I don't always hear about the crimes that happened in South Africa on RUclips, and when I do, the people usually butcher the names of the towns or the Afrikaans (my first language that's almost similar to Dutch) surnames. You've done none of the sort and I thank you. If you want you can do a video on the first serial killer we had in the 90's. He killed I think almost 50 woman. A friend of mine was the only survivor. Great job BC. 💐
Glad the booms are back!
June probably killed em
Another Monday, another Briefcase. A warm welcome to all you loyal Briefies as we all sit back for another episode from our favourite channel. It doesn't get much better than this.
Greetings to you too Xxx 🙏🏼 ❤️ 🗺️ 🍀 🏴
@@janetcw9808 Hi there Janet.
Have a great day fellow Briefy 😀❤🌻🤗
Good day, y'all! Smack dab on Rt. 66 in Tulsa, Oklahoma!
Greetings from Malaysia!
People always say “What is the world coming to?” The world has always been crazy. The only difference is we now have information at our fingertips and are more aware.
Nah, I blame microwaves
You are so right that the world has always been crazy. The dreamers talk about the good old days, they never were
@@stewartwilson7669 Wrong! We used to be able to leave our doors unlocked. If you heard someone in the house you knew it was a friendly neighbor who had wandered in. We knew nothing about energy shortages. We got up in the morning and turned every damn light in the house on. Sewing room, both bathrooms, even though nobody ever went into the guest bathroom. You sure didn't need to worry about your Halloween candy..and the kids disappeared from lunch to dinner, no worries.
@@lazyhomebody1356 umm...never has there been a time where everybody in the world, a country or even probably a town has lived like that. I'm glad you had such a great childhood/early life though.
So true. Was just saying that same thing to my coworker yesterday.
Wow. I'm South African and grew up in Germiston and this is the first I'm hearing of Daisy De Melker. Thank you for doing this story BC.
Good that old cases won't be forgotten
I’m South African too and grew up listening to stories on Daisy.
I’ve known about her since I was little. If we woke up with crazy hair, we’d say we look like Daisy de Melker 😆 who now I see was actually very pretty at one stage. We’d also jokingly end arguments by offering a special cup of tea. Probably wouldn’t have been considered very funny THEN!
I got to visit the prison where she was kept for a little bit in East London, it was super interesting
@@angievanzuydam8543 😂 I still refer to myself as Daisy de Melker when I look a bit worse for wear.
As a South African, i can remember my Grand Father telling me the story. Even up to today its a case thats been talked about a lot i think because Daisy was one of very few woman that has been sentenced to death in South Africa. Thanks for the great story
The first fiance who died the day before their wedding --- makes you wonder if she just mis-timed dosing him as well.
I think she killled him
Her babies that died and the rest
@@lindaarrington9397 yeah, the more I heard the more I started thinking the same thing.
She killed the babies for inheritance
Same 🤔
So very sad. She could have been surrounded by her three children, potential grandchildren and all that joy. And yet, she favoured a few thousand pounds. Pathetic.
I just realized that I learn quite a bit of medical stuff from Brief Case videos.
Indeed! I’ve also learned a bit about legal proceedings.
I’ve never seen a sponsor that fit so perfectly with a channel.
Eerily so
@@stewartmeetball3417 I usually fast forward through sponsored stuff but I’ll actually watch and listen to any ad that Brief Case does because his voice and cadence makes them interesting.
I'm not at all a gamer or someone who plays games, but I REALLY like very much the sound of the game belonging to the sponsor! I'm wanting to subscribe.
I will say that out of all the RUclips channels that I watch Brief Case has been the only one who has taken the time to personally answer my request , even better he did it in a few hours. Thank you so much for your dedication and hard work on this channel. I’m completely addicted to it. Love it!
Thankyou so much, I am sure other channels will repond, there are so many amazing ones to watch :)
I can’t imagine how anyone can kill their child. I lost a daughter to cancer at 21 years old. I’d have done anything to have saved her yet people like this murder their own.
So very sorry for the loss of your beloved daughter.
