I think its good that Richard talks about the mental side of war because most of these videos just talk about tactics but Richard gives us a better understanding about the after effects of war
I've seen how less traumatic events can mess people up real bad. I did my PhD in Chemistry and would guess that 3/4 of the PhD students developped mental problems! Those were burn out, depression, sleep problems, and quite prominently substance abuse due to the stress and lack of sleep. It was a very hostile work environment and two of my colleagues nearly died because someone cheaped out on some clamps worth at best a few Euros (and put a fridge in front of the emergency exit and stuff like that) and while they struggled for their lives in the ER, it was back to business as usual for all others, except that someone broke the police seal to loot valuable chemicals... The worst thing you can do to people under such stress is make it abundantly clear that you don't give a F about their problems, health and safety and just tell them that they should man up and work harder... But that's what keeps happening and speaking about mental health is still quite a taboo...

The role that men and women like Richard play in combat is one of the most important in my opinion. Snipers can tip the balance of a battle or even an entire war with a single bullet. Mad respect to you Richard.
Had a crackshot of a friend one time with a sniper during a CTF game, he shifted the whole tide of battle to where we could get the flag, stop the enemy from flanking, and we're able to defend the position until the flag was secure, he was probably the most important man that day.
I agree, but without the people in the frontlines snipers would be useless. Though without snipers wars couldnt be shifted to one side as easily. I think they go hand and hand.
Even more important is that it prevents one. Sure taking out a target from long range can prevent harm to the infantry from them having to go in close is great but even that additional threat factor from long range that enemies have to consider makes them far less likely to engage. It allows infantry to maneuver much more efficiently.

That message really hits home here. Forcibly retired just shy of 20 years.... wounded in combat while in southeast Asia working for an NGO. Lost my leg, a few organs, and my livelihood (got the leg coming back though... thank God for prosthetics). At this point I can barely look at myself in the mirror. I don't recognize myself... I keep expecting to still see the handsome Captain America badass I used to be, not the big ball of scars and nightmares I am now. Hardest part for me isn't the people I killed... it's the ones I couldn't save. I see them constantly, too the point that when I'm alone I sometimes talk to them... but they never answer. Dead people tell no tales, I guess. I spent the last 7 years of my career trying to save people from war, not just going out to fight someone else's dirty fights. Yes, I'm extremely disillusioned with the bullshit our governments have us do... we joined to serve our country and protect our loved ones, not fight wars for the special interests of a few old men at the top. A lot of days I find myself wishing the bad guys were better shots. I honestly feel (sometimes) that I should've simply stayed dead... out there. What I'm going through right now? I'd barely call this life. But I'm still here, so... I guess I still got shit to do, huh? Let's get this over with so I can get the reward I fucking earned... peace at least, in a fucking box.

I was digging the fact that they used the PA ACSS reticles in this game, and Richard was great to watch, as always. He brings experiened, but positive criticisms. He never becomes condescending. Good work, guys.
The fact that he actually understands it's a game is amazing love this man please keep doing more vids with him
I have been living in poverty with chronic hip pain for a couple years now and very little support. Life has been absolutely depressing and I have found it difficult to find a reason to push forward.
I didn't expect to find some major perspective here, but I'm glad I did. I'm genuinely super glad you're doing better to be talking to us on these videos. If you and many others can make it through your tours and live life with all the problems that come with it, I can find my way here.
Thank you for your service and your time here. Much love my friend!

That's a .338 Lapua in an AR-15 type platform
Yeah it’s called the mk18 I forget the company that makes them
@@BigBoss-uf2iu isn’t the MK18 an short barrelled M4

