- Previously NOTORIOUS East 149th Street and 3rd Avenue in the South Bronx NY is actually a much nicer place to be now with good people. This area of the Melrose neighborhood is also known as The Hub because it is a converging point of East 149th Street, 3rd Avenue, Willis Avenue, and Melrose Avenue. The Hub of South Bronx has undergone major facelifts over the years and it is no longer synonymous with the urban decay you might have seen in old pictures. The Bronx NY is filled with surprises. Enjoy this New York City tour. This video was shot around July 30th, 2022.

TRUTH about The Bronx🔥😍➡ ruclips.net/video/tFJnjicQ2aA/видео.html
The Thrid Avenue Elevated line is definitely missing right now that used to connect to the 2 5 trains free transfer s right down stairs and upstairs for the 8 Thrid Avenue Elevated line down stairs for the 2 5 trains 🚃. Now the Thrid Avenue Elevated line is gone.

The Bronx is the only place in Ny where it feels and looks like the old New York
Interesting comparison to the old NY, but good to know. 🤔
i agreed with you
That's because gentrification hasn't hit there
Feels like pre 911
Real New Yorkers know the feeling
@@vincentkennedy3487good!
Love the vibe. It has a beat all its own. I was born and raised in the Bronx and worked there in the hub.
Hey Sharon, I see you have the true South BX DNA inside you. Respect 🤗🙌🏿 I plan doing more videos there this summer so stay tuned. 😊
GhettoVille
🤣It's more like CityVille, I guarantee.
It's looks so 1990s and it looks like people don't know there are much more better places to live then the dirty Bronx. I wouldn't live anywhere in New York City 😴😴😴😴
There are different perspectives and I fully respect your view. 😊Thanks for sharing btw.
Thanks for your video I’m a bronx girl that move to ohio but miss New York badly can’t wait to finish my nursing degree I’m definitely going back home 🏡 ❤
New York’s unique bustling city life is what’s missing in other cities. Anyway, The Bronx awaits you. 🤗
Please leave at earliest 😄🙏
Yikes Ohio.
Bronx born! Nothing like the diversity and up beat of south Bronx.
👍🏾😊
Some things never change
Lol, you are so right. 😊
That was a Beautiful area 75 years ago it will never be the same.
Thanks for letting us know in which direction things are changing. Hopefully, it’ll all get better soon.
You could say the same thing for the entire Country
Even 60 years ago
Everything is not the same from over 75 yrs ago 😂😂😂😂
I left in 1969 you are so right
Nice tour 💘 Back in the day. Alexanders. Dept. Store was the go too store ❤ Woolworth u could find almost anything 💘
Thanks for sharing that piece of history. I never heard of those stores. 👍🏾💯😊
That’s the hood! South Bronx is so gritty, tons of shootings and crime happens there, just not reported lol.. 😅
Hmm....I don't know the facts but not reporting with such stuff happening low-key is the terrifying part. I need to keep the eyes and ears 2x wide open 'cos I walk around freely like nothing happens here.
@@EdGoPlaces yeah it’s bad out there, one of my good college friends is a cop out there… I get chills when he talks about what goes down out there 😅
@@Ovakill22 I'll keep that in mind as I navigate the streets. 🙏🏾

