Every week Nate and Justin come together to talk about mainly Star Wars the Black Series. Reviews, news, rumors, announcements, lists, vlogs, small topics, and more!
#starwarsblackseries #starwars #blackseries #blackseries6inch #hasbro
Fun story, couple weeks ago, there was a totally full and new Toys "r" Us in Mexico city (pretty weird in my opinion). Then, one of the streamers showed the Star Killer 3 pack exclusive from Hasbro and it's ridiculous price was of 220 dollars. So, last week, in Mexico we have The Good End which is similar to Black Friday in the States, and they have the pack in discount for 80 bucks. Not only that, but all those Hasbro exclusives that sometimes you can't get unless you are paying a membership to that company.
Dang what the heck! That is so random. Thanks for sharing! -Justin
@@OutOfTheBasement No problema, amigos!
Photo real is easily the best improvement to come to the Black Series. Turned me from someone who had less than ten figures to now hundreds. I do like that Justin mentioned gummy plastic tho. I picked up a Marvel Legends Morbius recently and was so disappointed in how gummy it was. Nothing like a modern 2023 Black Series figure.
Happy early Thanksgiving guys, even to Tom Walgreens. He needs our support in these trying times.
Yeah the amount of gummy plastic has really been reduced these past few years. Nothing like those old body clone troopers, oof! Happy Thanksgiving to you as well. Prayers for Tom! -Justin
You guys should do a "Wierdest Black Series Experiments" video and talk about the freaky Qui-Gon face, the Y-Joint/sort of drop down hips they did on a few figures in 2019, and any others you can think of which just briefly appeared and then went away
Centerpieces and the Dorito stands 😂 -Justin
Great video! The line really has come a long way since it first came out. face printing was a huge upgrade, sometime even beating out import figures imo. Improved articulation, and lately we've been getting a really nice selection of characters from a bunch of varied media. I couple years ago I never would have thought we'd ever get Darth Malgus, Malak, Bastila, Mara Jade, etc.
Right?!? Never thought we'd get something like a Darth Malgus. It's such a great figure too! -Justin
I love the positivity of this video. The line has come a long way. Great job pointing the improvements.
Glad you liked it! Thanks for watching. -Justin
All of the improvements are great! The continued improvements are why I remain a loyal Black Series collector. Personally, I'm just glad I can find figures in stores and the case assortments have improved. I shop at 7 Walmarts and 1 Target, and I swear all of them took 2020, 2021 and most of 2022 off when it came to Black Series figures-except for General Lando.
Haha definitely agreed! Case assortment has been much more "common sense" lately. General Lando being double-packed has been the last truly awful assortment decision. -Justin
Jeremy gonna hate this video 😂. hasbro has really stepped it up and really i don't see any signs of them slowing down and I feel like every year is the best year to be collecting for the last 4 years now so let's gooo 2024 boutta be crazy.
lol 😂 Yes I agree I genuinely think 2024 will end up being the best year for the line! -Justin
Also Gaming Greats having newly tooled figures
Love that! New Cal, Malgus, Malak, etc. All great! -Justin
Elbow joints, better plastic, photo real, better availability, matte finishes! They are really listening and pumping out some great stuff lately. I 100% agree with vid boyos ! Now we need Walmart exclusives right and we’re on easy street ! Nice watch see has Sunday!
Couldn't agree more! Thanks for checking out the new episode. -Justin
Honestly, its so hard to choose just one thing specifically. The line as a whole as improved drastically just in the last two years. I’m happy with where we’re at and hope to see it continue.
Oh yeah it was tough to narrow it down to around five things. Thanks for watching! -Justin
i love the new boxes for the figures they look amazing
Same! Love the galaxy packaging. -Justin
Photo real the real improvement Black Series has made. Some articulation improvements too. Now we just need accessory improvements
Yeah we need more accessories for sure! -Justin
I think this is unquestionably the best year for black series. I finally got a great ROTJ style Luke, Malgus is my favorite black series ever, Malak, Bastila, Cal, Endor trooper, old master maul, Jedi legend obi wan, Mara jade, new clone, and so much more.
