I’ve been watching you for several years and thought I was duly impressed. But today you just brought to a whole new level. I was in Ontario at this time last year and it was so hot. I’m used to hot because we’ve even over 100 daily for a month and more to come. But I try to stay in during heat of day. But first of all watching you work in this heat and getting so much done, but more than that the way you bring us along with you is just incredible. I don’t know how you do it. You literally make me and I’m sure the rest of audience , feel like we are a friend right there with you. I guess if we were really a friend we’d at least 8:16 be helping you though. Thank you for this wonderful channel.
Thought I was the only one who checked water temp from hose before watering in the plants. Got a chuckle to see you testing the water on your wrist. Of course in those temps the hose water must have been scorching until it ran for a bit. The boxwoods look fantastic there! We are all so thankful for these inspirational and informative vids! Continued blessings and grace to you all!
Our water is scorching as it runs through the hose, so I spray it into a watering can until it runs cool, and then tuck that into the shade. Next morning, it's cooled off and ready to go. No wasting water under the water ban! LOL
Wouldn't it be nice if Laura put out a garden book with photos of her spectacular gardens! You can name it "Look at that" or "I love it so much"! ....just saying. Love, love, love all that you do..
My plants in our zone are gone. This heat is really hurting my plants. Laura please protect yourself have iced cold water with you and a summer hat. Believe me makes a huge difference. This heat ain’t no joke. Much love . ❤ 🤗
The center container in that patio and the plants underneath are filling in beautifully - so pretty. The urn containers on either side of the entrance into the Hartley are in their full blooming glory...gorgeous. That is some beautiful progress. Love how the Julia Child' are looking. Hope everyone can stay cool.
Thanks for explaining how to cut roses on the 5 leaf, and direction the new growth will go, learned something new! Love your place so much, a slice of heaven for sure
Oh Laura, you must be so proud of your Parterre garden...your vision is coming to fruition after all the hard work, dust and waiting❣ I'm sure that irrigation box problem will soon be sorted and the rest of the boxwoods planted 👏👏👏..and bravo for taking time to enjoy yourself with the kids...family time is so precious and are what childhood memories are made of !✨🌟✨
Everything Looks in your old words Glorious ❤ Thanks for being you. My regards to the whole family you all make an old Lady Happy God Bless. PS You're such a real Good Momma, For plants and Children ❤
Good morning! Everything looks so nice. I don’t think that anyone but you would think the boxwoods aren’t spaced equally. When I look at that space everything looks beautiful and would enjoy sitting out there in the evening. One of my favorite spots in your garden.
love the additional greenery in your formal area. really does make it more of a room and helps to soften all of the hard scaping. hope they do well. you are the queen of boxwoods in my book.
So hot for you! Swimming is perfect after all you did today! Our temps are in the 80's BUT, our dew points are 70...ugh!!! Hate humidity! Oh well, could be 30 below too,HAHA. The roses look so much better, I trimmed mine too, thought I did too much, but happy to hear you say they'll rebound. Whew! I also LOVE the area where you planted the boxwood! It's very hard to pick a favorite spot of your property, but this area is one of them!!
I absolutely love the boxwoods there! Your videos are such an inspiration to kick up my gardening game and really consider the winter interest, colors, architectural interest, as well as the feel of each area being a little room to enjoy. I also love that if you are unhappy with something, to take it out! I have put things in my garden that I was not happy with after, and I have felt much better about taking things out to make it 100% my space to enjoy.
You are amazing working in the heat 98 out then to find that in the ground while planting your boxwood what a set back. Your idea of hydrangeas behind the benches will be beautiful you have a keen eye for your design kiddos ❤
Oh yeah! Those boxwoods in the parterre are awesome. They give it the formal look and kind of the crown molding on the wall, sort to speak. A great finishing touch!!! And those containers on both sides of the Hartley doors are gorgeous.
Yep, I love the tall boxwoods where you chose! That was my vote. Sorry about the frustration of the irrigation box. We gardners just learn to deal, I guess. Did anyone else wish she had paused to admire the circle dry fountain planting? Looks gorgeous!!
