Got the Book! Love how so far there is no fluff or filler worlds to explain a concept or idea, straight to the point with easy to understand examples. Thanks again!
"I will be blunt because you deserve bluntness." Thank you. Not many people are as honest as you are.
Thank you for your leadership and for sharing the wealth. I am a fan!
This is the best channel on RUclips. Coding Jesus, this is my church… amen🙏🏽
This is perfect, im 26, graduating with a Finance degree in June 2024 looking to break into sales and trading for hedge funds. Thank you for this, there are certainly many ways to break into the industry without obtaining a CFA and you touch upon it. Thanks
Hey man, great video as always. can you make a video outlining what traders do and specifically at HFT firms? Thanks, keep up the good work!
I got in at 28🙏, it's tough but worth it
How much you making
Making this transition now 🙏
who the fuck ever asks about age in an interview ?
How did you got in,If i want to be a quant trader how should i start?
Amazing channel thanks for the information! Seems appropriate that Coding Jesus advises the options Bible hahaha got that for my B-day, best present ever!
To me, waking up to these regular Saturday uploads is the equivalence of a kid excited waking up for Saturday morning cartoons.
Here before 50k subs haha, cheers
:D
Great realistic insight into the world of Quant
Man you are awesome… great video looking forward to more
Hey man, just wanted to say this is the first video I'm commenting on in a very long time, and its definitely my favourite video by you because of how clear and blunt and helpful it is. I've just finished my finals in my degree in Economics and Finance and want to land a job as a junior trader more than anything else. I'm definitely going to get the book and send in my resume. Thanks for everything.
Best,
Dev
How is it going
When you said economics degree I jumped out of my chair and damn near put a hole in my roof. Very happy to hear that. Also, picking up a computer science minor.
Dude, tell it like it is! I, however, watched it till the end. Well done.
Thank you for the truth, friend.
Informative. Thank you! 🙌
Glad it was helpful!
I'm 37....is it too late for me?! Kidding! Amazing content. I ran across your channel this weekend... Incredible to see someone taking time to speak truth and actually teach. Keep up the content, and again thank you for taking the time to release these videos.
I’m right behind you in age, let’s get it done
I hope you're right, I'm 19 and I'm doing all three. Thanks for the vid
@condingjesus1 nigerian jesus
Great, straightforward content. This channel is definitely one of the best in its category. Don’t even bother about audience size. Not for masses. Quality over quantity.
I actually think this is really solid advice, I wish I had seen this before interviewing
25 year old economic major here. Thank you sir
Hey great video, I am currently graduating in economics and planning to get a master’s degree in quant. I just wanted to know if i should start learning to code or something that might help me become a quant easier. And btw the reason why u have not a lot of subs is because you don’t sell unrealistic 10x returns, keep up the good work!!
As a python nerd I just feel blessed finance bros don’t give a fuck about spending money and I can sell them ten minute scripts for thousands of dollars
Do you recommend buying the workbook to the book too?
this is my first time watching your video but i jus wanna say this your channel name is awesome 😂
Thanks my Jesus
I actually think that book combined with Xinfeng's A Practical Guide to Quantitative Finance interviews would be perfect for preparation on the technical side of things. Having the options knowledge and partaking in some trading is great, but there is also a huge component of the interview that's based on probability/math questions and Xinfeng's book is great for this.
Thanks for that recommendation
thanks a million
hahahahaha the exotic women or men part killed me. Thanks for the vid again coding J. I'd have personally just liked it more if you'd have gone more in depth with that book. I still have questions like why that book specifically? how do you know it's that good? was it recommended to you by a trader? etc. Apart from that, great tips! thanks for the honesty
Why this book?
Noob friendly, easy to read, ramps up smoothly.
How do I know its good?
Recommended by traders at the firm I work at.
@@CodingJesus Good to know! thanks!
Finally the video i was looking for ! ;)
Hope you enjoyed it!
i love you bro lol. such a good vibe
Thank you I'm a senior in highschool ,and I'm gonna major in math and minor in finance
Awesome! Glad to hear!
@@CodingJesus for someone who wants to go into Quant Trading as well, would it be smarter to have that flipped and go with a Finance Major / math minor?
@@burahaunuddin2324 yes that sounds a bit more accurate
@@dylanlopez7901 I’d say a math/stats major with a minor in finance
Came here from Jake Tran great information I am so curious on how these applications actually interface with the trading desks at the stock exchange
me too!
