From a purely technical point of view, how does a person living under Russian occupation receive a pension from Ukraine? I cannot understand this. There is no banking system that allows the transit of Ukrainian money through Russian-controlled areas. Ukrainian banks are no longer operational in those areas, and it is not possible to cross the front line to withdraw your pension in cash. And even if it were possible, I don't think Ukrainian hryvnias are expendable in Russian-controlled areas. So, I wonder, how do they do it?

They forgot to name one principal factor pushing Mariupolans in favor of Russia. Under Ukaraine, in 100% Russian-speaking Mariupol, everything (legal relations, advertisments, street names, education, radio, tv etc.) was in Ukrainian. Now, Mariupilans at last got the chance to speak their mother tongue freely. Plus Russian pensions and wages and baby subsidies are ca. 10 times higher than Ukrainian

I doubt that pensions can be 10 times higher. I know that many ukrainians preferred Russia over Ukrain because things were more "orderly" (in their minds) and pensions better, but hardly 10 times better...?

@@p.arasit7179 not 10 times, approximately 4-5 times highter. There are lots of interviews of Mariupol people, they tell exactly how much they receive now. Russian pension and other social payments are higher then Ukrainian, that's just a fact. And Crimean people don't receive pension since March 2014, and didn't have water access and electricity since March 2014. It shows how much Ukrainian government really cares about Mariupol people and Crimean people.

What's the problem? Of course it was in Ukrainian. Mariupol is part of Ukraine. They were always free to speak what they wanted. There is no way that the pensions and wages you claim is true. Russians live in terrible poverty outside of Moscow and St. Petersburg. Your comments suggest that Russia has some kind of ownership of Ukraine. It doesn't. Ukraine will regain all "occupied" territories. If ethnic Russians don't like this, then get out. Many residents of Donbass have relatives living in Russia. Donbass has always had close ties with Russia. What kind of assimilation are you talking about ? What did you mean by this meaning? Most of Ukraine is Russian-speaking, and there are residents of Ukraine who can't even speak Ukrainian.
The occupiers do not pay benefits, salaries, pensions. They do not restore or build infrastructure, schools, hospitals, kindergartens , parks, squares, factories, residential buildings.
Russia is building , restoring , paying pensions , allowances , salaries , and wants the city to grow and develop .
The occupier will never do this, the occupier does not care about the problems of the city and citizens
Bus and trolleybus traffic has been launched in Mariupol, preparations have begun for the restoration of the tram system. Residents have heat , electricity and water supply .