I wholeheartedly agree especially when you consider things that have been revealed/in the pipeline. I think 2024 will be even better! 👍🏻 -Justin
My favorite improvement is definitely mainline Gaming Greats. Absolutely no one asked for Malgus and they just slammed that banger down on the table, dropped the mic, and left the room in classic Hasbro WTF fashion.
Mainline Gaming Greats has been amazing! Gotta love the new sculpts. -Justin
Apart from the Photo Real, which is awesome, the best change by far was the single jointed knees. Finally we can bend the knees more than 15 degrees without the figures looking like they have ridiculous noodle legs! Not yet sure how I feel about the thigh cuts being replaced by swivel hips...
Yeah I also think it yields more natural looking poses. Especially sitting/kneeling. Thanks for watching! -Justin
I'm actually pretty thankful that they didn't give us the starkiller or any of the figures we have now in figure form during the dark ages era 💀 🗿 I'd rather the sequel trilogy take one for the team than get the shitty face scans for any current figures we have. The only thing that's missing is swappable hands for every figures. They did a good job with hasbro pulse exclusive starkiller having swappable hands.
That is 100% true! Same thing with someone like Count Dooku and Mace Windu. Glad they came out when they did instead of before photo-real, before butterfly joints, etc. Thanks for watching! -Justin
My top 3 improvements are availability of the figures, prequel and Clone Wars attention, and photo real. I’d love to see a counterpart to this video where you talk about a few things that maybe have gotten worse or not improved since the line started.
Great picks! Thanks for watching, Sith Lord. I had that idea as well! Main thing? Paint. -Justin
Hands down the photo real faces. Massive leap forward imo.
That is #1 for sure! Thanks for watching, Banzai BoB! Have a great weekend. -Justin
I think you guys nailed all of it. Photo real, butterflys, overlays & pinless are some VERY welcome additions. Another entertaining video. Happy Thanksgiving fellas & cheers! 🍻🤘
Glad you enjoyed it! Happy Thanksgiving! Have a nice weekend. -Justin
So many cool upgrades to our favorite figure line! Great points of topic and improvements shown in this episode guys!
Thanks for watching as always, Fig. Rock on! -Justin
Great video as always boys! It’s been crazy seeing how much the Black Series has been improving as a whole in recent years, I have high hopes for 2024 and beyond! Comment is gonna be a bit early but hope you guys have a good Thanksgiving 🦃 and here’s to hopefully many more great years of TBS
Thanks dude! Happy early Thanksgiving to you as well. Can't wait to see what 2024 brings us! -Justin
Guys, can you make the list of figures with 2023 clone body? It'll be very helpful:3
There's only two Clone Troopers on the 2023 upgraded sculpt at the moment. Commander Appo and the regular Phase II grunt. -Justin
@@OutOfTheBasement thank you! Now I can finally...FIGURE IT OUT!
All in all the line is definitely improving as it goes on. Photo-Real was a game changer. Before that I didn’t collect anything with a human face. Thanks for another great episode. Keep up the good work.
Those human faces were rough...glad they finally got photo-real! Thanks for watching, Gerald! Have a nice weekend. -Justin
I can confirm that baylan has ball jointed wrists! It’s amazing. It also opens the door to more swappable hands in the future!
That is awesome! Hopefully this means it's gonna be way more common. -Justin
Character selection is my pick for my fave improvement. Its been awesome rapidly filling up the shelf with desperately needed characters as well as ones that we thought we would never get.
Agreed! It's been so nice. And like we've all been saying, I think prequel era fans are gonna be eating well this upcoming year. -Justin
Tom Walgreen moment 😂
🤣🤣🤣
Do yall know when Shin and Balyn gon be released?
I'm gonna guess really early 2024. Like January. -Justin
@@OutOfTheBasementthanks appreciate it.
