Tough teachers that have figured out to be the right amount of firm and assertive are so wonderful. I've had some tough teachers that were too much in the wrong way. No one really had much respect for them because they veered on the rude and dismissive. So of course, we would be just as rude and dismissive back 😅😅
Not so much for the soft teachers, tbh, my class was self aware enough to be respectful to the soft teachers. We would discipline ourselves and call ourselves out for being brats. It's not a good look to be mean to the soft teachers amongst fellow students haha.

Recently we have been getting a lot of new young teachers coming to work at my school and it's honestly rather heart breaking to see how hopeful and confident they are in the beginning, only to shrivel up into a sad mess by week 2 realising that the students just aren't going to listen to them, at least the younger students aren't going to.
I few weeks ago I saw a student teacher who had been assigned to supervise a group of year 7's in the library, after 20 minutes she was practically crying because they were yelling and throwing books at her, I honestly felt really bad for her.
Needless to say, I think she will probably be reconsidering her Career choice.

It is weird watching these and seeing how much teacher now do for their students. When I was younger I don't remember my teachers doing any of these things. Like the copier being broken, most of my teachers had one print out and they would read the questions aloud and we had to write down our answers accordingly or write the questions as they recited it. We rarely got worksheets unless we ripped it out of the workbook. We were never allowed to eat in class let alone ask the teacher for a snack. I remember helping my teachers decorate the classroom with stuff from other teachers. Depending on what course or theme they had, teachers would swap decor.

The veteran teacher fixing the copier had me cracking up - worse thing our school ever did was switch all the copiers so none of us knew how to bully the things into working anymore.

correction: i encountered my veteran teacher while she was drunk at a festival and she proceeded to wave me down, start yelling and think i was my sister.

And then there was my 7th grade English teacher who was and hour late to my one hour first period English class. I'm just glad the teacher next door let us in on rainy days. Oh and I didn't mention that he LIED to the principal about why he was late. And this happened at least 3 times every 2 weeks🤦🏻

I plan on being a teacher and I plan on wearing a nice tshirt and jeans everyday. I'm gonna be teaching little kids who run around no skirts. I'm going to have a basic decoration but I want to have a wall or something where each year my class makes a picture and all of them sign it so I have a memory from each class for decoration. This might be hard considering little kids handwriting isn't that good. I just really want to make the first few years of their school life great so they will hopefully live school and want to do there work. The reason my sister hates school is bc one of her first teachers was horrible. My teacher was amazing so I loved school and reading

My math teacher has been teaching for 26 years. It is very obvious. She's a really nice teacher, but she just has that aura of, "You do not fuck with me."

I so feel like a combo of both. More a veteran teacher but still a newbie when going to see the principal, calling parents or class observations. Does everyone else hate admin as much as I do?
