The pathway between ‘I’m gonna make money the legal way’ to ‘I now own a crime syndicate and am wanted for several accounts of drug smuggling and murder’ is always a delight to see whenever people play this game.
The game seems hell bent on making it the only logical choice. Legal money making is a grind, to put it mildly. Even feeding yourself is a struggle. And then bandits show up, murder your crew and steal all your hard earned goods - showing that crime really does pay.
In your duel with Sad Neil and GiggleWater, it's worth noting that only characters trained in martial arts can punch metal without hurting themselves. Gigglewater crippled his own arm throwing those hooks at Neil.
@@KavsLockedOut "early AA vibes" is exactly right. Sperg lord writeup inbound. I tagged on at the tail end of "that" and AA got bigger. I don't blame the guy or think he should do anything different, but I did enjoy his older angle where the philosophizing came after a long-wrought storyline. One that was ultimately extremely stupid at its core, but made meaningful. That shit takes a lot of work over a long time, and AA has streamlined his style, FWIW. But I miss the mostly goof long series though. Had more time to breathe if that makes sense in a corny armchair produce nothing only consume type of angle 😎
I still think the best/fastest way to grind money is making Red Bandanas. Half piece of cloth for each bandana. Cloth its usuallt 15cs and bandanas can vary from 5 to almost 1000cs each, depending on quality. They are easy to find, light, dont require smuggling and are relatively easy to farm. Just need to grind some money to buy the base schematics for it, which are usually available on any armor/clothing shop on any city. Buy a house right beside a general store who sells cloth, buy all their stock every day, as soon as they open (6am), spend the day crafting bandanas, and you should be able to sell a batch before they close (11pm) and also restock, before spending the night back at crafting them. You should be making more money than you are spending in a handfull of days (starting from zero armorsmith skill). Notice that the better you are at this skill, not only the quality of the equipment will be better but you will also be crafting it significantly faster. Around 20mins each bandana at 80 skill. Also keep in mind that its faster to go from lvl 0 to 80, than 80 to 90, and so on. So remember to keep someone only doing this if you want mastercraft quality equipment.
Jabo playing Kenshi? I was feeling shit today but this literally made me feel better! Favorite game ever and well not the worst youtuber ever! Thank you! Hope the video does well and you'll make more
Two things jumped out at me from what I learned watching the adventures of Torsolo and the Torsquad. 1) stealing yourself some super fast skeleton legs would probably have made everything easier, even if you weren't able to make all your money just from stealing. Legless sneaking is apparently stupid good, and easy to skill grind. 2) the dialogue writing in this game is actually pretty fun! I don't know that I want to dive in myself, but I definitely want to see more content about it. What a delightful fun video! I hope it does well enough you're able to justify doing more Kenshi content, it's got such fantastic emergent storytelling for these kinds of runs.
Little kenshi advice for ya in the future. If you want to avoid raids on your base, it helps to build something (literally anything iirc) a mile or 2 out from it. The visitors will wait at the halfway point inbetween the two indefinitely. And never make it in to either location
9:23 it's actually very possible to live a city life in the game. I set up in Stoat which is one of the UC cities. Saved up from minding copper and looting skimmers/bandits. Bought a building, set up a storage container so I can farm ore more efficiently. Saved up enough money to buy research book, bought a bigger building as well. Researched Leather and Cloth Crafting, then later Plate Crafting. Started crafting armor, got to Specialist Grade and I could sell some armor for like 3000 Cats or more each piece. I could easily afford to buy materials to repeat the process from the local shops. So I was pretty legal.
The best way to make money in Kenshi by far is making bandanas. I've probably made over a thousand bandanas, the specialist grade selling for about 1500 when they only cost ~1/3 of a fabric
I had to pause the video at some parts because I was laughing so hard it caused me to choke on my dinner. Would love to see you make more videos in whatever games you've got inspiration for!'
I have 1200 hrs on Kenshi and i have still never seen anyone escape jail like you did on 7:36. Thats why i love kenshi, there are always new things to discover.

Damn, the first one once he got escape from prison was to attack the Emperor. Skips few steps to fight one of the Big Boss in the game. Thanks that made my day. 😂
Thanks jabo. Idk why but this made me remember playing Sim City 3000 with my dad. I haven't thought about that in a really long time so I just wanted to say thanks for that

Few vague ideas for future Kenshi runs: 1: Since Kenshi cannot be finished per se, I'd say a few good winning conditions would be to either defeat a super powerful NPC (such as the Bugmaster, Tinfist or Mad Cat-Lon) without using assassination (unless that's explicitly part of the challenge) or wipe out one of the major civilized factions (Holy Nation, Shek Kingdom or United Cities). 2: Crossbow only (crossbows aren't bad, but generally either paired with melee fighters or a sidearm. Requiring a constant stream of ammunition might also make things more interesting). 3: Garbage gear only. Only weapons that have the "Model # Rusted Junk" note in their describtion and [Prototype Grade] clothing/armour. No martial arts (since at a certain skill level, fists will just become better than using bad quality weapons). 4: "We have prosthetics at home". All used characters need to have their limbs replaced with the "Economy" series of robotic prosthetics. 5: No gear. Martial Arts only, all naked and afraid. 6: Freed slaves only. Must pick the enslaved start. The only way to recruit new members is to free slaves from the holy nation and united cities labour camps and hope that they join you. No buying slaves and releasing them, obviously. 7: Beastmaster run. No dealing damage with your character and no recruiting of other humanoid characters. If you want to fight, you have to purchase bonedogs, goats, garru, any of the three types of bull or crabs. 8: Fog Lads. Establish an outpost in the fog isles. All used equipment must be bought, looted or produced within the fog isles area of the map (the city of Mongrel included). Characters may only be recruited in Mongrel. You are allowed to leave the fog, but you mustn't bring anything back from outside unless it cannot be obtained or produced in the fog at all (for instance, I think there's some research items that might not be sold in Mongrel). 9: Outlaw run. Must not have do business within any of the major factions. The only ones you're allowed to peacefully interact with are the Shinobi Thieves and Outlaw Factions like the one running the Hub. Resources must not be obtained through honest labour but either stolen or looted off defeated enemies (or purchased from the factions I mentioned before using your ill-begotten gains).
