How come all the design from the new absolute universe wins my heart, this is just not fair. First Batman and his bat eared blades, then it was Womder woman and her giant Berserk Sword then it Superman and his awesome metallic costume.
The changes they made to these key heroes is the DC I remember as a kid. If they incorporated this into modern DC Media as Movies they would be making a alot by now.
I was never that into Superman that much, but this Absolute universe is going to have me reading ever book that comes about about them. I’m so hyped for this universe
HELL YEAH!! I absolutely LOVE this 1st issue, it's a perfect set up to such an interesting and clever remixing of Superman's origin! The Champion of the downtrodden workings class, Son of two disgraced super geniuses turned activists against this new oppressive status based Kryptonian society that inevitably fell to the consumption of resources and the idea of that repeating itself here on Earth with Brainiac and Lois Lane as the driving forces behind it is an awesome origin for Superman and story going forward which so far is immaculately executed!
I like that we get to see a version of Kal-El have an interesting life on Krypton before he revealed his existence to the public when he saved the civilians from Lazarus Corps. Jason Aaron his done a great job of providing backstory and origins to this version of Superman. Overall, this comic is onto a great start.
Hell yeah!! It's amazing to get so much information on the new culture of Krypton and to not only get Jor and Lara's perspectives on it but also Kal's and how they all react to living in and being effected by it, it's such an interesting new world to be in so far!
This goes to show that you can have a darker and edgier take on Superman *without* being so cynical about it or completely ignoring the fundamental parts of the character I totally approve of a Superman story that isn't even bothering to be subtle about its "working class vs the snooty ruling class" theme
This needs to become the new mainstream Superman everybody's tired of the old origin hope they bring Lex back to his mad scientist roots super genius with no moral restrictions.

I know that Louis and Supes being a couple is long-held Superman lore...but I really liked the New 52 idea of he and Wonder Woman being a couple. It just always made more sense to me that two nearly immortal, almost perfect God-like beings would form a romantic connection than a God-man and a human reporter. I get the underlying symbolism of Superman connecting with humanity through love, but still, Clark and Diana feel better to me as a power couple than Clark and Louis does. It's also cool to see them kicking ass together. I kind of hope that he and Louis stay, at best, eventual friends. I want to see them give the Supes/WW dynamic another go with this new retelling of the story since Superman's character and origins have been changed so completely.
Is actually interesting, that Louis and Superman, at least for now, are enemy in different sides. I knew Louis and Superman are not always became lovers but, that's really interesting to see if they are against each other.

The one that sticks out most to me is “ultra boy” which would be a good one… this new Universe has no restriction when it comes to past present or future characters so why not? Have an ultra-beast crash on earth and make a human ultra boy, or girl out of some science experiment or accident… Cyborg would be a good one instead of him being an accident make him a biocybernetic alien with Amazo-type ability or like Bastion from x men 97 human-sentinel hybrid...
