- The new living room floor project has begun. There was a lot of sanding for the rough cut pine boards and o have my work cut out for me. Wish I had a belt sander, would have made this task easier, lesson learned. The cabin is slowly shaping up… it’s taking longer but I have enjoyed every minute of it.
I took some time in the early morning to take in the beauty of the wild nature that surrounds me. I couldn’t live without this! This is what keeps me sane 😉

Just got back from a week away to find this treasure. You look like a Medieval maiden searching the woods for something profound. I hope you find it. Hi, I purchased an orbital sander not so long ago for a project. I found a light pressure with the hands works well to start. I also tip the sander slightly if I wish to focus the sand paper. Another thing you might keep in mind is that we use the sander so that we will work less (slow and steady, my friend).

I have that same Bird Feeder, I got a pie pan and made a hole in the center. I then put in over the bird feeder like a roof, keeps the seed dry and keeps the ole squirrel off. Try it and see. If you put that bungee cord on the feeder that stops the slide from going up and down and the squirrel 🐿 will eat the bird seed. Maybe you want him to eat the seed. You need to stain the edges of your boards. Thanks for sharing.

I hope you fixed the squirrel...I did same...but he chewed the rope...and once again got in...then I used plastic twine...he chewed that...then I wired it shut...he chewed the wire! 🤨...they are determined little stinkers no matter what...But hope yours gets the message you gave him!💪🏽💃🏻☺️...love your floor...all is turning out real neat! Hey Lisette, when staining you can add matte black paint to stain ,paint it on wood ,wait a few minutes and wipe with the grain to lighten stain on wood. This technique will give you an antique appearance like in an ancient tavern ! You'll have to experiment with amount of black to add to stain . Just remember oil with oil , acrylic with acrylic! Minnwax makes stains you can wipe to get desired look .good luck, kid😊 .

Looks like spring is trying to make its appearance up there in your wilderness area! Our high here today in the AZ desert will be a very warm 38 C.(102 F.) Always love the scenery you show us through your videos, and look forward to them each week.
You will get your living room flooring squared away no problem, and I see you got some good varathane coating for the boards, excellent choice! It will be gorgeous when you get it all installed.
That squirrel is sure a hoot to watch with its antics and ending up in the middle of the bird feeder! 🐿You took care of that issue using that bungee cord.

The work that your doing I have done for 40 years. I love working with wood like you are doing. Fabulous work you are doing. Sawdust and wood glue is the best way to fill in the cracks. Just watch you don't use to much glue.

Good morning Lisette. It's starting to take shape with that darker stain color. By adding two clear coats it will definitely protect the wood and give it some shine. It must be different for your two babies to stay outside while your floor dries. That's a lot of wood. And I'm sure a couple more loads will come in as well. Good morning Richard 😊 I am very happy with the stain colour. We were lucky it was such a beautiful warm day and I left all the windows opened at night too when I got the doggies back in. Haven’t read comments about the flooring project, but one thing you may want to consider for the fairly wide joints is various diameters of sisal rope. Leave it natural color for contrast or stain it to match the flooring.
