Pinned Post for Q&A
How do you see the war concluding if Section 31 either didn't exist or were noninvolved?
SO what's next after?
So, 2 main questions:
1) What are some of the Breen ships that we see at the end? They look like different variants of the main Breen cruiser and not unlike some that you showed off before.
2) Why did you have it as a small portion of the Klingon fleet escape with survivors instead of just the one Bird of Prey like it was in the original episode?
A breakdown on the breen energy weapons?
For me, the breen energy weapon is a way to increase the stakes for show. being overpowered to disabled any ship with one shot follow by "exus ex machina" of the Klingon ships developed an immunity so the Dominion can't just steam roll the allies, creating more drama with the klingon doing 1 to 20. I figure the Federation and Romulans fleets were fighting Dominion while klingon held off to solely target the breen, like you mentioned in the previous monthly video, until the Cardassins rebel raid to steal the weapon for research.
If I was to often a solution to breen energy weapon from being overpower, that weapon requires mulpite shots to sap away starship power until render unless, or weapon only affect to one fraction ships at a time, one group Breen ship have enegry damper target Federation, another for Romulans and Klingon, which the Allies would combine their fleets to counter any breen. So if a breen weapon just counter federation while facing all three allies fractions ship, the tactics be the other two fraction can protect the federation and counter breen. So on and so forth. Force the Dominion to act cautiously to avoid losing too many breen ships in combat. What I offer is Breen weapon is still a devastating weapon, but there are practical solutions to slow the Dominion until they can develop an immunity.
The tv show never when too deep to explain the logistics and need content of war as you have done, so that where my rant come from.
Is it fair to say the Breen were one trick ponies? Their energy dampening weapon was essentially their only means of superiority and when it was undone left them just as vulnerable as the Jem'Hadar and Cardassians?
4:30 HOLY SHIT THE EXTENDED MAP I MADE-
I am so honored to have it used in an official Battlespace episode! Thank you so much, if there's any modifications you need down the line just let me know!
Congrats to you😁!
Thanks for your efforts.
Your map is amazing!
To quote a very good game "Hell, it's about time".
crossover when?
@@BroockleDon't know, but Venom and many other people can write poetry.
Were the Cardassians trained by German General Lettow-Vorbeck? His WWI East Africa Campaign was nothing short of brilliant. His 4000, mostly African Askari troops, held off *250,000 Allied soldiers* for 4+ years. On the last day of WWI von Lettow-Vorbeck was advancing!
I love the new style! Less play-by-play tactics and more documentary-style strategy. Fantastic!
I am still honored to see "my" ships and pictures in your videos despite them being really old.
Your work are a real, real inspiration to start rebuilding and expanding the cardassian fleet and redoing the ships.
Just goes to show how well your renders stand the test of time. But I will make sure to start filtering in your new models too. Especially the newer ships
@venomgeekmedia9886 Honored to hear. I have assembled a small team at DeviantArt to also create some character scenes again, so stay tuned and thank you so much for being such an inspiration 💜

Chin'toka was indeed quite the brutal campaign. Enjoyable to see the visual presentation of the various battle lines, in particular the neat details of the maps. And good work on the part of the voice actors.
Incredible job, Venom. You've managed to make sense of a complicated series of events, adding a table spoon of suspense for good measure. My thoughts are with the groundskeeper on Chintoka III - all those Cardies and Klingons must have made a shocking mess of his greens and fairways. I picture him as a Boothby-type, vainly shaking his fists at the photon grenades as they fly over the 18th fairway. But enough of my daydreaming... Splendid work. And in all seriousness, it is deeply valued 🖖
Didn't know cardassians played golf
Once again, Harper Steele shows off his incredible versatility on his voice acting talents with a new character added to his resume
I really enjoyed the focus on logistics and ship salvage. Those are two of the most important things during a war, but they don’t often get the attention they deserve. It reminded me of Drachinifel’s excellent series on the salvage at Pearl Harbor.
Awesome episode 😀
For more ideas, one of my favorite episodes is still the "First Contact... From The Vulcan Perspective"
You mentioned Earth had early dealings with Kzinti pirating earth transporters. Just a dive on the Kzinti and their relationship to the early federation races would make a cool vid I think.
Wonderful work , script, narration, voice acting, and art , as usual I will need to watch a few times to fully appreciate.