Stormtroooers aren’t aiming. Ha! I hope Black Series continues to innovate. Butters and ball jointed hands are wonderful. I also hope they continue to offer characters from multiple media sources. Comics, games, live action and animated TV, Films… they are spreading it around. I do want missing OT characters like Lobot, Nien Nunb, medical droid, and sweet sweet cantina aliens. I want creatures! Creatures Hasbro! Great video. You get to be called gents for showing gratitude… probably called schills by those who aren’t gents. Happy Thanksgiving OOTB! Hope there’s a 2024 Rebo miracle.
Yep I hope those ball jointed hands become more and more common. Baylan has them as well! Totally agree with you on the OT sentiments. More aliens! Hope you had a great Thanksgiving. 2024 Rebo miracle?!? Let's make it happen! -Justin
When you guys mentioned photoreal, I'm surprised you didn't bring up the rerelease of the Rebels crew: they were abysmal in the red & black era, Sabine being the worst which thankfully you could hide with the helmet. I'll give it to Fwoosh who made an amazing comparison video. Considering how they did such a phenomenal job with Dooku and I've seen the figure in-box, I wish they bring it back for Archives or Galaxy Packaging and give him an even better portrait AND the Lightning Force hand. I'm all in on TVC but I would buy that one for sure, not to mention that I was introduced to the work of Sir Christopher Lee thanks to Attack of the Clones.
For the elbow joints, Vader is literally perfect now. (He just needs new, stronger legs and revised shoulders so that the tunic stays properly under the armor for all NON 1977-like versions). All other points are valid, but I've my concerns on TBS which I'll keep away from the comments for now. Cheers!
Those Rebels redos are great! And yeah we really do need some newly sculpted legs for Vader. Then he'd be perfect! Thanks for watching! Have an excellent weekend. -Justin
Hello Nate and Justin, thanks for sharing your thoughts on the improvements of the black series figures over the last 5-6 years.
The face printing tech is a vast improvement for character's faces of human characters and aliens as well.
Unfortunately we also lost the ability to have the best looking battle damaged/ worn looks to the figures. Hasbro has the chipped paint looks down but where is the dirt and grime from being in the field ?? We lost that from the new painting system Hasbro is currently using.
We definitely have better character selection but way too much Mando figures in my opinion. I was happy when Hasbro rereleased the Rebels line, before that the only Rebels figure I had was Chopper. I was fortunate enough to find him at a GameStop that I don't frequent often, I was happy I stopped by that day.
I feel happy about no more Walgreens exclusives, but sad that Tom Walgreens is drinking so heavily these days. 😢
I hope you both had a great Thanksgiving 🦃, and a great weekend. I'll catch you Sunday. Take care my friends, Tom
Hey Tom! Thanks for checking out the new episode. Paint/weathering has definitely been the biggest downgrade in the line. Hope you had a great Thanksgiving as well! See ya Sunday. -Justin
I have the Baylan wave: Shin and Fleet COmmander have hinges, but Baylan has ball-jointed.
Very interesting! I like that it's being featured more and more. -Justin
Incredible and unexpected Tom Walgreens cameo had me dying like that ep of South Park where they randomly focus on Officer Barbrady after years of not using him had me absolutely rolling and Nate props for that commitment lmao happy Thanksgiving boys
Lmaoooo glad you enjoyed the bit, Philip! -Justin
1. Photo real and it’s only getting better
2. Availability in-store. The hunt lives!
3. Hasbro listening to the fans in general - I.e. Moving away from PFP, increased implementation of soft goods, making it easier to get figs, and character selection.
The hunt lives on for sure! Thanks for watching, Section 7. -Justin
Most important improvement is character selection, so glad we're getting CW and prequel figures!
100% agreed! -Justin
Photo real faces, and soft goods. Still waiting on an updated Black Series Anakin pre-Vader or ROTS updated 👀😄
We need that Anakin! -Justin
Man, Malgus and Malak are absolutelly perfect. I hope we get a Sion soon, and maybe an improved Nihilus.