Very productive day, you must be happy. The roses look awesome after their trim. The boxwoods look good. The entire area looks beautiful. The color and structure are beautiful. You are an artist. Stay cool and wear your hat. Have fun on your swim. Have a blessed day everyone.
To our dearest gardener Laura, Thank you so, so, very, very much for sharing all that you do, especially during the extreme heat and the extreme cold, you are legendary and we all love you x ❤️🤍🌟🌈🙏😇🐑🕊️
Love how you pruned the rose trees. They look gorgeous. I can't imagine having that many days over 100 in a row. In Central Indiana, we have humid heat, so today for example, it was in the mid-80s when I went out to check on my vegetables and as soon as I stepped outside, the humidity was like a steam bath and it felt more like in the mid-90s. For the 15 minutes I was outside, my skin and clothing all ended up damp and I felt like a limp dish rag. Luckily, our area is due to cool off this week to the high 70s and low 80s after a storm front moves through. It will still be humid just not hot. Take care. Hydrate!! Hope Canada sends you some of the cool air they are sending us this week.
Welcome to my normal summer temperatures here in San Antonio Texas! Can't believe you stayed out there as long as you did. Triple digits even without the high humidity we have make it pretty hot. Swimming is the best idea for that! Love your Channel. Have a great day! Stay cool!
I love to watch you count bricks, making sure everything is exactly the same distance. I do the same. My husband laughs. But it looks awesome in the end. Love, love, love your rose trees. ❤️ I’m thinking about planting one this year.
Oh wow, you are so great at doing all of this work, and trimming the roses really looks so pretty, and then planting those trees is really amazing. Your whole area around there really is so gorgeous looking and I really like seeing everything and how it is looking. I really love how those stones look around the beds and how neat and tidy they are. Thanks so much for this awesome video that I really had alot of fun watching. Have a great rest of yoru day, sending love and hugs, bye!! 😂🤗💜💜💜
We’ve been dealing with 100+ temps for weeks now. We water our annuals twice a day and we finally decided to get artificial grass. Working out in the garden first thing in morning is a must. Having a pool helps, too! 🥵
Although your property is massive now, it may be helpful to have an overhead map that shows you where all of your buried pipes, irrigation boxes, etc are located.
Watering in the early mornings. Temps are 94 degrees, w/70% humidity! Ugh…😩 thanks, for your video…you’re a trooper! Enjoy the swim w/your wonderful children! keep hydrated! 🥵👏🏻
Laura it broke my heart when boxwoods didn't work out. Don't despair it will eventually come together and it will be one BEAUTIFUL room. Esp with the hydrangeas!! Wondering if you'll use the ones your Mom picked out🤔 Hang in there...
The parterre is so beautiful! I love your vision with the hydrangeas. It is so amazing to see how far you folks have come. Looking forward to see more. We are looking at near 100 here in Virginia with high humidity. Our own personal steam bath. The high humidity does help the plants sustain the heat, barely. Enjoy your day!
Just passed through Ontario… hot, hot, hot! And smokey. Appreciate your continued enthusiasm and cheer in the face of all that dry, dusty heat. Water on girl!
This heat has destroyed everything just about. The only plants that look good are the herbs and lambs ear here and hydrangeas because they are in shade. Please take care of yourself. Wear a hat. I got a Slogger hat from Tractor supply that I love! Keeps my face pretty cool under it and looks great too. This heat is nothing to play with and skin cancer is a real thing, no matter how much sunscreen you wear. Take care of yourself. I love everything you guys do with the place! I don't have that energy anymore! ❤
Good morning! 🌞 Last summer I remember being so envious of your good weather up in eastern Oregon. Down here in Texas we had a terrible drought and lived in an average temp of 111 for weeks. This summer, the highest temp I've seen is 101, and we have been blessed with several bouts of rain!! I hope everyone is staying safe and cool ☁️
Oh my goodness I’m so sorry about the 100s. For the past 2 years we’ve had the 100 days of 100s here in E Texas but this year is much better. Highs in the 80’s next week!! IN JULY!!! What?!?!
Mid winter here in Australia 🇦🇺 Just received a consignment of plants by mail order today. All bare rooted so I too have been potting. First to go in was Oxalis palmifons which has the most exquisite leaves. The only indoor plant. A Gardenia Thunbergii from South Africa to replace one I lost from bushfire in my previous garden & aside from a bunch of Crocosmia Lucifer corms the rest are perennials, 2 x Kniphofia, a pink Phlomis samia, a Lychnis & a Beschorneria for the shade under the Mulberry tree. I’ll plant them all out in the ground when it starts to warm up next month. Opposite problem to you but same tactic. I’ll be pruning roses tomorrow too. The annual winter prune. Stay shady lady! Happy gardening.
