Love the Juggernaut Perk Machine feel from it. But also, I enjoying seeing old school stuff from the old days, even tho I’m born after 95 in the 90s. I think it’s very interesting to learn how stuff like this were back in the old days. And man, 10 cents for a bottle? I wish that’s a thing for modern day vending machine prices.
It not only prevents you from pulling multiple bottles at the same time it also will not let a bottle drop into the same place you vended a bottle until the locking mechanism has been reset.
The opening is spring loaded so you can drag the bottle out and then it closes before you could pinch another. They didn't trust people even in the 50s!
Not as rare as you might think, they're all over the place in Michigan. I personally bumped into three of them in the last 2 or 3 years. One at a garage sale, one on Craigslist, and one at the flea market. One of them was a hundred bucks and the other one at the flea market was fully restored and I think they are asking 600
Hey Rusty, I know that's true in the US, but in the UK they are super rare. Definitely the case in that kind of condition. If you can find any restored ones for $600 pls let us know! Thanks.
The spot behind the door has a special lock system in place that prevents more than one bottle being vended at once. Think of it like a collar around the neck of the bottle (that won't let you pull it from the machine) that only gets unlocked when you've put a coin in. When you pull a bottle through, the whole system resets, preventing any other bottles from being removed, until you put another coin in. It's very difficult to articulate and explain over written word, but it's a beautifully elegant mechanism to actually watch in action.
Not quite. They'd thought of people making off with free drinks! Whilst you're free to open the door when you like, there's a mechanical latch that each drink has to be pulled through to take it out. This latch is locked shut, and the size/shape of each bottle can't get through it. Inserting a coin will release the lock, allowing a drink to be pulled through.
Good question. Probably in 1956-- based on what we've been availed of its innards via this video-- the disgruntled would-be consumer would have to approach the property owner and declare, "Hey. I just lost ten cents in your Coke machine." Ultimately (and almost certainly not long afterward) there were mechanisms onboard to return the coin(s) when there was no product to be vended.
I just got the Pepsi Model like this Coke machine It works and gets cold Lots of fun 10 cents WOW ...Its not been restored and is in good condition whats it worth? I also dont know the Year but looks just like the Coke
The designers had thought of that! Vending machines like these use a specially designed latch that locks a bottle in place, preventing you from pulling a bottle out when you haven't paid. It's only when you insert a coin that the mechanism allows the bottle to be pulled out. Once you have, that's what resets the whole system.

We'd definitely be drinking a lot more Cola if so...
I had a perfectly restored one in the 90's. I didn't have the solid door one, but had the glass door. It didn't have a light in it like my V81 does.
Absolutely beautiful awesome machine! Definitely a keeper!
Wow how neat. I would really like to have one in my loft someday.
does it stop you from taking more bottles?
Who knows.
Nope, these were build around trust system.
Mandemon1990 Incorrect it has a mechanism to prevent multiple grabs
It not only prevents you from pulling multiple bottles at the same time it also will not let a bottle drop into the same place you vended a bottle until the locking mechanism has been reset.
That's what I'm dying to know
I got one of these from my grandpa but it needs to be fixed. It's very pretty, though.
make it into a juggernog machine
@@victoresoliz5149 hell no man, that would be destroying history. Also his grandpa really copped a vending machine?
man, they should still make em like this...
I wish! God I miss soda in glass bottles.
What happened if you pull 2 bottle together?
Cool as fcuk!!!!
What stops you from grabbing more than one bottle or was it the honor system back then.

@@HomeLeisureDirect Agree. Down here in Texas one like yours would fetch at least $3000 methinks.
Looks like juggernaut
I would fill it full of beer 😊
What a good price for this machine?
Pop was so good back then, it was better in a glass bottle.
I am have some of the tokens as big as quarter. When did they stopped making them?
The Vendo 56 machines were all produced in the late 1950s. :)
Me encantan esas maguinas antiguas de coca cola saludos desde Costa Rica
Just one problem, no dimes to put in the coin mech in the UK.
Can you adjustment the prices on it?😊
What’s keeping the individual from taking 2 or more?

Iconic
Would love to purchase one for my house
I would love one of these.
They're becoming increasingly difficult to find now. We'll be sure to update again if we get another!
does this work on the honor system (like newspapers vending machines did)?
Not quite. They'd thought of people making off with free drinks!

@@HomeLeisureDirectthank you for this explanation!
What if there are no more bottles? How would you be able to tell?

WOULD LIKE TO KNOW THE VALUE , BECAUSE I WANT TO BUY?
Can you please tell me what that Apple beverage in the machine is?
Appletiser! A lightly carbonated apple flavoured soft drink and a particular favourite of our company videographer. ;)

Cool❤❤
do they take plastic bottles?
We've found that only glass bottles work here. Most plastic bottles tend to be too long to fit.
It looks like the juggernug perk machine in call of duty world of war and call of duty black ops and call of duty black ops2
Btw nice coca cola machine
qvackis thank you someone who agrees
That’s where they got inspiration for the machine design.
That’s what I said!
How did they keep people from taking multiple drinks?
It has a mechanism that blocks any other bottles from being pulled out while one is being pulled pulled out.
@@timmyhudson8643 I've been wondering this for years thinking how tf am I the only one to question this
my grandpa has one
The price of a Coke went from 5 cents in the early 40s to 10 cents by ‘57. Now that’s inflation !!!
1:34 does that mean you could take all with one open

hey look juggernog
Would i be able to fit the "Made in Mexico" Cola bottles?
much too tall, probably only fits snub-nosed bottles like stouts and the american 6 pack they sell with santa on them around christmas time.
@@DrewperttheGnome any idea what model can hold the 355ml?
@@CrimsonFox36 no clue, probably modern conversions and mexican vending machines, but I'm not an expert or anything lol
I wonder how many people put in a dime and grabbed multiple drinks.....I remember they did it with newspapers
