    I'm glad I found your page. So informative! I'm in the market for a new garage door opener and had been looking at the wall mount options. Too bad you don't operate in southwest Ontario, haha.

    I’m definitely of the camp that the Liftmaster wall mount is more reliable. I’ve had many issues with the shaft assembly breaking on the Genies. I haven’t run into the excessive force issue yet with the Liftmaster but I guess time will tell.

      Thanks for sharing your feedback. I'm glad you're not having trouble with the LiftMaster openers.
      What type of garage door were you installing the Genie 6170 on?
      What did Genie do to try to resolve your issues?
      Remind me what state or area you service?

      @@sosgds I’m in Florida. I’ve installed these on fully insulated doors (double skin) 9x8 and 16x8. I’ve also installed these on oversized non insulated doors (16x 12 or 14 if I remember correctly) as well as hi lift doors. The 1st time they failed on me was an install where I had a 16x8 and 2 9x8 fully insulated doors that had high lift tracking. After 2 years they all suffered the same issue. The big door maybe I could see but I don’t see why they would have broken on the smaller doors. It just seems to me they are cheaply made when compared to the Liftmaster

      Thank you for sharing you experience and insight. I would agree for something list this to happen on a bigger door. But for small doors that is not common.

    Just had an Amarr Lincoln 3000 8x18 insulated garage door installed. Considering removing the old Sears overhead chain track system which was operating a heavy wood door for decades. That is disconnected for the time being. Choosing between the wall mounts as Liftmaster98022, ChamberlainRJO101 and the Genie 6000 series all carry a history of risk issues with reliability and quality. Not sure we even need all the features offered considering the old Sears unit had none. Keeping all options open without a rush.

      Hello! Thank you for sharing your experience. The 3 options you mentioned all have strengths and weaknesses. But like you said, no need to rush. Please feel free to reach out if you have any questions.

      @@sosgds Sincerely appreciate your experience as an installer. Half afraid to choose and find out after I own any of the wall mount options. Certainly a center pull is cheaper. There is so much to like and dislike about each one.

      It's my pleasure. Truly the best opener for you will be the one that fits you and your family's needs. Trolley openers have been around for a while and they offer a reliable experience.

      I would go trolly over side mount every single day of the week. The only time I go side mount is situations that absolutely need it. The trolly systems less finicky and have been tried and true. That’s just my opinion though!

    I wasn't aware the sprocket inside was plastic. I definitely prefer the Genie to the chamberlain/liftmaster jackshaft, I think genie is lacking a bit in the features/accessories but the motors are quieter and stronger then the LM motors are. I know there's some people that don't like the pulsing but I've never minded it, and I'm not really sure how the 98022 detects cable slack if at all.

    Great video. Just curious do u ever get a wobble w any of ur units? I just put in a Genie and it wobbles. Not sure if I should stabilize it more w more brackets or not. What u think?? Thanks

    • @banjo215
      @banjo215 5 месяцев назад +1

      Is there any curvature to the torsion spring bar? I would think the wobble would be from that or the adaptor not being completely square. If neither are the case then more support for the opener would likely be called for. Not 100% sure over the internet though.

    • @sosgds
      @sosgds  5 месяцев назад +1

      Excellent question. For most wall mount openers there will always be a slight wobble. This does not affect the function of the opener. Yet you can do some things to stabilize the tube to minimize the wobble.
      Here's a video on what another garage door company does:

      That is a good point. Some torsion tubes are not straight and thus can create a wobble effect.
      Have you seen this video on how to stabilize a tube with a wall mount opener?

      Hello! Thank you for your question!
      As the dealer installer I love the simplicity behind the genie 6170 wall mount garage door opener. One of the main features of this wall mount garage door opener is the fact that the wall button is wireless. Therefore you're not having to worry about utilizing or stapling wire from the man door over to the opener.

      That’s interesting! I hear they are fantastic units. A friend that works at a local garage door company uses genie exclusively and he swears by them. Looking forward to trying one.
