  • Today I will cover two types of leg work when striking opponents coming from four directions in IAI.
When you learn this you will be able to use them in a variety of situations. They are also important for building your CHUSHIN or center, which is a core part of the Kaz Method. In order to move in four directions you must be aware of your CHUSHIN. This exercise is very good for developing this awareness. Think of yourself as a lighthouse shining light in four directions. See all around you in 360 degrees, sense it, feel the space in your heart. This will help develop your sense of space.
It is important for performers and beneficial for anyone. This helps broaden your horizons both literally and mentally.
It has the added benefit of improving your posture.
Let's learn it, practice it and master it!

Wow. You make it look easy but that is because you are so good at it. I feel like I need to watch this several times to really understand before I try it. Another great lesson! Thank you!

Sometimes when I turn to cut behind me I step aggressively forward, sometimes I defensively turn and step backward.

I do a similar exercise for all 8 directions. Each cut I turn to cut what is behind me. Each time I turn to a little to the right and do it again.

That was super cool and informative. Just what I needed to realize my real yoshimitzu spin as a feint or taunt in sparring or kumite. Thank your very much Sensei!😎🙌🏼