The Bronx and New York in general is so diverse
100% right, King.
@@EdGoPlaces here in St Louis it’s just black and white
@@kingb6047 That tells me that St. Louis still has the feel of the "original" demography of the USA. Most economic migrants tend to go to larger cities where it's easier to find work. This has contributed to the variety of people you see in the streets of NYC, Miami, Los Angeles, Jersey City, etc.
@@EdGoPlaces yes that is very true and it’s very prejudiced here not diverse at all
@@kingb6047good, keep it that way
As a New Yorker, I'm noticing there are so few trees. So sad. Must get so hot in the summer there.
There are green spaces but not enough to counter the huge population size. However, it gets so much greener once you go beyond the city boundaries to places like Westchester, Rockland counties, etc.
Yep. If you know what's good for you stay far away from the South Bronx
@@EdGoPlaces I've lived in Manhattan for close to 20 years and know the city and Westchester very well. I was commenting specifically on the south Bronx in this video.
@@skylineemily Oh yes! I agree. This part of South BX is virtually treeless.
It's miserable I mean hottttt
Beautiful summer vibes!!! Thanks for the tour! Have a great weekend.
Thank you! You too! 😊
To me, nothing says Summer in The Bronx like walking down the street and hearing the Mt. Softee Truck playing it’s sweet tune. To this day areas like Belmont were the REAL Little Italy of The Bronx exists still attracts people during the day for its Italian Deli’s Cafes and Mom & Pop food shops. Crotona Park 🌳, City Island 🛳 , Orchard Beach 🏖 The Botanical Garden 🌸 and The Bronx Zoo 🐘 -- all still worth a trip! The same old pigeons and squirrels await!!!
Yes Amy, you were spot on with that Belmont (Real Little Italy) area. They usually have nice family street fairs with fun rides for kids: summer to fall. Also as noted, It's closeness to all the Green spaces makes it an ideal place to enjoy quality time. Thanks for acknowledging the pigeons and squirrels 🤣🤣 They never starve.
YEAH then get shot SMH
the good old days
The " BRONXS " cool stimulating city life . Looks like a great place to visit . As for living I preferred the country . The dawn ,the morning sounds, the slower pace humans I know and met .
Quality life is priceless. You have a good point, Chris. 👍🏾

Looking Fresh Boogie Down Bronx - makes me homesick for the 80's
It's great to revisit the past, 🤗 through our lens, thurstonhowellll 😊
Fun fact: you see the subway station back in the days that subway station didn’t use to be underground which is where the 2 and 5 run a train used to run elevated directly on top of third avenue third avenue looked so different It was called the third avenue irt line
Interesting info, Orbited422. I googled IRT Third Avenue subway and saw some cool vintage photos 📸
I worked in that neighborhood for two years. A junkie/crackhead paradise. I was always looking over my shoulder. I hated it.
I feel what you went through, Mark. Being on the edge and not knowing when to expect the next punch, slash or smack over your shoulders is not a good feeling at all. Imagine me walking the streets with my eye glued to my lens. Thankfully, 99% of people have been kind to me on the BX streets so far.
@@EdGoPlaces People can be surprisingly good and kind.
@@ivanvanogre-nd1sw That's what keeps this world smiling. 😊
No thank you! I prefer trees and a whole lot less people. Not a fan of asphalt, concrete, scaffolding and too many people!
I hear you, Joe. 🙌🏿 Lots of trees and the natural environment in general is wholesome and heals.
@@EdGoPlaces feeds the soul! I'm blessed.
3 rd world
I'd say it's the habits of some people that make it look like a 3rd world neighborhood. On the other hand, the city planning, infrastructure, and services separate this place from a typical 3rd world country.
Wow! Seems like EVERYBODY is going SOMEWHERE and NOWHERE all at once! despite that, it has a vibrancy about it.
Awesome👌👌really enjoyed it my friend, great scenes from NY
Awesome thank you D&B! 👍🏾

My first time hearing this BX-BR comparison, 🇧🇷🤭🇺🇸. I've never been to Brazil (yet) and I'm guessing they also party and hangout alot in the streets like this Bronx-Style Summer video I released today. ruclips.net/video/1W_XlHKdXOk/видео.html
@@EdGoPlaces I don't know if you knew about the old 8 Third Ave Elevated line used to run between Gun hill road Clearmount Avenue Webster Ave Bronx and 149 street Thrid Avenue connecting with the 2 5 trains and the BX 55 buses back in 1973 1974.
The racial makeup gives me that same feeling. I think it's all the Puerto-Ricans. Outside of the East Coast I don't think other Americans encounter many Puerto-Rican people. Even the Black people look like they come from somewhere else.
I like it.
@@ivanvanogre-nd1sw Sure!...NYC has the largest population of Puerto Ricans in the country outside Puerto Rico itself and I believe PA, NJ and CT follows. There are lots of Caribbean blacks here too. I cannot skip the Dominicans. They are here in large numbers also.

