Being a woodworker for nearly 50 years, I think you're an inspiration to a younger generation. I appreciate your honesty, leaving your 'mistakes' in the video. Part of the joy of our craft is learning while we build. I remember my early years when all I owned were hand tools. Nice job little Lady!
Thank you so much! That’s so kind of you to say. You are definitely right…the best part of woodworking is learning something new with every project…even if the lesson comes from a screw up. I appreciate you watching my video!
The fact that you didn't edit out the mishap with the measurements is good. I honestly like the door as is as well. But most importantly I think it's pretty cool that you can make things like you do. You're so talented.
As usual, I love the black and natural wood tone. I vote leave it as is. A similar project is on my to do list for our laundry room. Very clean and functional! I would give it more likes if I could.
This door is fantastic. It completely changes the look of that area of your home and I'm sure that the practicality of a sliding vs a swinging door is going to be a constant plus for you as you come and go through the front door and the laundry room door. You did an excellent job on this build. Thanks for sharing this video with us.
Thank you so much! It’s definitely a lot less annoying walking through this doorway to put clothes in the washer every day 😂 I like that it’s a “focal point” in here now and can’t wait to build out the rest of the space over time. Thanks so much for watching. I really appreciate it!
Awesome looking door, I put up a barn door for someone and had a terrible time installing it! Whoever put the header in the opening to the house forgot a few studs, I did not like using wall anchors, but had no choice, after that, I'll make the door for people but sure will not install one ever again. Well unless it's my own door. Great job!!
I agree - hate doors too! First thing I did when I moved in was remove all the doors. Had to put them back when my parents came to visit, but aside from the one bathroom door which isn't [yet] a slider, I took 'em all off the hinges.

@@WoodshopDiaries I don't know why they aren't more common either. I made a wine / coffee cabinet and used the sliding door look too. I never did anything like that, so I was way out of my wheel house but it came out great ... heavy but great
Nooooo don't paint it... It looks amazing!! I love the look & contrast between the lumbers natural tone with the hint of ebony stain 😍♥️. Also, if you have no frosted spray, you could always sand both front and back of the plexiglass. It worked great for when I tried this method. I believe I used 180grit. I wouldn't use a smaller grit. That square dowel "trick" instead of routing the rabbet is great 👌🏻. Love your videos. Keep them coming
Haha I’m glad you agree 😂 I didn’t want to be over dramatic! I’m so glad I don’t have to walk around and through that old door anymore 🙌🤣 it’s the little things

That looks amazing! Part of me wishes I had a spot I could out something like that, part of me is glad my space is open enough I don't need one...lol. I just really, really want to build something like that though!!!
Haha pros and cons 😂 maybe you can incorporate something similar on a smaller scale on a piece of furniture or cabinet somehow instead of a whole door 😉🙌
That looks good! I like the black trim, but it depends on what you do in other places. This putting in glass/acrylic example came at a perfect time for me. I saw a broken door on one of those free libraries we have around town and thought I can fix that! Now I will and can so thank you!

thank you for the video. exactly what I was looking for. I really loved your choice of black stain for wood planks to hold glass in place. in my opinion, it made the door look very nice and kinda expensive. thank you for sharing.
I love it!! Using pine in that area looks great. Natural wood color gives that space warmth. I also really like that simplicity of the door. Maybe you could leave one side natural and paint the other side a color and you could change it up every now and then. 🤷🏼♀️ Great work...as always!

The kit I used is designed for 1 3/8” - 1 3/4” thick door. So if you can find a kit (or make your own) that works for 3/4”, sure. But you can’t use 1/2” dowels or they’ll stick out the front and back when you glue them on