I have a bachelor's in aviation logistics and am considering going back to school to get a master's degree in data analytics with a focus in statistics. Does a degree such as this apply to becoming a quant developer/trader at a firm?
I wish I learned this when I was younger
What would you recommend for someone as a beginner finishing their last year of college to help for a quantitative research position?
Would economics and stats be useful instead of economics and math?
Do people from outside of US an EU have a chance if they have a math degree, below 25 years, have read the book and have a lot of trading experience? Is a degree in physics also good?
I like the video than i watch it lol Dope content man keep it up!!
Hahaha
Is this book also helpful for someone who major in finance and has already been familiar with the basic concept of option?
Great video Coding Jesus! I am a prospective college student and I am debating between Computer Science or Data Science for an undergraduate degree. Which one is better to prepare for quant trading, or quant development in case the former doesn’t work out? Are both great options?
I don't know if this still applies, but if you want to be a trader, definitely maths, with a minor in CS/data science/stats (you want maths+stats+some coding). If you're shooting for QD instead, then CS major is more appealing. Hit me up if you need help with those choices it can be confusing/hard
How come I can't hit the bell icon to get notifications for when you post new videos?
@codingjesus what do you think about Coursera professional certificates? I don't have a strong math background but I have been self-learning python & pinescript for my crypto bots the last couple years.
I'm 28 and have been with the Automotive Industry for 7+ years. I got an interview lined as a Crypto Strategy Researcher.
I finished up my Applied Math degree last year but are there any prerequisites to reading that book that would hold me back from understanding it?
What about a background in Chemical Production and Power Engineering Technology? (have studied calculus for P&ID controllers (proportional, integral, derivative controllers for petrochemical processes). I am interested in knowing if the calculus function 'jerk' (the derivative of acceleration with respect to time) would be beneficial in finance, specifically trying to enter into a trade as it is accelerating hard upwards. Jerk(or surge)= m/s3, meters per second cubed. In finance case, it could money (vector) per second per second per second. Has anyone come to you with this before?
Is it possible to break in in your early 30s with a CS degree?
Nice video
i'm a programmer and i'm trying to create a hft. Do you have any strategy book for the futures market that you could recommend to a quant trader?
Can you live from the quant trading itself or do you need an additional job?
where was this video, when I needed it at the beginning of uni
Would Postgraduate Diploma in Mathematics from openuniversity relevant to getting a job as a Quant trader?
Thanks for the video.
is a computer degree useful at all in this field?
Is it ok to do math without specific finance knowledge? I love my math program (undergrad) but as I get into higher levels it’s all abstract and proof based. Are quant positions open to people with the abstract background? I personally really enjoy that part of math. I do have some programming experience (basic Java). I’d like to complete my PhD (been a goal of mine for a long time). Would a math PhD be ok to transition into quant finance? Idk if it’s exactly what I want to do but given the ability to apply high level math to new research it seems like a good fit for me. Research is what I want to do, to sum it up.
Most job descriptions say “Finance knowledge preferred but not required”
Hello, can you make a video to show how to use the skills of quant trader for oneself (what business I can create, how to trade for me...) and not to work for a company.
How do you get into quant programming?
Hi coding Jesus, in from Argentina, I’m in my 2 year of economics at university, in 2020 I really started studying the stock market, i really want to start at quant industry, would you recommend yo do a master on finance or mathematics?
If I have an accounting degree and want to transition, will that hold any weight on top of your recommendations of trading knowledge? Thanks and love your videos!
The markets don’t give a monkey about your degree
Ok, if Larry Fink asked you to recommend a 'reputable' Quant Firm to manage a $1 to $10 million dollar portfolio of cash and trade in ONLY (2) stocks BLK and BRK.B, whom would you recommend?
Thanks for the video. Can I ask why people in 40s can not do this job? Why age matters so much?
Wait, are you saying this book is all i need irrespective of background?
I have a repository of "must read" (from those written by Dan Stefanica to those written by Ronald Meester and Paul). In fact, the estimated period to complete these books (self-study) is about 3-5yrs for me.
Just to be clear,
1- are you saying the book you recommended is the best to start with while others can serve as supplement?
2- irrespective of background, the recommended book is all i need?
