And much more with so much proficiency. I lost my front teeth in an accident, so now I can't play. No loss though. I never was all that good at it.

Alison is without doubt the most talented trumpet virtuoso to emerge in a very long time. Her ability to 'feel' the music sets her apart from 'mere musicians.' Add in that she is a truly delightful young woman who always has time for her fans, and you have perfection.
She is absolutely up there, but definitely not the best. Allen Vizzutti, Maurice Andrè, Wynton Marsalis, ect. are all pretty far ahead of her technically and musically speaking. But that doesn't diminish her playing at all. She's fantastic.
+Q5RPE To be fair to Nicholas Brister, these things are very subjective. Marsalis is outstanding in his field as was the late Maynard Ferguson. What makes Alison stand out (in my opinion) is her transcription and interpretation of pieces that were not written for the trumpet. Add in the fact that her playing demonstrates that she is living and emotionally engaging with the music the is playing.
_First time I have ever heard of her! Very very different in sound. The only thing I can guess is the thickness and texture of male lips vs. female lips! GOD bless Alison, a real joy to listen to! Watch out Gabriel!_ 😄
Such delicacy of tone, Moves through the score like a ballet dancer. You can see clearly that like any great soloist she challanges everyone in the orchestra to be better.

Interesting comments. To clear things up: This is the 3rd Movement of JN Hummel's Trumpet Concerto (not Haydn). It is written in the key of Eb, and while it can be played on a C or Bb trumpet (and often is), it is common and standard practice to play it on an Eb trumpet. Enjoy! (Some folks also need to learn to not be so critical and enjoy a brilliant performance, no matter who it is behind the horn. You are allowed to enjoy more than one trumpeter!)
Trumpetz81 Yes, it was, but surprisingly few people seem to have recorded it in E! At least, when I made a cursory search on Spotify, most players seem to have favored the transposition to Eb. So I think mr Frye can be forgiven for misspeaking on such a minor point. He makes a few excellent points! =)
Being an ex trumpet player I listen to all different trumpet players and have to see that this is the best performance of the Hummel concerto that I have ever heard. She has completely mastered the staccato, double and triple tongue techniques that I could only dream I could do. What ever accolades she may receive she deserves more. Excellent performance and I will seek out any other performances she has made available. Made my day to come across this.

I'm a decorated soldier and cop from a family where I grew up with alcoholic parents so please......I realize you think your so smart and know everything without having even a fraction of the facts, but there's a HUGE difference between struggling to play a musical instrument and struggling to JUST SURVIVE and STAY ALIVE!!! My guess is you'd know nothing about either. Sorry no one can even comment in this society without having to endure snotty remarks from mean spirited angry people like you. Interesting comments. To clear things up: This is the 3rd Movement of JN Hummel's Trumpet Concerto (not Haydn). It is written in the key of Eb, and while it can be played on a C or Bb trumpet (and often is), it is common and standard practice to play it on an Eb trumpet. Enjoy! (Some folks also need to learn to not be so critical and enjoy a brilliant performance, no matter who it is behind the horn. You are allowed to enjoy more than one trumpeter!)

Trumpetz81 Yes, it was, but surprisingly few people seem to have recorded it in E! At least, when I made a cursory search on Spotify, most players seem to have favored the transposition to Eb. So I think mr Frye can be forgiven for misspeaking on such a minor point. He makes a few excellent points! =)

Being an ex trumpet player I listen to all different trumpet players and have to see that this is the best performance of the Hummel concerto that I have ever heard. She has completely mastered the staccato, double and triple tongue techniques that I could only dream I could do. What ever accolades she may receive she deserves more. Excellent performance and I will seek out any other performances she has made available. Made my day to come across this.
