The porcupine is a fascinating creature known for its unique defense mechanism. Covered in sharp quills or spines, it uses them as a deterrent against predators. Found in various parts of the world, including North and South America, Africa, and Asia, porcupines are primarily herbivores, feeding on plants, bark, and leaves. They have a stout body, small ears, and a distinctive appearance with their quills standing upright when threatened. Despite their prickly exterior, porcupines are generally peaceful animals and prefer to avoid confrontation. Love the last clip, after describing how dangerous they can be with quills, it’s just sitting there chill cute af 😂
I've heard that as long as the porcupine is calm, and as long as you pet them in the same direction the quills point, it's not much to worry about
They are barbed. Removing them causes harm. The dog is very obedient, but it is probably in pain. It is the kind that might snap, one day, after taking too much abuse. The owner is an idiot to just pull them all out so fast. He has no idea of being gentle or careful. The dog should be taken to a vet. The owner should not have animals! He has proven himself unfit by getting a heavily built pitbull, letting it harrass wildlife, and not taking an injured pet to a veterinarian!
😂
@@crustaceanking3293Why even take that chance? 😳😬🤔😆
@@lucykelly7152Hey, I think you accidentally clicked on this comment to reply to instead of the one below it about the dog supposedly not being in pain. I just wanted to let you know!

@@SacredMilkOG Idk man…
The only animal pictured that didn't give a **** was the Honey Badger. He said "All these quills in my face is a 'badge' of honour!!"
Honey badgers come pissed-off by default, there's no way up from "pure rage" 😂
There are other mustelids that will hunt porcupines as well, the north American marten does it
Those little bastards are pissed off at the world and they make it everyone's problem! 😂
Don't forget the dog😂
Theyre just weapons to use against his next opponent.
babies are called pocupette and that's just precious
Omg are they really...? That is too freaking cute lol 🥰
and baby puffins are called pufflings!
I want a porcupette ❤
Little sidenote: it's only the South African procupines that have the barbs. North African ones have smooth quills.
All the African porcupines have smooth quils. The Amerikan porcupines have barbed quils.
@@CEO_of_Unpopular_Opinionswrong... only Antarctican porcupine have smooth quills rest others have none
@1MinuteAnimals -- please come to the rescue!! 😵 Which statement(s) is true?? 😂
@@milan53057I don't know...that jaguar appears to be in pain and is bleeding...indicating he'd been trying to get them out. 😢 The largest cat in North America is the cougar (mountain lion). Jags are native to Africa, and some other areas.
@@barbarahill9176 jaguars dont have tumbs so it cant pull out the quills. And the quills being smooth does not mean that they fall out. If you stab yourself with a needle it will stick in your body.
They also make the most adorable little squeaky noises you've ever heard in your entire life.
One of my fave videos showcasing this is of a cute porcupine named Teddy Bear just nomming on a mini pumpkin, talking the whole time.
At one point, his caretaker asks him
"can you say pumpkin?" and he replies with the sweetest little squeaks that almost sound like he really tried to say "pumpkin", it's so cute! 😊
I'm going to look for that right now! Thanks.
Only as babies, when they rustle under your cabin at night is sound like nails on a chalkboard horror film stuff
Infinite blessings to you and your entire family for this comment. That was the cutest video I've ever seen in my life 😭
Whoever sacrifice their finger to demonstrate how the quills stick in the skin wasn't paid enough money.
Porcupines are equipped with......the cutest little faces!
Omfg getting those quills out sounds like a nightmare
If you cut the end off where the quill would've shot out of, you can remove it easier because the barbs retract.
STOP cussing in GODS name u perv 😤
Don't believe the hype! They're harmless.
It's not bad, just painful, but that's the smooth quills, which are the only ones I've seen, not those babrebbed ones, which are on different porcupine
@@SkullydudePercydude, porcupines don't shoot theor quills, neither species, that's a myth from cartoons or somewhere

Baba Yaga's animal companion, the Booboo Wahwah
Damn that was one determined leopard!
Thats the cutest pin cushion ever. 😂
Porcupines are so nice, they care so much about your safety that if they feel like they just transfer some of their pines to you giving you a well defended porcupine structure for your defence 😊
They're really good climbers. I was on a hike and saw one practically sprint up a tree trunk.
They are so incredibly CUTE, but I would seriously think twice about going ANYWHERE near one (except behind glass at the zoo)!
I've walked alongside wild ones on several occasions here in Wyoming, and never got a warning. As long as you don't act in a threatening manner, they are quite relaxed. They are also slow, so even if you caught one on a bad day, they are easy to outrun.
@@noahmercy-mann4323 Thank you. That's really good to know! 👍👍
The poor pitbull. I hope that good boy makes a full recovery
It probably did something to provoke or attacked the porcupine.
@@iBeatBoxz8 does that mean he doesn't deserve to recover? No. He's someone pet so I hope he fully recovered
@@mattiismouse1086Recovered and mauled a toddler
@@mattiismouse1086I agree. He already faced the consequences of his actions and he was only following his instincts.
Sometimes you see these animals with porcupine battle damage, and some you understand. But others youre just like "Why was that moose messing with that porcupine?"
The best thing about porcupines is the cute way they eat. ❤
When your dog gets quills in his face, you have to cut off the ends of the quills. Wait about an hour, and this will allow the quills to shrink a little bit and you can pull the quills straight out. I promise this works.
The only good thing is that their quills are naturally antiseptic so the porcupines don't die of infection if they accidentally poke themselves which happens occasionally
Even so, they're adorable
Porcupine :can't touch me
The fact that porcupines know how to position themselves and utilize their weaponry is amazing.
Not really, unless you think animals are literally braindead as a standard
@@somerandomperson6511 if that's your takeaway from the comment, it is what it is.
No different than animals knowing how to use their hands and feet
Pibbles be like "this is fine".
Y'know, I kinda thought they looked more like hedgehogs
The baby munching away the pumpkin is so cute. The last clip is educational. So all in it's a wholesome video 🦔
Don’t forget to mention that these quills also prevent blood clotting, if you pull them out recklessly you will bleed a lot
I wonder if this is why the leopard is so bloody😢
@@pyritepirate4835 Sadly that's the case. It happens in nature when felines attack them. Some even die as a result

İts a pitbul so it probably deserved it
@@ozanozenir2503yh it probably attacked it for no reason and somehow he still looks happy and has his tongue out
Nah, the dog definitely deserved it, it obviously tried to eat it
Man y'all sure know the entire backstory of this dog from a four second clip. Dog could've been doing anything prior to getting hit with those quills. Could've been trying to play with it. Could've been caught off guard while moving about the brush or forest. Owner could've provoked the attack for "clout". This could be an unfortunate circumstance used for educational purposes about keeping your dogs inside. The list goes on.
@@Mdksupreme1the Pit problaby would have juat killed the purcupine, and left the body to rot. Like they do cats and squirrels.
