  • Debbie Steinberg Kuntz is a licensed marriage and family therapist and founder of Bright & Quirky. When she started her family counseling practice a decade ago, she had no idea this would be her specialty. But her sons, now teenagers, had some unique strengths and challenges that she dove deeply into understanding.
Debbie learned that they were ‘2e’ or ‘twice exceptional,’ meaning they are smart and also have unique brain wiring that makes accessing those smarts at times challenging. As she researched and found solutions for them, she started to share the learning with families in her private practice near Seattle. You may know that in the Seattle area, they have many highly skilled, uniquely wired people working for nearby high-tech companies (i.e. Amazon, Microsoft). Debbie’s practice includes many such families, eager for information on raising 2e kids.

Always so nice to hear professionals who not only get it, but can articulate it so clearly. I'm glad I stumbled onto this. I like the idea of teaching the kids to be self-scientists. Great interview!
