This is one of my favorite moments in all of the TGA ceremonies, and I wish they were able to bring more original composers to perform music for their own games in these performances
I still think it’s kinda funny how Stray doesn’t have a defined song but instead of taking the intro or the first stage they took a silly quirky song such as “The Way You Compute Tonight” and turned it into a musical masterpiece that could easily transition into Elden Ring is kind of funny. I’m never gonna get over that. Also the Balatro theme is just so good here too

Lorne Balfe is no slouch, though! He does a fantastic job bringing the trumpets into key in the background during the transition. I think he turned a challenging transition into a real highlight
i like game awards orchestra 2019 where they started to used the intro of game awards then transition song every game nominees end in same intro.... it was amazing/gem to listened every performance of game awards ..as long flute guy is there solid every performance
2018 concert has a special place in my heart... There is such variety in each game's theme but they are amazingly recomposed and connected to feel like a holistic performance. Also the games that year just happen to have some of the best and most iconic theme music too!
2024 was probably the best performance overall. Really unique music this year and all really great pieces. The only real exception is Elden Ring. It's my favourite game up there, but they just chose such a weak track, especially when the Balatro theme comes on straight after.
Favourite song from each year 2017: Persona 5 2018: Spider-Man 2019: Resident Evil 2 2020: Doom Eternal 2021: Metroid: Dread 2022: Xenoblade Chronicles 3 2023: The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom 2024: Balatro My favourite year is probably either 2020 or 2024
It's not just that they're nominated, it's that they're usually really close tbh! Balatro and Celeste were easy #2 picks both years they were nominated.
Man, seeing Pedro Eustache performing in the GOTY orchestra is such a treat. Absolutely loved his musical performances in Dune. Astro Bot for 2024 hits the same emotional notes that Animal Crossing did in 2020. Genuinely very sweet musical moment. ❤
Thanks a lot for putting this together! There are a few I missed like 2023. My favorites are 2018 and yesterdays (2024) one. Definitely enjoyed 2024 more than any other. Amazing!
Damn, even after listening to them all back to back, Balatro and Astro Bot stand out so strongly. Literally couldn’t keep a smile off my face if I tried
It's the highlight of The Game Awards every year, and while I love hearing some of the most amazing themes these past years, they absolutely peaked with Balatro. Hands down, the best orchestral arrangement!

Wonder -> Resident Evil 4 -> The Legend of Zelda: TOTK 🥈2024 :: 24:19 | Every song, all bangers (Metaphor: Refantazio, Elden Ring: SOFE, (25:21) BALATRO 🥇, Astro Bot, Black Myth: Wukong, FFVII: Rebirth)
Inspired by @Tabulatelk15's comment here, Favourite song segment from each year: 2017 - Persona 5 2018 - Monster Hunter World 2019 - Resident Evil 2 2020 - Animal Crossing: New Horizons 2021 - Psychonauts 2 2022 - Stray 2023 - The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom 2024 - Astro Bot 2020 and 2024 are probably the strongest medleys overall imo, but I do also really like 2021's.
My favorite part of each year: 2017: Super Mario Odyssey 2018: Celeste 2019: Resident Evil 2 2020: Ghost of Tsushima 2021: Metroid Dread 2022: Xenoblade Chronicles 3 2023: Super Mario Bros Wonder 2024: Astro Bot With my two favorites from the two recent years, I can conclude that if it sounds happy, I’m gonna love it.
i'l admit the transition to astro bot made me smile.... and then my smile went away cause that smile made me have a thought... "Holy crap is this game about to win GOTY?" Side note... for 2023 I got to give it to Zelda for happy vibes.
As much as I didn't like Astrobot fundamentally, the transition into its theme from Balatro worked so well and gives me chills every time I listen to it. And I have a feeling it's because the melody moved from a primarily minor/sharp epic tone to a purely major feel good tone which is something I've always loved in music. It was similarly effective for Super Mario Bros. Wonder's transition but not as chill inducing.
It's kind of funny how the Video Game Awards suddenly became one of the most prestigious orchestral events of the year, simply because when else are you going to get a hundred million people intently tuning in on a live orchestral performance? Video game music has always been highly respected in the music industry, though. After all, where else are problems like "I need a musical theme that can go on for hours in the background without getting irritating or boring" that were solved in the Baroque period ever going to show up in modern life?
I loved this years transitions, balatro into astro and wukong was so smooth, the ending part also with FFVII into the game awards theme really transmitted the hype of the moment Since E3 is dead I'm still glad we have a show where games are celebrated by the whole community Ps: I am astrobot 🤖 Ps2: as 🤖 tro🤖 bot🤖
Favorite from each year 2017: Persona 5 2018: God of War 2019: Smash Bros Ultimate 2020: Last of Us Part II 2021: Metroid Dread 2022: God of War: Ragnarök 2023: The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom 2024: Black Myth: Wukong
The medleys are always fire, but the transition from FFVII's Let The Battles Begin into The Only Thing They Fear Is You from Doom Eternal is perfection.
Favourite performance from each year: 2017: Horizon: Zero Dawn 2018: God of War 2019: Super Smash Bros. Ultimate 2020: Animal Crossing: New Horizons 2021: Metroid Dread 2022: Xenoblade Chronicles 3 2023: The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom 2024: Balatro