It's me again,Just wanted to say The Hartley garden is beginning to look so European! Absolutely Love how it's becoming so Gorgeous and something to be so proud of.☺️ Irrigation box?
Haha! Funny to be so excited about 110 versus 112! I can’t imagine how that would feel here in Missouri with our humidity. The boxwoods look like they were always there, good job. Have fun swimming.
Just lost the message I sent you so will start again! It is a hot & humid day today in Southern Indiana so I give you credit for being outdoors and don't know if I would have thought to prune the mums after replanting in Land & Sea! So,thanks! Your roses are beautifully shaped after pruning and also think the salvia & statisfer white gara look great together. Had been thinking about an irrigation system but instead ordered a 100 ft hose which should allow me to water all that is planted outdoors. Your tree-straps for support,bio-tone as a pick me up are helpful tips. Really like your green tower boxwoods! Samantha looks already to go swimming & your a Mom that takes interest in your children& knows exactly what they are doing! Have a nice day! Time to start preparing a stir-fry and see here I go from there!
Laura, you always talk about your drip tubing cloging up. Have you ever thought about using the 1/2" & 1/4" soaker hose? This year I tried using the drip because I couldn't find the soaker hose last year and it and it's clogged already. I have soaker hose that is more than 10 years old and haven't had to change it out. 😆 I am sticking with my soaker hoses.
I love those boxwoods and the way they make that area look so cosy. You looked so patient when you discovered that you couldn’t plant the last three. Question: Are you naturally a patient person? Is there anything about gardening that particularly frustrates you?
I always check my water before i water! Here in Pennsylvania are have terrible heat plus humidity i dont go out in flower beds it is not safe with the temperature so high i will get it done eventually! Everything is gorgeous!
Wow cannot believe all you achieved in that heat…..😢And all those plants are going to be happier for it. Those tree roses continue to be so beautiful….great idea on adding those columnar evergreens to front those beds…looking forward to seeing the arbors installed…..👍😎👍
Great repotting. I’m glad you brought the table out because I thought why on earth is she walking back and forth. Roses look fantastic after their trim. WHAT AN IRRIGATION BOX. 🤦🏻♀️🤦🏻♀️🤦🏻♀️how rude.😂 Just move it. The trees look great though. We just had a week off high temps and the humidity was brutal. Not much wind either. Now we have 2 days of 24 Celsius and rain but hoping the humidity stays down. Then we have another week of high high temps and the humidity is going to be crazy. Hopefully we have wind.🥵🥵🥵 Have fun swimming guy’s. Enjoy. Thanks again for sharing this with us. Appreciated.💯💯💯🇨🇦🇨🇦🇨🇦
Yay great job, you are so very organized! Love the mums project on the plant table. The water tank on that trailer is excellent idea. We are in zone 8b and the heat is miserable. Only going out to check garden after 7pm. Ugh. My gardens a wreck, sigh. Thank you for all the trimming tips
Love your videos, watch them daily. Just wondering why you don't use watering trays in the greenhouse, specially being so hot. You could leave a bit of water at the bottom to let the plants soak up during the heat. You would also avoid the hard water stains by watering from the bottom. It works really well for me and I void having to water 3 times a day.
We are being quite lucky here in southern England (U.K.) this summer so far….we are hovering around 70 degrees Fahrenheit most of the time (with bits of rain now and again). It’s been lovely 👌🏻💚🧡🇬🇧
Not so lucky in the midlands of the uk around Birmingham 😢 Rain, rain, rain and more rain for weeks and weeks apart from 2 hot days a couple of weeks ago. I think that was our summer!
I’ve been watching you for several years and thought I was duly impressed. But today you just brought to a whole new level. I was in Ontario at this time last year and it was so hot. I’m used to hot because we’ve even over 100 daily for a month and more to come. But I try to stay in during heat of day. Oh my gosh! Samantha looked just like a mini Susan walking toward you! So cute!
Thought I was the only one who checked water temp from hose before watering in the plants. Got a chuckle to see you testing the water on your wrist. Of course in those temps the hose water must have been scorching until it ran for a bit.

