Brenda, I have established My Pantry to a point, where all of My Weekly Food purchases are a minimum of 50% off. The Cashier is always shocked when I have saved more than I have Spent. God Bless Your Sharing. You are making it clear that it’s not all about how much Money, but how the Money is Managed.

I retired early, and to save money in my retirement I moved to a whole different country!.. my pension and social security here give me the lifestyle of a Queen!
I have a gardener, a housekeeper who's also my cook, a driver..I was able to build a home and guest house.. I have access to fresh inexpensive fruits, vegetables, and fish.. for those that choose this lifestyle it's very possible and doable!
    Blessings!

Absolutely! I seldom dry clean anything, even if it's dry clean only. Unless it's a fragile material or wool, I wash on the delicate cycle in cold water, even 2 piece suits. I then line dry. I've never ruined anything.

Two things: When you mentioned SNAP for seniors and when you said trust God, I was literally brought to tears. I recently retired and I've been struggling financially to make ends meet. You gave a lot of meaningful helpful tips in this video, some I already do but many I will now implement. Thanks so much for sharing, I believe God sent your video in my feed to help restore my hope. Thx so much for sharing. You " young ladies" are amazing. I am 90yrs old & started restoring my grandmother's 100+ yrs dilapidated house 3 yrs ago. I faced many obstacles along the way which only added fuel to the passion to complete my God assigned project. This is the legacy I'm leaving my children & grands. I once received this in my spirit one day when I was feeling a bit low.... Rest in piece while yr still alive. That is exactly what I aspire to each day especially at this chapter in my life. So kudos to all my sharp ambitious sisters, yr best yrs are yet to come. I'm also a thrifter which is my favorite sport 😊👍. Blessings to each of you & make happiness yr goal

Hi Brenda, I almost didn't subscribe to your channel because I thought it would only be about going to thrift shops and diys. But I subscribed today because I really enjoyed your video on this topic. You stressed that thrifting is also about being frugal in our daily lives. I'm 60 and have only been retired about a year and I'm single. I also only have an Android phone, stream channels, don't use my dryer but instead I hang my clothes. I have natural hair and only go to the salon to get my hair trimmed. These are some of the things that I do to save money. I'd love to hear more topics from your channel. You have a down to earth, pleasant and funny personality. I thought the story about your granddaughter singing in the shower and running alot of water was funny. I look forward to hearing more of your videos.❤

I am single and live in a 2800 sq ft home on 8 acres. A lot of area for a single person. But I love it. I do all my own work with help from my adult son when he’s in town. So I get your point of the use of your home.

Ms Brenda it’s better to keep your doors open to force your system to shut on and off more efficiently. Don’t close the vents please. Solar curtains really work and in the winter take advantage of the sun to heat your home.God Bless you.

    • @CherRam-e7c
      @CherRam-e7c 6 дней назад

she can close vents but not too much for risk of choking the system since it will force to send out the energy it was calculated for. That causes the fan in the motor to burn out. I am a heating and air conditioning tech so I know ths.

I strongly recommend keeping that Uninsured Motorist Add On Coverage. This coverage protects you against drivers who do not have enough insurance or no insurance at all (and in Ga a lot of people are driving around with no coverage or just the minimum 25k coverage). This means that if someone rear ends you and injures you, the at fault driver’s insurance only has to pay you $25k and you may have a huge hospital bill. If you have the Uninsured Motorist Add On, you can get an additional $25k settlement (or whatever your policy limit is) on top of what you get from the at fault insurance for your injuries. I personally recommend keeping that UM Add On and increasing your policy limit to at least $100k especially if you are doing a lot of driving because Atlanta is one of the states with the most amount of car accidents. All that coverage for $10 more a month sounds like a good deal to me.

    • @retiredbargainlady1959

Hello, and thank you very much for the advice! I really appreciate it. I worked near and around downtown Atlanta for different law firms over 35 years. After retiring, my driving has cut in half. I rarely leave my small suburban town. I primarily worked for insurance defense attorneys for major insurance companies in their trial division offices, like Nationwide, The Hartford, and a private insurance defense firm. Our job was to defend the insurance company when our insured was sued. We handled tons of auto accident claims, many involving uninsured/underinsured motorists. So, I'm very familiar with the purpose of the UM coverage and the risk of not having enough coverage. I do not take it lightly. It was an economic choice I made. Prayerfully, I won't ever need to use the standard UM coverage that I still have. Prayerfully. Again, thank you very much, and thanks for watching!

I love thrift shopping and I’m trying to figure out Facebook marketplace. I love that you are fearless and willing to try new things. Great show, Brenda! I had to tell you though that I struggled with car insurance for 2 cars until the last straw of a whopping $1200/half! I asked the agent, "What is the absolute lowest legal premium?" She said $350/half in NC! I'm 75, and I went from $1200/half to $350!!!!! I had to drop collision but kept roadside assistance. With the savings, I can cover possible fender benders myself, but so far, knock on wood, there have been none! I have no mortgage or car payments, which allow great flexibility!😻 Saving money is a GREAT ADVENTURE, isn't it? 😹Love to thrift like you!

One thing to add, we really should steer away from credit cards, but if you have a credit card balance that's charging interest, be sure to transfer that balance to a no interest credit card. Pay it off by the time the term ends.
At the same time though, it's better to use a credit card that has perks like cash back, travel points, and other benefits than to use a debit card. The balance MUST be paid off each month.

Check with your state or county. I'm sure it varies state by state and county by county.

It's a decorative cloth napkin. There's one hanging from candle holders on both sides. I had 2 left and used them this way.

If you have Medicare Part A & B, switc h over to the Advantage Plan which most comes with a debit card (money is added monthly) that can be used for Food, over the counter medicine, and to pay your utility bill.

You are 65, you SHOULD NOT be paying property taxes! There's something called Homestead! Go to your courthouse and ask the and Homestead. Being Exempt from paying property taxes.

I applied for homestead when i purchased my house. You don't get exempt from paying property taxes in Georgia, no matter your age, just school taxes after 65. Trust me, I'm well aware. Every state and county is different.
