Hi bro, i m looking for home use like screwdriver jobs, installing cabinets, hanging frames and also drilling on the walls. This one able to drill on the walls? how about concrete walls?
This drill driver is big and heavy! It's not comfortable for use under ceilings or high up on walls. You want a medium duty machine instead with 60-70 nm which is significantly smaller and lighter. This is me personally: drill drivers suck at drilling into masonry/concrete etc. A rotary hammer is much better! Buying drill drivers with hammer mode might seem practical, but it makes the drill driver heavier and bigger. You want light and compact with the same power.
i have a problem with mine, if i let it unused for 20 min with battery on it its not working anymore, its start to work again only if i reinsert battery or press the battery level button. What could be the problem?
Mate, I think this model is in fact significantly different from the other Bosch you reviewed a while back. Its more than just the metal chuck.. surely. Can you help me decide between this specific drill and other drills on the market in the same duty level? I am in the market for a drill driver combo unit, and near the top of the market its tricky to pick between the brands..
Hey Geoff, to be honest mate you really cant go wrong with any of the majors in the top of the line market. If its Bosch, Milwaukee, Metabo, Makita or Dewalt you wont have any issues, it really comes down to things like, do you have any other tools on the same platform? are there any other tools that you might want to buy in the future on that same platform?
James, thanks, I tend to agree with you. I guess Hitachi falls into that group too, I think I read somewhere that they have recently acquired Metabo, which if that's true could lead to some great tools from them.
Hi there - I own a GSB18VE-2-LI - and think it is a great drill. I am going to buy a GDX18V-ECN soon, but am toying with the idea of Bosch GSB 18 VE-EC, as per your video item. What do you think is a better drill overall GSB18VE-2-LI or the GSB 18 VE-EC as you are reviewing above? My applications is drilling through brick most of the time and the standard screw-driving action. Thanks in advance. Kuldeep
Thanks for the review. But you are wrong in so many ways in this review. First of all the drill you are reviewing here is NOT the same model number or series as the drill you reviewed earlier. The one you reviewed earlier is instead GSB 18 V-EC: ruclips.net/video/IM6QBwOrgRU/видео.html What you are reviewing now is the GSB 18 VE-EC, which is an entirely different heavier duty drill. V-EC and VE-EC are two entirely different drills although the model names are very similar. Bosch has 3 different series of 18 V drill/drivers and hammer drill/drivers divided by size and power: 1) Light Series 2) Allrounder Series [Allrounder Series is the Australian name, the same series is known as Dynamic Series in Europe] 3) Robust Series The GSB 18 V-EC you reviewed before belongs to the Allrounder/Dynamic series. The GSB 18 VE-EC you are reviewing here on the other hand belongs to the Robust series and is a much heavier and more powerful drill with metal gearbox, unlike the Light and Allrounder series. It's true that Bosch recently came out with a new GSB 18 V-EC Allrounder/Dynamic Series brushless drill with metal chuck instead of plastic chuck with the exact same model name as the previous version. But that's not the drill you have in your hands here. It's easy to tell on the silver colored metal gearbox. And a new metal chuck is not the only difference between the old GSB 18 V-EC you review and the new version. There's several of other changes too, like KickBack Control, electronic clutch (the old one only had a mechanical "clicking" clutch), an improved to rubber overmolding grip and a new and more powerful motor [60 Nm vs. 50 Nm previously ans 1900 rpm vs. 1700 rpm previously]. KickBack Control is a new addition to the Allrounder series, previously it has only been available in the Robust series. A few specs for the old and new brushless GSB 18 V-EC vs. the brushless GSB 18 VE-EC: Old GSB 18 V-EC: 50/26 Nm; 1.7 kg; 0-500/1700 rpm; 25,500 bpm; plastic chuck; plastic gearbox: www.bosch-pt.com.au/au/en/cordless-impact-drilldriver-gsb-18-v-ec-131414-06019d7141.html New GSB 18 V-EC: 60/31 Nm; 1.8 kg; 0-600/1900 rpm; 28,500 bpm metal chuck; plastic gearbox: shop.bosch-professional.com/gb/en/product/cordless-combi-gsb-18-v-ec--39076 GSB 18 VE-EC: 75/47 Nm; 2.3 kg; 0-480/2100 rpm; 31,500 bpm; metal chuck; metal gearbox: shop.bosch-professional.com/gb/en/product/cordless-combi-gsb-18-ve-ec--39505 As mentioned the new GSB 18 VE-EC you are reviewing here is not similar to or a replacement for the GSB 18 V-EC you reviewed earlier. Instead it's a replacement for GSB 18 VE-2-LI. GSB 18 VE-2-LI also had a metal chuck although it was polished steel instead of black, so that's an easy way to tell the difference between these two. GSB 18 VE-2-LI was a 4-pole brushed drill, while GSB 18 VE-EC is brushless instead.Electronically commutated motor is another name for Brushless DC electric motor, so all the Bosch models with EC in the name simply means they have a brushless motor. This lead to another error in your review. The "Tool used in this review" Amazon link you provide in the description is neither for GSB 18 V-EC, nor GSB 18 VE-EC, but instead for Bosch HDH181XBL which is the American model name for the old 4-pole brushed GSB 18 VE-2-LI with polished chuck. The Amazon page also says "Date First Available April 8, 2014" which too reveals that it's a previous model. Most of the Bosch links I've posted is for their GB website as these models are not shown at their AU site yet.
Mate you are spot on, i have stuffed this one up big time! Thanks for bringing it to my attention. When i recived this drill i was not given any product information or run down on the tool, i did overlook the model numbers so thats my mistake. Please see link to a quick new video - ruclips.net/video/QgHrc6n2SGY/видео.html Thanks again for pointing it out and going into detail! Take care.
Hey James @ourbuild great review mate, I liked it! A lot of guys in North America want this drill l, another master piece from Bosch. I would like to ask you, how does that handle fell? Good grip as the GDX impact driver? And skinny? Cheers mate, have a great week 😎😎 😎

75 nm is quite low in power compared to the new models from the other major brands. i was hoping bosch would up there game and step up to around 120 nm
Hi .. how is it comparing to gsb 18v- 85-c
Great drill, but the chuck gets jammed and i can't change the bit. Any tips?

@@olgajoachimosmundsen4647 GSR 18v fc2 , good torque and compact size because it has no built in hammer, instead it has 1J sds-plus attachement..

This video sure was drilling to watch :D
James, would you advise people to go brushless where they can afford to? this is the factor that might nudge me to this model.
Hey Geoff, absolutely, the life span of your tool will be lengthened.

If your drilling a lot of brick id suggest going for an SDS hammer model.
If you had to choose between The Bosch and the Metabo SB 18 LTX Bl Quick, wich one would you take?
That's a tough one, they are both good drills, but i do like the Bosch.
Germany tools the best quality, thanks good vídeo.
Is the chuck casing plastic or metal? Thanks.
Metal