Bless you. Sorry for your loss (and you’re absolutely right)
I am so sorry for your loss of your special beloved Daughter. No parent should have too go through such heart breaking tragedy and I can't imagine how much you have and are suffering. The big hole in your heart can never be filled through such loss but over time we become strong enough to carry on, how? I don't know but we do. Take care off yourself.
Yes I know exactly what you're saying. My perfect healthy beautiful precious baby boy became ill with a one in a billion disease and died after 16 days even with the best medical care available and us laying with him around the clock praying and doing anything else we could think of. I will never understand it. I don't even spank my children, not even a little tap, or even raise my voice. it's such a betrayal
How people could do that is so hard to imagine, I was so sorry to read your comment about the loss of your daughter, and so sad for Frenchblue8 as well, take care.
Every Monday I get a history lesson, a puzzle and something to debate in my head.
Thanks so much!
Thank you so much Brief Case. I live in South-Africa and remember that when I was a little girl and we drive by Pta prison, my dad would tell us that every year, the day she was hung, you can hear her screaming. That was always so scary.
That’s a scary but very interesting story, thankyou so much for sharing it
I love your dad!
Really enjoyed this South African case - great job again BC
Thankyou :)
Hope you thought of me lol 😉😘 I grew up hearing this story.
Hi CR!
Hey. ..doesn't your name rings a bell..wink wink
Yo Crimey!
I agree with others that this channel is underrated. Your research and narration are always on point. Additionally you clearly have a passion for these cases. Plus you are so humble and caring of subscribers' requests. And your kindness at promoting other channels is warming to see. This really is an amazing channel and I enjoy revisiting posts. Thank you.
Thankyou so much for your comment :)
We are blessed that medical advancements have improved infant and child mortality rates. I can not imagine living in eras where losing children from illnesses was prevalent. 😔
We truly are! I’m researching my family tree and one of my great, great grandmothers children’s death certificate stated that they died of a “cough”, another died of diarrhoea….unimaginable that a child would die of either these days 💔
The people were so harsch and rough...the childs death was common in those hard times...
I think she killed all of her children
Hard to imagine life with no antibiotics ...so many people died that could now be easily saved.
@@lks6248
Considering Daisy’s murderous behavior, you have to wonder if any of her children died of a natural death, or were they “helped” on their way?
I am from South Africa and my relatives are from Rhodesia...aka Zimbabwe.
I'm South African. Thank you for the little history lesson about my country at the time of WW1. DdM is an infamous (and well known) name in SA. IMO she was a sociopath. I wonder what caused her personality to develop this way?
Me 2
She was straight killer n evil
Money lover
Money.
Many people that do these things don't have something happen to make them that way. Some people are simply just 'wired' wrong
I’m sure the other children went the same way too!
Family abuse usually for sociopaths 😔
Sounds like Daisy is the black widow. Still watching.
Figured that out after the second husband. The woman who the modern media dubbed the black widow and made the term so popular was from Pensacola Fl. Most people think she was from California or Hawaii, but she killed her first husband in Pensacola Fl., and the woman who caused toxicology tests to become more intensive was from south Fl. She used a poison so unknown that it ten years to catch her. The coroner who finally caght her had to invent a toxicology test to even find it in a body. She made the same mistake as the woman in the video, she kept killing people.
The lesson to be learned is be careful about marrying women from Fl.
@@thebigdog2295 Never knew about the unknown poison! Brilliant coroner. All these women are so greedy they get careless and keep killing. The baffling act upon her son to remove him from inheriting any of his father’s money is purely demonic.
Definitely
Thanks so very much B.C. I was born in Zambia (then Northern Rhodesia) and grew up in South Africa so this was very close to my heart!
So happy to see u have sponsorship! About to download the game now 😊😊😊😊😊
Thankyou
To knock off your only son for a paltry £100, unreal. Poor Rhodes Cecil.
I think he knew what she did or was suspicious…. I don’t think money was the motive for the son
@@applicationuser9764 exactly !!! Haha 😂
Maybe he was getting old enough to understand what his mom did and, during a row with her, threatened to talk... Same reason Josh Powell killed his two sons once they were of interviewable age, they remembered him murdering their mom as toddlers.