Malgus and Malak are both top 10 material for this year! -Justin
Finally some positivity about the black series 🙄 instead of the constant complaining and whining about plastic 😅
I appreciate the view. 🤣🤣🤣
Character selection is the best of all. I'm loving the prequel figures most of all. I have a grand army of clones.
Totally agreed! -Justin
As far as the exclusives being easier to get that's really only for the US, luckily I have a friend there that helps me out a ton but even in Canada figures like the Duels End Vader were super hard to get unless you were checking Toys'R'Us daily
We're American, this whole video and channel is from a perspective of living in the US. That may be true for Duel's End Vader. But I know that Canada has also gotten certain exlcusives like three months before the US. It's all relative. -Justin
Great improvements for sure especially the photo real. I’m a huge fan of Ahsoka and I do own the Hasbro CW No. 44 never opened in mint condition and I thought was one of the best early on Ahsoka figures then they had some black series ones. The rebels one was ok then they re-did that figure and it was minimal changes but then comes the clone wars season 7 one which there were some issues but over all it was fantastic then they did mando Ahsoka and it was phenomenal and now we have the Padawan Ahsoka figure and it is literally the beast Ahsoka out right now. Compare that to the vintage collection black series Ahsoka and it’s like damn. They have been stepping it up even though repacks are annoying sometimes.
Thanks for sharing! Appreciate you checking out the episode. -Justin
12:33 gosh I want Dooku to be Archived so bad, he looks absolutely perfect! I don’t even care for the lightsaber swoosh so they can get rid of that if they want, I’m not picky
Surprised they never Archived him! -Justin
Plastic free... thumbs down😢
What? -Justin
Honestly every improvement has been a major upgrade but photoreal takes the prize. I also hope they implement the new ball joints in all, if not most, upcoming figures.
Hera, Marrok, and Baylan have them! I hope they appear more frequently. Hopefully this is a good sign! -Justin
Yeah THANKfully, the line has really improved from the spand of just a couple years. Also Ye got the Max Rebo Comic I recommended!
Aaaaay thanks for watching! -Justin
I still wish they would've molded the 2023 clone body to have the shoulder pads attached to the chest to avoid them tucking under the overlay and raising it
The O-ring system is significantly better bro I'm not seeing your praise for the smaller shoulder armor that scrunched up and folded in half when you raised the arms outward. -Justin
i grabbed the star killer, shin hati and baylan a couple weeks ago from toy snowman. idk if they still have em but baylan has ball joints, shin has up and down lightsaber swivel no in and out. and it's on both hands. but that's nothing compared to the crack smoking decisions made on those 2 figures.
That's awesome! Yep I'm not sure whether to pick them up or not. -Justin
Justin´s face when saying all the new clonewars figures and ending with Kiadi Mundi XDDD love you guys
Lol glad you enjoyed the episode! Have a great weekend. -Justin
Where I live in Canada, the Exclusives rarely show up in any of our three Wal-Marts.
Yep these videos are from a US perspective. -Justin
I have the comic white Darth Vader (2022) which its awesome with those update joint compare tho the first Darth Vader, and also I have the ko of the sandtrooper which is good but those hips sucks, maybe for december il will have the new white clone trooper on the 2023 mold, but I still wish hasbro make a version 2.0 of the white Darth Vader because those legs have the peg, since is the empire strikes back body has a secret feature, the top part of the helmet is glued to the mask, if you look close we can see a bit of anakin head but it's sculpted and not painted, you can try to remove the top part of the helmet with very hot water, on the inside of the top part oh the helmet we can see some detail and a rettangular per for some stand, other than that nice video
That Legends Vader is so fun! I hate it as well. Thanks for checking out the video! -Justin
They have definitely improved their figures, but some of the new prices makes it easier to justify import figures when there is the option. The face printing is where they moved closer to real collector grade.