Our water is scorching as it runs through the hose, so I spray it into a watering can until it runs cool, and then tuck that into the shade. Next morning, it's cooled off and ready to go. No wasting water under the water ban! LOL
Great idea to check! The “cold” water from the tap feels like it could steam the plants!
I always check the water temperature of the hose. I live in the Dallas area. It feels like the hot water out of the hot water tank. Crazy hot.
sometimes I forget to do that and end up boiling my plants in their own pots...
Oh we definitely check the water temp in the summer. It’s scalding strait out of the hose
Can we just take a second to appreciate the editing? The mum snipping edit was so satisfying 😊
I love how the garden by the Hartley is so formal and then you hear the chickens! Just perfect. Thank you for all you do.
Wouldn't it be nice if Laura put out a garden book with photos of her spectacular gardens! You can name it "Look at that" or "I love it so much"! ....just saying. Love, love, love all that you do..
The rose trees look so much better. I’m sure they will thank you with tons more blooms.
Laura, the Hartley area is just looking so beautiful! This should be on the cover of a magazine for sure!!! Love it!❤
My plants in our zone are gone. This heat is really hurting my plants. Laura please protect yourself have iced cold water with you and a summer hat. Believe me makes a huge difference. This heat ain’t no joke. Much love . ❤ 🤗
I think she knows that
Martha - I think your comment shows how much you really care!
@@nadiabeautyo7107Laura is outside with long shirt and jeans, open hair, i would break down in outfit like this. Maybe this was her concerne.
Laura has addressed her type of clothing in the past. She already knows how to take care of herself in the heat.
@marthaz1183 same here, not to mention gophers eating what's left and healthy 🤯. Not a good year my still beginning garden 😢
When I look at you doing what you do best, the word that describes you, that comes to my mind, is tidy. You say it so much.
Good morning all have a safe and blessed day ❤️
Thank you, you too ❤
Oh Laura, you must be so proud of your Parterre garden...your vision is coming to fruition after all the hard work, dust and waiting❣ I'm sure that irrigation box problem will soon be sorted and the rest of the boxwoods planted 👏👏👏..and bravo for taking time to enjoy yourself with the kids...family time is so precious and are what childhood memories are made of !✨🌟✨