Hey yo this is one of the absolute best RUclips videos on inner city / hood life because you are not afraid to get out amongst the people…a lot of dudes make a title that says something like “ NewYork city’s most dangerous hood “ but when you watch it they drive around & it’s hardly anybody outside, I like how you use outstanding video quality 4k@60fps & you know how to pan smoothly without jerking the camera too fast & your out amongst the people giving viewers a real life feel….I shoot Dragracing videos & I’m in the process of starting up another RUclips channel exclusively for hood videos etc ….I always tell my friends that I’m gonna bring a real life element to my videos where the viewer can actually feel wherever I’m at whether it be South central LosAngeles or Brooklyn NY etc….but homie you beat me to the punch, Congratulations on being the first to do this….there’s other RUclipsrs who do hood videos but they are so big & everybody knows them to the point where everything seems fake & staged, the interviews & everything But your style is authentic you get people seeing you record & they yell a shoutout or a freestyle at the camera 👍 giving people real life action instead of these cheesy staged interviews etc…keep up the outstanding work & stay real 🙏🙏🙏🔥🔥🔥🔥👍👍👍👏👏👏👏🏆🥇🥇🥇🥇
Frank, you blew me away with those thoughtful words and I am deeply humbled 🙏🏾. Your analysis of my content was constructive. You didn't mince words and actually left me with pointers that I need to double down on in order to improve. wow! 🙏🏾👍🏾🤗
Thank you so much for making your “walk about” videos of my most loved Bronx. To some people those busy streets full of music, venders, and electricity...they may see a slum. But to me the Bronx full of music, vendors, and electricity..to me it’s home! My mom lived in the projects of the Burke Street station. She passed on back in 2015. She was the only family I had and my reason for going back home to visit. But with her gone, I can only see and feel home through your videos. Thank you for taking me back home!
It's good to know that the video brought you cherished family memories. May your mom's soul rest in peace, Olgar. People stare so hard at the imperfections of The Bronx and miss its beauty. Like you, I see life and beauty within the hustle and bustle.

I moved from New York to Hertford North Carolina then i moved to Philadelphia Pennsylvania and now I live in Darby Pennsylvania but, i am extremely miss New York especially The Bronx and Queens 👸.
I bet that The Bronx differentiates itself out of the others you mention just by its crowd and high energy level. As we enter the summer, the sidewalks become an extension of people's living spaces..... same as when you were here. 😊
Good video
Thanks for the visit, Franklin and glad you enjoyed it 😊

It's 2023, You must be cuckoo for Cocoa Puffs, Bronx Resident here. The Hub is a Cesspool my friend. H-Heads, Meth heads, Weed hedz, Alcoholics, Homeless people and denizens smoking that fake weed are sprinkled all over that specific area. Roberto Clemente park, as small as it is. Is Ground Zero for this particular population too. A few stores are closing up shop over there I might add. The bright light in my opinion is the steady influx of Central American food sellers, setting up shop on the sidewalks along the BX 19 bus line.
it was a very affordable shopping area and a few blocks up was the infamous rap street wear hip hop clothing emporium known to all as the jew man wear you brought your 3'button black leather sport jacket and your street kicks
3:30 Cameraman is definitely checking red shorts out.

Amazing. I lived in the Andrew Jackson Houses projectson 158th Street and Courtland avenue from 1961 to 1965. Very rough back then. Lots of inter-project fights between the The Jackson, Melrose, and Mott Haven housing project.
At least it was lots of fighting and not shooting so that didn't seem like a war zone if I'm guessing right.
Beautiful and wonderful. Thanks for this.

@@EdGoPlaces cellphones killed criminality
@@BestofWhatsAround83 I did a little reading after seeing your comment and realized that your point is supported by a June 2019 Columbia University research that saw US homicide rates fall sharply in the early 1990s, the same decade that saw the mainstreaming of cell phones. People were reporting crimes faster instead of having to go to the nearest phone booth. Personally, I see it as one criminality being transitioned to the underground world. Kids have porn at their fingertips and are heavily distracted in the classroom. Drug deals and other more serious crimes like trafficking take place while seating on your couch. The list goes on and on...
It'd be great if you posted the date and time of year of your videos.
Thanks for bringing this issue up 👍🏾. I double checked this video in particular and I don't see any reason why the date and time shouldn't be showing because the feature is activated. Do you need A vest?
Honestly, I'd say No. Vest not needed. The best protection will be using basic intuition and good reason. For example, there's nothing bad about making a nod when your eyes lock on with someone, not coming out as cocky, a subtle smile at the right moment and little things like, "my fault" when you mistakenly bump into someone and stuff like that.
