps thinking I need to lose weight. I think my breathing mechanics and tongue are just weak
Hi conor. I have a question that i dont find an answer to. Right side of my face is bigger. Thats the lower part (my jaw) and i dont know what could help it. For a fact i've realized my right shoulder is lower than the left one. Asymmetry in my face is obvious and not just a bit. Please help me out. Thanks.
@@CatSchrodingers have been mewing now for almost a year. Also to mention, as a kid (until 12) i had a very good posture, always straight even in the toilet lol
@@S_mmdv I still think you should go to orthodontist and ask. Our teeth sometimes do weird things especially if you are around the age of wisdom teeth coming out. If they are not out yet they might be pushing your jaw. Even if they are all out and you had space for them your jaw still reshapes a bit. Its probably something that can have a relatively easy fix. Best of luck!
@@CatSchrodingers yes youre so right. My teeth are close to each other and its like inverted? I hope you understand what i mean. Theyre like pointing a little inwards.
Check out his video on face asymmetry! He has one! And he does have a couple videos regarding lateralization and rotated hip/ribs and shoulder girdle/ neck, I just watched it this morning. Very good!
Just lose below 3 pounds a week and you can fix this as your stomach can work its way to get back to its original form. Cause burning to much wait to fast can make this a permanent thing.
Anyone else had a lot of pressure in their head during the first exercise making it hard to breathe? I can only breathe in/out in short bursts. Does this go away?
I have a pooch belly and back pain for more then 8 years will this mean my pelvic floor dysfunction its the problem? And if so will this exercises help for that too?
My chiro has been drilling posture into my head, since I round my shoulders so much carrying these boobs around. 😫 I've definitely compressed my lower back as well 😅

Dear Conor Harris, so how to breathe in live correclty? Using belly or chest?

Would a downward dog be the same as Exercise #1? Is it just less stressful on the shoulders to have the legs raised?