"I learned it meant to rout. The Athena was a good ship she had seen us throughout so much. For a first ship out of the Academy. She felt like she could take on anything. We learned how our home was...as the Breen disabled with a single shot and forced us to leave her. We had no choice but to abandon her. Hours we spent in escape pods, praying we would be picked up by friendlies. God...that had to be the longest 36 hours of my life."

USS Athena
Hearing about the refineries made me think of a certain group of marines - "Listen. Uh, we can't have any firing in there. I want you to collect magazines from everyone." "What are we supposed to use - harsh language?"
Nicely done episode!
Yeah, but they were fight the Dominion not the Gorn so it should have been okay.
I survived Wolf 359 or at least my torso and lower body did. Task force ghost watched it all over again. Even on functional starships any veteran of 359 was stunned. We watched it all over again. Unfortunately for the dominion task force ghost resolved on that day that we would seek our vengeance, one enemy ship at a time. And we would chase them to the gates of hell and even Klingon hell if need be. Those who were broken by this fight needed to find the fire again. I addressed them at deep space 9. After seeing my horrific injuries from wolf 359 and me telling them why I did this to myself some found a desire not to run but a drive to seek vengeance. ( guess my time with the Klingons rubbed off ). The Klingons refer to me in English as “ He who was returned from Sto,vo,kor “ I can’t pronounce it in our language. I respect that and our officers and survivors respect an officer who went to hell and came back to do it all over again. I’m just a solider really but I’m a tough one who’s been beaten to nothing only to put myself back together and do it again. I’m sure the shrinks would have a field day with me. But there’s a war to win and an enemy to be defeated. No mercy, Adm Matthew Caughey: Survivor wolf 359: Survivor Chin,Toka: 4x purple heats wolf 359: multiple awards for bravery, gallantry, and courage. Starfleet note Adm Caughey was among the most decorated survivors of the dominion war and was one of the few officers who started the war and made it to the end.
Your torso and lower body are all that survived? So your head is gone? Not sure how you were addressing the troops, missing a head and all. That is pretty tough.
You are the best sci-fi battlefield/strategic documentarian on RUclips right now, you should be absolutely proud. I hope at some point you will branch off and consider other franchises like Babylon 5 and the Expanse
Great episode but that closing, perfection.
That's all down to the wonderful actress
The battle with the Breen’s energy dampener weapon has to be the biggest screw up the Dominion made during the war.
The fact that they let the specific ship that was immune to it get away allowed the entire Klingon fleet to be made immune.
And then they just let the crews go home to “spread terror”. Honestly *no one* making it back would have been a far greater terror inducer and allowed them to get more out of the weapon due to there being no witnesses to what it was/did
And then there’s blowing up the disabled ships instead of capturing them. They could have picked them apart for strategic and tactical information and gotten a huge boost in their war effort.
I like the video because it shows the Dominion didn’t get the victory they wanted. The Breen were stunned by their weapon not working and went off plan. The Vorta were scrambling to handle the internal divisions. Keeping their fleet together in a defensive position would have been the right move if the Klingons had in fact been able to shrug off the dampener. As it turned out only one ship was immune but Breen skittishness and Vorta caution turned what was supposed to be a massacre into a mere defeat.
Chin'toka; the Flanders (Fields) of the Dominion War
Your videos were always good, but in terms of polish and finish now you've established yourself as a top of the line content creator. The script was well written it really nailed that docudrama style you'd see in the high end BBC productions back in the day. It flowed right, it gave detail where it was needed, it was concise where necessary, it used the right words for evoking imagery and emotion and avoided reputative use of words and phrases. Your narration was excellent it was confident, it flowed well with a steady rhythm and good use of cadence, punctuation and inflection in the delivery. And of course the music was on point matching the scenes appropriately.
"We been through hell, and we call it Chin'toka."
I wonder if trench Warfare did made a return in that battle? If only we got a Battle of Verdun and the Battle of the Sommes equivalent for the Dominion War.
Check the battles of tyra and arcadia
@@venomgeekmedia9886 is there also any inspiration from the Gallipoli and Dardanelles Campaigns?
Bloody hell, this is quality content
Exciting video! Thank you for allowing me to relive this episode but in more detail! 👍
Finally someone tried to create a canon to explain the Breen Energy Dampening Weapon.
Well done worth the wait. I’ll have to watch a second time to get more of the details!
Fantastic as always
Excellent episode! Nicely done.
Since I found your channel I've see nothing but improvements each video getting better and better I look forward to seeing more
A bit late, but I just wanted to say I love the cleaner audio, calmer tone and smooth script! Looking forward to more documentary-style videos!