3- or are you specifically referring to those with STEM background?
*If this helps, i am a senior and studying towards a degree in Finance (which is not maths heavy).
Thanks a lot for this channel!! Found you after 3 weeks of rigorously searching for a Quant.
What if I had a music degree but everything else on the checklist? Would I be SOL or would I still have a chance?
Is it okay if I studied Dynamic Hedging in its place? Thank you
Thank you for this video. I always see ppl trash technical analysis and never give an alternative. Do you think the book's strategies could work for serious retail investors with modest means?
TA works for retail traders that have winning systems, I think he’s just saying that you would need to use more data science within the actual quant job. Not retail trading
@@mysticpresence oh ok. thanks :)
loving your videos bro. Now tell me one thing.. I am currently a trader in forex.. I want to learn or become a quant so that I can develop algos for my personal use.. Does learning quant just for my personal use is okay? or it is of no worth???
No need bro. If you have a strategy that works. Just hire a coder to code your strategy.
How do you become a Quant Developer?
Subscribed, good fuckinng video
Hi codingjesus , does the age limitation also apply to anyone trying to break into the business as a quant c++ developer?
What about a degree in statistics ?
Always informative and great content. I'm a self quant and developed my own models that work good. Maybe you can help me find where can I execute my strategy. I can share docs and proofs if you want.
Can you please share the roadmap how you became self quant analyst
How long you been in the field of trading?
Is a physics degree good too compared to maths or economics ?
I’m a freshman in college and on track to do a double major in finance (im in the business school) and computer science with a minor in math. Does that work?
I have a CS background should I get a masters to break in.
hey there, been watching your videos for quite a while, and honestly I really like all of them. could you do a similar video and a book recommendation for quant researcher and quant developer? Thanks! Or if you know what's the book already, feel free to just comment below. Thanks, Coding Jesus!
I made a video on how to break into Quant Developer
Hi im 33 anf looking to go back to school, im thinking of quant finance, would it be too late to start this venture?
Do I definitely need at least some sort of degree to get into anyone of the decent firms?
Would a degree in theoretical computer science be good for it?
What if I don’t do options but only fx?
What about econometrics and CS double degree?
Do you have experience working as a quantitative trader?
2022, this book still relevant?
Is that book worth getting if I just want to get really good at understanding options trading without background in math? (I’ve taken up to calculus but it’s been several years)
Yes
I’m getting a honours bachelors of artificial intelligence it’s like a cs degree with more math and I trade options and works at online trading academy will these help me get hired to be a quant I also trade options
That Natenberg books is worth its weight in gold.
Yep
If I am a mechanical engineering major almost done with undergrad would I be able to break into Quant, I did take a lot of math in my undergrad.
Do you personally have a degree in econ/math/business? Also, how much experience with coding did you have before starting your career in proprietary trading? Thanks a lot man
Yes and 4 months
Business degree
@@CodingJesus which programming language you focused
hi coding jesus thanks. but is 36 too late to become a quant?
Hey Coding Jesus, is it possible to be a quant with a stat degree?
Im about to graduate in mechanical engineering with a minor in business and data engineering is this enough of a math degree or is a masters in a more economic focused program recommended?
Love your videos!
I'm studyng financial engineering as career, u think I need to know about ito's lemma, stochastic differential equations? In my career I learned a lot of math but my last math subject was stochastic process, greetings from Mexico!!
Yes
This book better be good
Is it the same for quant researcher
If you’re 35, is there any chance of getting into this?
Hello from sunny Sydney down under. What is your advice for a 35 year old coder who has advanced to management etc (but still a gun a coding) and wanting to break into the industry? Have I got a shot? Should I apply as an intern? Ken to get your advice and mentorship
Book a session
Thanks for the recc. Curious why 45 year olds looking to break into the industry can't land a jr position?
Ageism, too old
Ageism. Horrible but reality
Is it still possible to do this without a degree
I am 31, should I go for it?! My age scares me to shift my career to quant ..
Is quantitative researcher and quant trader same
Long time no see… where are you?
I just turned 35 and studied Electrical Engineering, would there be any chance of me becoming a Quant trader if I can pass the interview considering my age?
Go for it man Jim Simons only started when he was 40.
Would computer engineering, CS or Mechanical engineering be relevant to getting a job as a Quant engineer?
ce or cs yea