Thanks for checking out the episode! -Justin
I would love to think this list is foot notes to the Thanksgiving prayer you both said at the family dinner table on Thursday lol. Good point, made me feel thankful lol
Happy Thanksgiving, Derek! Hope you had a good one. -Justin
The double entendres are just flying left and right, and I'm here for it. 😄
💯
I’m glad that they are making more eu characters and more character besides the main movie characters
It's been so cool to see! -Justin
A lot of clones and mandalorians came out. Boo on the prices. Entertainment earth is great for inbox collecting. At least for me.
EE is very reliable. -Justin
Articulation and the new sculpts are what I like best ✌️
Nice! Some great improvements. -Justin
Photo real saved this line, the only thing that stopped me from getting into this line early on was the horrid face paints.
Some of those early faces are terrifying! -Justin
I hardly collected the line before photoreal other than aliens and helmeted characters.
So glad the line has changed for the better! 👍🏻 -Justin
Happy Thanksgiving OOTB
Same to you! -Justin
peace be with you
mtfbwy always
MTFBWY! -Justin
Yoda’s human face. 😂😂😂😂😂😂
Lmao! -Justin
The dark ages didn't seem that bad at the time
That's true, we say that in the video. -Justin
Double Jointed arms and legs would be the cherry on top.
In the video we explain how we actually prefer the Black Series deep-cut single hinges w/ swivel compared to Black Series double-jointed. Unless they finally go pinless like some of the Spider-Man Marvel Legends, but I don't see them doing that. -Justin
@OutOfTheBasement i.dont mind then on clones/storm troopers but on jedi characters I feel like they are overdue that's what stopped me from picking the new Luke's although I'm tempted😂
I've gotta disagree with the 2023 clone mold I'm not a fan particularly. I don't like how it looks and the way the shoulders articulate under the chest overlay.
I actually prefer the old clone mold appearance wise only
The new shoulder pads are on the O-ring system and don't squish when articulated. They go under the chest overlay perfectly. -Justin
@OutOfTheBasement yes I agree I just don't like how it looks because it's not an accurate look
203rd
Thanks for watching! -Justin
Cloooonerrrrrs😂
They love em. -Justin

Just an informative heads up: the first Black Series to use photo real was Rey (Island Journey).
DJ is in the same wave so they both technically came out at the same time. Although DJ is 57 and Rey is 58. -Nate
@@OutOfTheBasement yeah but look at DJ. He doesn't even have photo real. Take a poll or survey, it might even be "Google-able".
Sorry guys, but your not correct on this one. Time to own it. Island Rey was indeed the first Black Series figure to have photo real.
Sorry, Christopher. You are dead wrong. Time to own it. It is indeed "Google-able." The information is available on Galactic Figures' website as well as the article written by Dan Brooks on the official Star Wars website titled, "The New Star Wars: The Black Series Figures Look Amazing, and Here's Why." DJ, Island Journey Rey, and Captain Rex were all part of red/black box wave 15 and were the first figures to feature photo-real. You can even see the ink jet dots on DJ's face looking at photos. DJ being 57, Rey is 58, Rex is 59. DJ being first in sequential order. Sorry, you are not correct on this one. Time to own it! -Justin
@@christopherfowler3269gotta commend you to be so brave and so wrong
@@adumbs_customsbrave? What's there to be scared of?
Even though they came out in the same wave, Island Rey was indeed the first Star Wars figure they used photo real on. Go back n look at Hasbro videos announcing the wave n photo real back then. Robo also touched on it on his channel. The numbers on the boxes do not dictate which figs came off the line in order. These two dudes just think they know every damn thing n always have (I e Ali Express figures are "customs" for example) And actually I thought back in the day, that of the two of them, the one with the longer hair would've been an alright guy in the real world...Hell he turned out to be a bigger @$$hole then the other one!
Don't drink the Kool Aid bro.