AWESOME! Very well done!
I love the in depth videos it's shows u alot more information then u usually get from most videos from other channels 😊
Well done! What a fantastic and in depth story! 🎉
Man that was great.
Looks badass!!!
Chin'toka is the battle where allies had the tool to win but lack the corporate to work with each other strength and cover weakness compare to Dominion taking charge of everything and using resources to it max.
Much like WW1 trench warfare, both side had the means to take the first trench, it what follows where it gets bloody with neither side knowing how to hold gains or cut your losses until military tactics switch to archive objectives instead of holding ground.
Great Episode Venom! Thanks for all your hard work! Patiently waiting for the next one…. well, maybe not so patiently. 😅
Glad you enjoyed it
Fantastic job! Keep up the great work :)
Great video!!
Fantastic story-telling! More please.
You did a vary good job on this one
This is the best battle space videos you have done
Awesome...please keep up the good work 😀
This is amazing
I like to thing that the Romulan White Leigon is a more conventional compared to most Romulan legions considering how we see how many smaller ships
The defense turrets (aka Orbital Weapon platforms) look Cardassian in design but they didn't have that powerful tech before they joined the Dominion. Do you think the Dominion enhanced their tech to make this possible?
Excellent
AMAZING! That was such an impressive President!
Excellent 👍 I really love the battle space videos
This whole battle could have made for a full season of DS9.
Bravo splendid 👏
Very good .
Feels like it's been a long time waiting for this
Magnificent
I just see Sisko reading all the names.
Hell of a good job! Seriously I was wholly and totally enthralled!
Great informative and incredibly detailed video on the Somme of the domination war, that is the prolonged Chintoka campaign, a bloody battle of attrition, that ended in the Federation alliance after all the manpower and ships they had loss taking and holding the system and its respective planets, wiped out in a space of a few hours, in a devastating counterattack. That rendered all of their efforts pointless in the long run and gave the dominion a crucial breathing space to recover and fortified its territory, once the Federation overcame the breen secret weapon.
that was AWESOME
This might be the best
Do you need a large ship to tow a equally large ship? We saw the runabout Rio Grande tow Dukat’s much larger Cardassian Galor-class in “Emissary”.
We saw a smaller 'tug' in an opening episode of a season of DS9 (the episode after the Dominion take over DS9) towing a severely damaged excelsior class.
It's the battle that never ends.
Ah. I guess sending someone to the ChinToka front could now be a threat.
7:42
Wait, is that Tali from Mass Effect? I had no idea she was at the battle. Or how she travelled between franchises. Then again, she's a tech wizard, so hey...
Wow. You are great at putting good drama into your work, man.
Good job explaining the Breen, energy dampening weapon.
This video 9🖖 out of 10🖖
what would get me 10 ;)
@@venomgeekmedia9886 Accurate tactical map symbology ;>
@venomgeekmedia9886 I'm sorry, but what you ask is impossible. I've learned that when people give a ranking in numbers, stars, or whatever they use.
Giving a perfect score is impossible because that would be a perfect score, and there is no such thing as a perfect score.
Damn this was good.
I didn't know that chintoka encompassed the siege of AR-558. That was probably my favorite arc of the war and subsequent arc of Nog recovering from his wounds earned at the battle and suffering from depression
Yeah. Part of the point of this episode is drawing all those threads together in a bigger picture
@@venomgeekmedia9886 fantastic job, I love your battle maps
great job venom I'm proud of you 😊
Chin'toka was a severe bloodfest battle.
Been waiting with anticipation venom
BRAVO!!! AUTHOR!!! AUTHOR!!!
Sweet. Notification set
USS Galaxy looked to be on it's own power by the end of the initial battle.
Always been a fan of the spoonheads. Durable mining stations and near indestructible orbital weapons platforms, tough as nails warships. And of course, tough as nails warriors. Eat your hearts out, Sons of Kahless😂
ok, so i predict in the next exciting episode of this great series will feature the best unit in the entire war: the starfleet corps of engineers, doing what they do best! another great video!
and by the way, judging romulan strategies and ship designs, i don't see them being a true threat to the federation, even without the klingon alliance. their smaller ships are to reliant on warbirds; they don't have good logistics at all, when it comes to resupply, reinforcements or evacuations, or salvage abilities and are far too dependent on cloaking technology. they may get off a good first blow but the infrastructure of starfleet is just too large and can survive those blows better than the romulans could, especially in a protracted war
"We've been through hell before. Of course, many called it «Chin'Toka»
Entire fleets lost. We lost the 12th Fleet and the White Legion. Our men and women on the ground, lost. Earth, in ruins.
