I love it how you carve nice and slow and calm so as a beginner I can actually see how's its done. Thanks. Other carvers goes so fast it's tough to observe what their doing.
Fantastic piece of art. Such great talent. Did it come easy, (for some it does, or work hard, with many mistakes overcome) to achieve that level? Great Owl, pun intended.
Thank you for posting this video. I am new to this art-retiring from teaching in a year-and I want to master the owl before I move on to bears or other things. You have helped me with the face of these birds. Lovely work.
Thoroughly loved watching this video and your process of making this beautiful piece! Thank you for sharing!💖 I just started carving with a Dremel, and I know I'll want to try chainsaw carving one day. Thanks for sharing your process.
Hi, I hope I have understood your question correctly. The translation was not very clear. I use 1/4 inch chains only. The bars I use: www.chainsawbars.co.uk/product/cannon-carving-quarter-1435cm-3-8-lo-pro-050-53-drive-links/ This bar I use only for the very fine detail: www.chainsawbars.co.uk/product/multi1-bn6a-4p30-a-sugihara-tough-carver-r7-tip-12-1-4-043-68-drive-links/
@LHarreld I'm not sure a silicon sealer would work. The oils allow the wood to "breath" letting moisture levels fluctuate naturally with the weather and allowing the wood to dry naturally with age. A silicon sealer is designed to prevent the ingress of moisture and may even encourage rot to develop as it will trap moisture inside the wood.
Your owl is magnificent. At first I thought it was a sleeping owl which would have looked wonderful too but then you put in the pupils. I guess you didn't need an angle grinder for the project. I was wondering what the small pen-sized burning tool is? Looks very useful for details. Again, lovely sculpture, have you been doing this for a long time i.e. chainsaw sculpting?
Thank you! 😊 Glad you like my owl 🦉 I've been making chainsaw sculptures for about 10 years now. The small blowtorch is actually a "Gas Soldering Iron" I've just removed the soldering tip. It's perfect for the details 😁 I like the texture the saws create. I occasionally use an angle grinder for smooth things like my penguins 🐧

Great job, it’s beautiful! What kind of finish did you put on it?
Thank you 😊 All my carvings are finished with a wood preservative and finally an oil. I'm currently using Osmo UV Protection Oil.
