In this video I talk about my 10 years of van life, seasonal work, and RUclips.
*My name is Brian. I started living full time in a self built camper van in 2014 in my hometown of San Diego, CA. I hit the road full-time in 2015 to pursue seasonal work and travel around the U.S. I find free camping on public land and enjoy photography, hiking, biking, and kayaking in nature. I took the whole scoop of seeds as is from the cantaloupe and dumped them in a bucket of dirt and lightly covered them. Surprise! They came up and I sniped the "micro greens" . Those tiny plants tasted just like a slice of ripe delicious cantaloupe!

In 2015 my family and I ended up in a homeless shelter. The circumstances behind that were so extreme I didn’t really have hope that it would ever change. But I worked hard and got us out of the shelter. I discovered your channel while I was in the shelter. In late 2016 when you were really getting your feet under you, so was I. I figured out how to support a family on one income. My wife is mentally ill and parts of the year she can work and sometimes she can’t. 9 years later the kids are grown and we’re kind of free. I seemed to find parallels of my life in your videos. Knowing that if things ever got really bad we could just live in a vehicle and have a pretty decent like gave me hope. Seeing you improve over time gave me hope. I really appreciate your lived experiences. Hope to shake your hand one day.

Thank you for giving Hobbs a safe, secure, home with love. Our first family dog (Duke) was not good with other dogs but was the most kind and loving to all our family members so I understand the challenges.

I have been watching you from the beginning. Hardly ever miss a video. I'm not full time but I am on the road a lot doing Motorhome deliveries with my tow-car micro camper, which is my home away from home.

Wanted to say thank you for doing what you do - your videos are always enjoyable and for myself, a working stiff with a mortgage and kids, the videos are almost therapeutic in ways - always a reminder that options exist , there are other ways to live this life. Keep going. You’re doing great and your positivity spreads, and is contagious.

We’ll be in TX for the eclipse. You might want to book soon as those spots are going fast. We saw the 2017 total eclipse sitting alone in the middle of a field and decided right then we had to see the 2024 one…mind blowing!

Once you wedge the cantaloupe cut it from the rine place the meat in the bowl cut in the bowl slices very easily.

Do you have a specific skill/trade that you enjoy, can capitalize, or new trade/skill/work experience to explore?

Perhaps someone will see this episode and recognize an opportunity to help with Hobbs? Some pets are simply for one person and we adjust for those years of unique companionship. Although he appears to very much appreciate your companionship.
Cantaloupe stop ripening the second they are disconnected from the vine. They do not continue to ripen if left on the counter like many other vegetables, they just start the rotting process.
Especially Appreciated this video as I enjoy hearing of your adventures. Past and present. Only been a sub for yr/2. Love the private country spots you seem to prefer. Livin right. Your superb photography. Always interesting videos.