The price of a mile is paid in lives, and yet we push on, for the sake of freedom, and our nation, the Federation that we call home.
I still remember the words I said that day:
«Icarus squadron, go for takeoff... For the honour of our country.»
Those words still haunts me."
-Sharon McKellen-Edward (Recounts from the front line, a story of the Dominion War, retied Starfleet fighter pilot, Interview conducted 2409)
Nice video as always! But looking at the loss numbers in terms of soldiers killed and wounded. That almost looks like childs play compared to the losses in present day conflicts on Earth. Especially when you consider the number of troops used you mentioned.
How did the Breen get stopped at Earth? The Breen had an energy dampening weapon. They should have completed wiped out Earth defenses since Starfleet had no defense against it.
Because they didn't use it at earth... they were saving it.
How did the Breen catch Starfleet completely off guard on the attack on earth. And also if that was the 1st major engagement with the Breen how did they take the alliesby surprise with their weapons system? Shouldn't they have received a warning or something from Earth?
If the Breen had used a bioweapon on Earth and wiped out its population, Would the Federation have surrendered?
If we assume the rest of the events didn't get radically altered by that, I believe the Alliance would have still won the war, but there would be a great astropolitical fallout for the Federation after that
Venom do you think in the future you might do the penultimate battle of the war when the cardassian fleet joined the allies and the breen attack on earth?
What is star fleet mechanised land units?
What's the music clip at 9:00 from?
Well … there should be one battle left,
And we know where it’ll be, Cardassia, Lead by the Hood & the Defiant-II (Defiant NCC-75633).
Amazing breakdown, let’s see how this plays out, shall we?
To continue our conversation from last time the episode states that the NX-01 was hit at 2% of the verteron array's total output and that it would have vaporized them at 100%.
The background music is from the original Dune soundtrack.

Set course, Venom geek media warp 6!
Premier ls in 41 hours gang can't wait for it to drop in almost 2 days
On the pop up sight on siskos phaser rifle.... is that... a CAR..???
The opening is somewhat like Eisenhower's Order of the Day for D-Day:
"SUPREME HEADQUARTERS
ALLIED EXPEDITIONARY FORCE
Soldiers, Sailors, and Airmen of the Allied Expeditionary Force!
You are about to embark upon the Great Crusade, toward which we have striven these many months. The eyes of the world are upon you. The hope and prayers of liberty-loving people everywhere march with you. In company with our brave Allies and brothers-in-arms on other Fronts, you will bring about the destruction of the German war machine, the elimination of Nazi tyranny over the oppressed peoples of Europe, and security for ourselves in a free world.
Your task will not be an easy one. Your enemy is well trained, well equipped and battle-hardened. He will fight savagely.
But this is the year 1944! Much has happened since the Nazi triumphs of 1940-41. The United Nations have inflicted upon the Germans great defeats, in open battle, man-to-man. Our air offensive has seriously reduced their strength in the air and their capacity to wage war on the ground. Our Home Fronts have given us an overwhelming superiority in weapons and munitions of war, and placed at our disposal great reserves of trained fighting men. The tide has turned! The free men of the world are marching together to Victory!
I have full confidence in your courage, devotion to duty and skill in battle. We will accept nothing less than full Victory!
Good luck! And let us beseech the blessing of Almighty God upon this great and noble undertaking."
As terrible as it was, the Breen attack on earth was much more of a detriment to the dominion than a benefit. By putting the opposition to the war under fire, they demonstrated how deadly it was to the more passive Klingons and Romulans and united the anti war party against them. It would be like the Japanese aircraft submarine attack hitting Washington in 1944, the attack wouldn't hurt the Americans in the long term, just make them more angry.
Where can I find the maps?
Join at the centurion teir and above to get access
Interesting. Given the length of time of the battles and the level of combat, attrition was pretty low compared to modern warfare. I'd guess with both sides total probably have committing up to a million troops or so by the end of the campaign, they had minimal losses.

>.< the pictures of the spaceships look so much better than what you saw in the current *cough* Star Trek series. Or to put it better, it seemed more organic back then and not so CGI only fanservice. Sure, the D looked great in Picard, but what you saw (story-wise) was total nonsense.