Good morning everyone!
Not that much cooler here in Georgia but humid, Have a blessed day 🙏🏻💕
I absolutely love where you put the tower boxwood bushes. They really take this garden to the next level.

The Julia Child roses are the perfect yellow, or should I say “butter yellow”! So pretty!
Everything looks so gorgeous, Laura. What a transformation. You all work so hard and are realizing great results. Take good care of yourselves❤
Oh yeah! Those boxwoods in the parterre are awesome. They give it the formal look and kind of the crown molding on the wall, sort to speak. A great finishing touch!!! And those containers on both sides of the Hartley doors are gorgeous.

I trim my mums back just to keep the shape as they grow
We have a 24 inch pot and 1 mum keeps growing year after year and the thing gets huge
Very productive day, you must be happy. The roses look awesome after their trim. The boxwoods look good. The entire area looks beautiful. The color and structure are beautiful. You are an artist. Stay cool and wear your hat. Have fun on your swim. Have a blessed day everyone.

Laura! You are amazing and so is your garden!!
Laura your plants and grass are beautiful, you spend time with the upkeep and it shows.
A blessed evening to all !!!!
The boxwoods, look like soldiers of the Hartley. The perfect protectors😊
Beautiful plants. They will be a beautiful sight this fall. I always plant the cuttings and get new mum plants. They root very quickly
Your plants are looking so good in this heat. Love the boxwoods where you planted them.
I noticed you are wearing your gloves. That’s a good thing. I was always told that they show age first. 😊
Mums are beautiful for Fall…. I absolutely 💯 love them

It’s certainly cooler here in the West of Ireland :). A very pleasant 19 degrees Celsius (66 Fahrenheit)

Watering in the early mornings. Temps are 94 degrees, w/70% humidity! Ugh…😩 thanks, for your video…you’re a trooper! Enjoy the swim w/your wonderful children! keep hydrated! 🥵👏🏻
I use a kiddy pool, with some water in it, and put my potted plants in till I can get them in the ground. Really helps!
Great planting. Love your enthusiasm.
I love the Guara, but with the Salvia, and the Boxwoods is incredible!
Laura it broke my heart when boxwoods didn't work out. Don't despair it will eventually come together and it will be one BEAUTIFUL room. Esp with the hydrangeas!! Wondering if you'll use the ones your Mom picked out🤔 Hang in there...
Good morning, Laura ☕️ 0:49 What a gorgeous view out the back of the Greenhouse! 😍
That area you’ve envisioned with the arch of hydrangeas sounds so perfect! 👍🏻 ❤❤❤
Just passed through Ontario… hot, hot, hot! And smokey. Appreciate your continued enthusiasm and cheer in the face of all that dry, dusty heat. Water on girl!
It's so funny how a100 degree day is a cool down. Have a wonderful, well-hydrated day!🤗💕🤗

I swear I ha e heard you say it tons of times let’s say it again….. THAT PINK AND PURPLE COMBO IS TO DIE FOR!!!!! 🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰
Beautiful rose trees!!❤
Good morning from Kentucky! In your words Laura... my word! Look how huge those rose trees have gotten!! How are they standing! Lol⚘️⚘️⚘️
I could hear that in Laura's voice. 😂
Great productive video, as it always. Love all your videos.❤
The parterre garden is really coming together, gorgeous
Awesome could watch your skills everyday!!!

🌷🌷Heyyy Laura! Happy Monday🥰🌷🌷
I agree with Aaron, you need a drill for each of your augers. I have one for each of my augers. Makes life a lot easier. 🙃
Oh my goodness I’m so sorry about the 100s. For the past 2 years we’ve had the 100 days of 100s here in E Texas but this year is much better. Highs in the 80’s next week!! IN JULY!!! What?!?!
Love the way the boxwood trees look!
"Oh Look! Our 112 day is only 110 degrees" said NOBODY EVER except Laura!
I’m in zone 6b. I pinch my mums, May 15th, June 15th and 4th of July….. perfect round mums!!

Having the growing tables on wheels is a great idea.
I love those boxwoods and the way they make that area look so cosy. You looked so patient when you discovered that you couldn’t plant the last three. Question: Are you naturally a patient person? Is there anything about gardening that particularly frustrates you?
Your rose trimming gloves look so natural 😉

Yay great job, you are so very organized! Love the mums project on the plant table. The water tank on that trailer is excellent idea. We are in zone 8b and the heat is miserable. Only going out to check garden after 7pm. Ugh. My gardens a wreck, sigh. Thank you for all the trimming tips
Afternoon Everyone 🥰
I like the boxwood placement, perfect 😊
