Rpm + boost + vtec Most people don't know that all other timing whether it's Toyota vvt or Mitsubishis mivec, only vtec changes not only the timing but also the lift aspect 😎 VTEC = variable valve timing and lift electronic control the newer Hondas have i-vtec which let's the low speed cam retard/advance up to 50 degrees. The i=intelligence because it will adjust depending on engine load/rpm etc to make max torque/efficiency at lower rpms!

I went for a ride in one of those teslas. To see that car get beat this says a lot about that civic. Most of us car guys don’t care to look into the Tesla but if you go in a plaid model it will shock you. It feels like a space ship leaving earth when it’s all out.
If that thing is really AWD that is pretty awesome. I used to be into light weight fwd cars but got tired of not being able to hook up. This solves that problem.
A electric motor has great torque in the beginning but once you get over 50 in plains off (in dyno sheet terms) where as the combustion engine with continue to make good torque numbers past 50 and like what the other guy said there pretty heavy cars
You guys are all wrong. The plaid has proven to debunk all that “above 50mphp” bahooie it bears about everything on the road. Litteraly. This civics just weights half the plaid and has almost the same amount of hp.
I don't care what anyone says the sound of internal combustion is so much more amazing and just something about it it's just fascinating compared to an electric motor that what it produces instantaneous torque but there's no cool sounds or anything no modifications you can do and be proud of yourself for an engine that you built...