Inspired by @Tabulatelk15's comment here,
Favourite song segment from each year:
2017 - Persona 5
2018 - Monster Hunter World
2019 - Resident Evil 2
2020 - Animal Crossing: New Horizons
2021 - Psychonauts 2
2022 - Stray
2023 - The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom
2024 - Astro Bot
2020 and 2024 are probably the strongest medleys overall imo, but I do also really like 2021's.
My favorite part of each year:
2017: Super Mario Odyssey
2018: Celeste
2019: Resident Evil 2
2020: Ghost of Tsushima
2021: Metroid Dread
2022: Xenoblade Chronicles 3
2023: Super Mario Bros Wonder
2024: Astro Bot
With my two favorites from the two recent years, I can conclude that if it sounds happy, I’m gonna love it.
There is also more like RDR2 and control and resident evil 4 remake
i'l admit the transition to astro bot made me smile.... and then my smile went away cause that smile made me have a thought...
"Holy crap is this game about to win GOTY?"
Side note... for 2023 I got to give it to Zelda for happy vibes.
Astro bot really?
@@teeweijun1925 it have a special sound
@@teeweijun1925I AM ASTRO BOT
8:53 escuchar el tema principal de Super Smash Bros Ultimate es hermoso, me da escalofríos y me hace llorar de felicidad
Just for nostalgia, I have to say 2022 was my favourite medley. The transition from Plague Tale into Stray into Elden Ring gives me chills every time
2017 - Persona 5
2018 - Celeste
2019 - Resident Evil 2
2020 - Doom Eternal
2021 - Metroid: Dread
2022 - Xenoblade Chronicles 3
2023 - Legend of Zelda
2024 - Black Myth Wukong
Honorable Mentions to Baldurs Gate, the whole Medley of 2022 (Stray, principally) and GOW 2018
By now the "Game Awards" motif is iconic
Composed by hans zimmer himself
It's just getting better and better.
2018, 2020 and 2024 are just fucking peak
I loved this years transitions, balatro into astro and wukong was so smooth, the ending part also with FFVII into the game awards theme really transmitted the hype of the moment
Since E3 is dead I'm still glad we have a show where games are celebrated by the whole community
Ps: I am astrobot 🤖
Ps2: as 🤖 tro🤖 bot🤖
2018 was so epic, i got chills in every song
Favorite from each year
2017: Persona 5
2018: God of War
2019: Smash Bros Ultimate
2020: Last of Us Part II
2021: Metroid Dread
2022: God of War: Ragnarök
2023: The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom
2024: Black Myth: Wukong
Wukong so nice
2017 Persona 5 River in the Desert always gives me chills, it's such a unique song
The medleys are always fire, but the transition from FFVII's Let The Battles Begin into The Only Thing They Fear Is You from Doom Eternal is perfection.
Chills every time, i wish these went on longer, i love TGA orchestra
