    E-ink users exist on a spectrum from people looking for a distraction-free experience (ie; reMarkable), to those looking for a full-on Android laptop substitute like the Tab series. As you move along that spectrum, there are compromises on both sides, from an authentic paperlike feel and long battery life at one end, to faster performance and less ghosting at the other. Boox’ current lineup runs Go/Note/Tab, from simplest to most powerful. There’s no point in complaining that the Note isn’t as computerlike as the Tab- it was specifically designed to occupy that middle slot in the lineup. For every person who dislikes this series, there’s someone else who finds it the perfect fit.

      I totally agree, and these are just my opinions. I'm not telling anyone else not to like it. Just not for me.
      Now, I will give some pushback on how their current lineup exists on the OS side. The Note OS, if it's trying to be simpler, isn't cutting it. It's just as complex, just with some puzzling changes. Reorganizing your options, and omitting others, which is what they've done here, isn't making it simpler. They've effectively made the OS less functional without adding the component that simplicity is supposed to offer... Approachability. The Note OS isn't any more "approachable" than the Tab OS just less functional. Also, just my opinion.
      Thanks for the comment.
      P.S. To me the Go OS is a better-designed Note OS.

    Nothing wrong with an honest review my friend. I enjoyed this review a lot, super genuine. My mom used to say the same thing BTW, which is why it was hard to do my Good E-Reader review.

    I had the Note 3c. Gave it away, I missed my RM2 which I sold to get the 3c.
    Now I have the go 10,3 and its great :) The RM2 design feel with playstore, onedrive export and office 365 for work ✅

      You said it brother, the 10.3 is great... unlike the NA3C unfortunately. and I got at least two more videos to do before I'm done with it to sell, lol. Enjoy ya 10.3!

    You’re creating a seriously great channel. It’s refreshing to see someone acting like an adult, who treats his audience like adults. Even down to three original and classy background music.

    I like that the Go 10.3 which you've already given rave reviews is sitting right next to it 😅 ETA: NOT THE SYRACUSE PLUG, LOL ETA2: also deeply appreciate that we're apparently on the same page about how the Tab Mini C's experience on Boox is basically the right way to do just about everything.

    With regards to the lack of a Home Screen and apps bar, one of my customizations to address that is having the NaviBall open specific apps, and having it minimize after the shortest amount of time setting

      @@rantsabouttechnology any time! Glad to be of help. And thanks for the content. I agree that Boox software does have a lot of friction in its UI/UX and even when you customize all the little settings that work best for you, the experience can still be a bit janky

    Roderick, you know I love your videos, and I loved this one as well, but I disagree with you on many points! :) I LOVE the orange contrasting color on the device. They may have gotten the idea from Apple with the Apple Watch Ultra colors LOL, but I get tired of the same old thing all the time with black, gray, and white. Dark gray and orange are great colors together. So I love the orange logo on the front and the stripe on the back is to allow wireless signals to pass. With an all-metal body, bluetooth and wifi wouldn't be able to connect without a break in the aluminum. As for the Note OS, it's simple for a reason. I don't want a "tablet." I want a note taker and the Note (and Go) line fits that perfectly. I don't want widgets, I don't want an app bar. I just want something I can pick up and use to take notes or read something. If you want that, that's what the Tab line is for and the Tab Ultra C will give you that and color. The Tab line is called the Tablet PC for a reason. The Note line (and now even more the GO line) were meant to steal people from the Remarkable. Those folks were looking for something simple. Pick it up, take notes or read. And the Note OS is easy to use with few options but that's by design. That's why Boox is a great company. They have something for everyone. You want B&W. Check. You want BSR. Check. You want color. Check. You want simple. Check. You want thin. Check. You want versatility. Check. You want a tablet replacement. Check. People knock Boox for all of their devices but their strategy is working.

    • @rantsabouttechnology
      @rantsabouttechnology  3 месяца назад +1

      Yea, lol. People have been correcting me for not knowing about the antennae array. I mean, I knew it was for that purpose, I just dismissed it because it doesn't have cellular service, lol. Getting killed for that one😂
      I agree and can't deny that their "A device for everyone" is working. I was talking to another creator about this the other day. We were talking about how people think there's a Boox bias because alot of us talk about Boox alot, and that's because they have so many devices, and most other manufacturers have two, at best.
      I get that The Note is simple on purpose, but if thats the route they are going, they only half achieved that, as there really is no "simple" Boox UI, just fully featured, and less fully featured. It isn't any more approachable than any other device they make. I guess I'll just concede that the Note OS just isn't for me, and I can only speak for myself. I'll be selling the Note Air 3C when I've done the review, and I'll be picking up the Tab Ultra C Pro... No keyboard though >.<
      I always welcome criticism and opinions that differ from my own, it's how I learn new stuff. Especially from you my guy!
      Thx for the comment as always!
      Oh and Okay, Okay, about the Orange. Getting killed for that too lol. It's a great color man, no complaints here... Go Orangemen!!! >.

    Re: The deep olive back and front left...You DO see them on at least one other Boox product along with the orange. I see this on my Boox Note Air 2 Plus, though the orange is more subdued. The original Note Air 2 has blue metal with orange front and back, including orange lettering on the pen. Design language. (Unboxing videos are our research friends.) 😉

      I haven't seen much of the older devices, so thats good to know. Maybe they're moving away from those bold colors, as none of their latest ones have that. I hope so!

    🙋‍♂Hey Roderick! Just to let you know, you can't write on the back of the NA3C...just putting it out there🤪. Once in the case, I don't see the rest of the "Hate"😂. BTW, that saying from Mama refers to people, not objects or any Boox device with orange color on it 😂. I do wish Boox would unify all the UI's to one standard one. Kudos, brother from NYC🗽. I feel the Heat.

    Hello Mr. Rant 😁..
    I understand that the ceramic nibs would scratch that screen, so you could end up with an ugly surface pretty soon.

    • @rantsabouttechnology
      @rantsabouttechnology  3 месяца назад +2

      Hello 👋🏿 That's a common misconception. I've been using this nib for months on multiple devices, and not a scratch yet. There are some people who prefer Titanium (way harder than ceramic) for these devices, and still no issues. Experiment, you may find that you like a harder nib as well :)
      Thanks for stopping by!

    This is a very poor review filled with personal opinions and not what is generally accepted. He does not understand that this is an ereader, not a tablet. Great flaw... and as such, everything else he has said is worthless. I own a tablet, and this ereader. the ereader, offers me distraction free use compared to my tablet. My God, him talking about color, widget, battery percentage, and setting was just him looking for content. This is a very poor review.