"He missed! That was like me!!" 😂
Richard is my favorite. Seems like one of the realest dudes you could meet. Keep the Richard videos coming 👌 👏
Respect for the real talk, still in, and trying to deal with my time overseas.
While i never served, as a person who suffers daily from PTSD having experienced a lot of conflict and violence - *Thank you for taking a moment to talk about it.* ✌
I just got fired from my job, so I watch some RUclips to take my mind off of it. That motivational speech in the middle made me smile, and tear up. Thank you. You made this day a little easier
What job did u have
whyd you get fired
I appreciated the mental wellness part. Thank you
Very tough situation. I'm thankful you've given the service you got asked to give for the safety of others. I know what's like to be on constant alert, yet i like that, always be ahead one step at a time, to win the marathon with miles of advantage.
Especially these time i'm alert with crazy stuff going on, you don't want to be the victim, eliminate that thought and possibility.
Damn, 11 years of combat experience and this guy is still rocking it, respect to you sir!
this dude is so nice, he could be like the other specialist and talk about the unrealistic parts of the game, but instead he talks about the positive stuff. Great video !
Seems inconsistent with the gameplay choice, sometimes they get really mint gameplay that the experts can relate to, and the next episode they got ppl jumping and running out in the open with a pistol with drum mag and just generally stuff an expert would cringe at. Glad this was a good episode tho
It is their take on certain videogames, just because it isnt realistic or something they can relate to doesnt mean they cant have a take on certain aspects. Jocko willink did a hot take on battleship for example
@@koekiejam18 yeah but some games can be made too look silly and very unrealistic. when in reality when played correctly they are close simulations of real life. So when you want too see an expert react too a simulation of what they do, you don’t want the dude in the simulation too be fucking around lol.
@@ivartheboneless5969 i think that is a very personal opinion. Even the most realistic videogames dont come close to real life. Because in real life you arent sitting behind a screen, we are here for the experts take. not on what you think they cringe about...
@@koekiejam18 yeah I know it’s nothing like real life. Key words: “close simulation”. And yes we obviously want the experts take on the game. but if the game isn’t being played properly, then they won’t be able too have a good take on it. And the game won’t be represented properly. And I don’t know what you mean by “not on what you think they cringe about” because I never said I wanted too see what they cringe about. That doesn’t make sense in the context of our conversation.
@@koekiejam18 and you say we are here for the experts take, well yes of course. But their take isn’t going too be very good if the gameplay is shit. That’s all I’m trying too say but your confusing me.
Much respect for him sharing his struggles with us. Even strong men can feel weak and you guys aren't alone. It's a difficult world we live in. And I offer my ear to anyone who needs someone to talk to.
Damn, this man is extraordinary not just by his experience but the wisdom he had. Massive respect for this man.
2:56 bruh I needed this. I've been giving up on myself and life and this was a welcomed surprise. God bless everyone.
🙏🙏🙏🙏 stay in the fight brother
@@rmaynes8317 thank you very much.
It would be epic if gamology round up all the military guys to play Arma 3 or Tarkov, to see how would they do in the virtual field, just saying lmao
Those games have massive learning curves idk if that would be a good idea imo
@@Three3Phase Maybe something like battlefield then. Arcadey enough to pick up easily, but complicated enough that real world tactics still work to an extent.
Appreciate that service Richard... The video youre reacting to is of RUclipsr Operator Drewski. Hes from Texas
Gamers vs (ex)military - sounds fun
i‘m sure Drewski would like to get them in and teach them
Props for reminding us all of the traumas of war. Not only how it makes you a better soldier but a real person afterwards. If you're reading this and need relief, don't be ashamed to seek help and refuge. There are people out here that love, care and appreciate you deeply. You're not alone. Reach out, we've got an ear and a hand to lend.
pretty sure the rifle drewski is using here is the .338 lapua magnum rifle in the game, just based on the sound of it when he fires
I think its an RSSAS
its the sword international MK18 338 lapua semi auto rifle
@@criminal_6877 not an rssas

I am not certain if Richard was aware about what the specific Sniper Rifle used in this Escape from Tarkov video is, because that Sniper Rifle used is the SWORD International Mark 18 Mjolnir Sniper Rifle chambered in .338 Lapua.
Rich! Glad to have you back man!
Respect Richard, not many can confront their demons and have the strength to share. Thanks for all your service and glad you came home!
I would like to see Richard and Cam or Richard and Israel do a game play breakdown.
Been saying this. I would like to see how him (sniper) and the SOF guys would breakdown a combat scenario from their training and perspectives and see the differences as well as the things that make them alike. It'd make for a great video
I wasn’t expecting such a pep talk but I’m really glad he talked about it. Thank you.
Top tier speech 10/10
Thank you for your service Richard, truly 🙏🏼🇺🇲
The weapon is the Mk.18 Mjolnir Lapua Magnum and the scope is the Valday PS-320 ingame
Shoudlve got a Vudu on that Mk. 18.
Richard's a great host, love his insight, love that he understands that games are primarily entertainment, love that he's not putting on bravado and talks about the effect it has on your mental health. Could watch a hundred of these
Mr. Myers thank you for your speech, recently my GF left me (June the 3rd) and both my parents are in the hospital due to COVID, dads getting better, might be home tomorrow or on Saturday, but mom is still in ICU with a ventilator, these past few days have felt like hell, my friends are helping, but the pain about her is not going away, I still love her. Your speech is helping me not give up, I’m a Venezuelan living in Colombia, long story, but I want to thank you for your service sir
Came to see the reaction, stayed cause of the realtalk. Thanks for sharing, was really touching. Have a good one!
amazing combat class we had here, thks man, this type of teaching is not easily found in my country, Brazil, even though I am a police officer.
I'm sorry to hear that man I hope everything works for out you bro
This guy watching tarkov Sniping is like adding Petro to fire... 🔥❤
thanks for your service! also its nice to see what a real professional thinks about some game play. it would nice to watch you commentary or coach someone through a game.
Who agreed that Gameology is a really interesting channel to watch.
Amazing video how he discussed about the mental pain soilders goes through and how he explained all the stuff to get a better Sniper shot
Why did I almost cry when he started talking about ptsd
fckng ninja cutting onions man
Brothers in Arms🤝 i retired after 23 years in Army, 3 times Afghanistan. Thank you 🤝 , appreciate that.
That speech brought some tears to my eyes.
Does words of encouragement were rly felt and needed for me, thank you
He got trough his action times i have to say hes done great job.
Seen a ton of these Gamology videos but that speech was something special. Respects to Richard.
Could we see the marines react to call of duty 4, either the first mission with the ship, or the training course would be interesting
They would probably cringe
Love Tarkov but I’m glad he spoke about mental health and the issues he felt with .. this was a great video Richard is a bad ass
If BSG keeps developing and polishing Tarkov in the way they have been, it's going to be fking incredible when they do the proper release. If anyone here likes what they see, some good names to check out would be OperatorDrewski (the guy playing in the clips), Pestily, DeadlySlob, and Fairtx.
Too bad they have slowly been killing the game.
@@Mad-rg9sz no they haven’t seems like you just don’t like the game or aren’t good at it 🤷🏼♂️

This is the coolest man ever
Richard’s telling me things I need to hear. Thank you.
That personal experience part where he talked about the mental side was really deep. Most of us have no idea what these guys go through while and even after war. Much respect ✊
Love this guy. Came here for some Tarkov sniping with sniper input and left with some good life advice. Thank you.
