Nobody played the guitar like Tal Farlow.. I can’t believe how under appreciated he was.

What an incredible guitarist the late lamented and sorely missed Mr Tal Farlow was. Thanks for posting this video. I first heard about him in the late 80s as a young man in my late teens. I was kinda getting into Jazz guitar and trying to discovered who to listen to when I came across his bio in a book of notable guitarists. The great George Benson had made praise worthy quotes about him. To my surprise not long after I learned he was playing in London at a venue East of the city close by where I lived and saw him for the first and only time and he was as I said earlier in my comment INCREDIBLE.

The Octopus! It’s amazing how his hands dwarf that neck. His technique was flawless. He’s playing such fluid lines but his left hand barely seems to move. The best of the best!

TAL FARLOW all over the place - playing outside - then back inside - just when it goes out there - HE comes back in - nobody has HIS mind - the chords - what are they ? - the harmonics - the riffs - scales- all seem to sound difference when TAL FARLOW plays them ! It is a language only HE knows and speaks yet it retains enough logic to stay musical - HOW ? - No one comes near TAL FARLOW !