@@pickles3128 He could have brainwashed them so easily. "Remember that time you saw that scary movie and then thought Daddy killed Mommy?" Like that guy who killed his wife and managed to convince two of his three children that they had seen her before school
My Irish Ma for years tried to poison all of us,me my 9 siblings and me dad. It wasn’t arsenic or strychnine that she poisoned us with but LARD. Everything was cooked in the stuff (mainly spuds we are Irish after all) her roast dinners could kill at a glance. If you didn’t eat her food whilst warm it’d set like concrete
I’m joking of course but I’ll never eat things cooked in lard again 😂❤️ R.I.P mam I miss you and will always love you , 39 was too young for you to die😔
I just love how he tells the story a great way for me to relax
Thankyou :)
Glad to see your work getting monetized! 👍🏽👍🏽

I would show these in a history class if i was still in school. They're well informed and well presented with historical materials that one would never find elsewhere. Thank you for all your hard work on these cases. They're not brief, by any means.
Thankyou so much
Best thing about Mondays!
My highlight on Monday
It's funny I turned off June's journey to listen to this when the notification bell went off. Always look forward to Mondays new episode. Thank you
This is a well known story here in South Africa. It was made into a T V series. Great as always. 😃💝🐘.
I love programs and films that are set in eras of long ago!
Wasnt there like a song also called Daisy DeMelker? I could be wrong.
What was the TV series called ? Thanks 🙏
@@angelapyle7301 Hi Angela. It was quite a long time ago, one of our friends was a actor in it. It was Daisy De Melker from what i remember. I know i help'd Air on her channel. She did a great story on her. Good Luck. Yvonne. 😃
Had a to be a series; babies? Son? Dang Daisy!
Thank you Brief Case 👍

Another interesting episode!!! Please keep them coming! I so appreciate your in depth research in all of these.
Trying to figure out why 1 dislike. Thank you, Brief Case for keeping us entertained and aware of other people's fates. Cheers from Dublin
I downloaded June's Journey about a year and a half ago. I love the Journey this game has taken me on! Great, realistic graphics with a believable storyline! A great game!
Thanks for another good case, BC! Cheers!
Thanks for covering this! My mom used to tell us this story when I was young as well as the story of the Panga-man serial killer that used to kill couples that visited the drive in movies (unfortunately I don't know which ones) after hours in South Africa. It has always fascinated me. Think that's where my curiosity regarding murderers started. 😁
Anneke, toe ek jou naam sien en dat jy Afrikaans is toe lees ek jou comment in Afrikaans in my kop lol.
Growing up, my mom told us the story about Daisy. We thought it was an old folks tale. I will have to share this video to show my mom that Daisy was in fact a real person. Once WhatsApp is up and running again. Thank you BC
Hello Briefcase and friends, early morning in Ohio and the delight of another great story to listen to. Thanks BC.
Hello to you! It's a sunny day here in St. Marys, Georgia. USA. Be safe out there. 🙏🙏🙏🙏🙂
Hello from Ireland wet and cold 👍😂
I just found Briefcase and LOVE it. I’m binging like nobody’s business!! Never stop ❤️
Thanks Jennifer :)
Daaam ..those people were bumping each other off left and right back in the day! It's a wonder the police could keep up with it all. Bet a lot of them got away scot free!
Problem is lots of arsenic was in the general household...from green wallpaper to rat poison....lead pipes caused dreadful.amounts of poisonings too...never mind the crud added to milk and flour amongst other foodstuffs to give greater profit.....have a look at Victorian food adulteration...
Anyway, l often think that some of these poisoning cases are environmental not deliberate......Plumbers were constantly exposed to poisonous environments...

Yes! The best thing about Mondays is knowing Monday evening I'll get to sit back, relax and go back in time with Brief Case!! Thank you my friend!
Thanks, You too
Thank you BC ! I love the old forgotten cases! Have a Wonderful Week!
I know Cecil Rhodes was a huge influence (and from I've read, a terrible person) on that area of Africa, but really, they named him that? kinda be like naming your kid West Kayne. great story, I wonder if she poisoned her other babies. This channel is awesome
That's exactly what I thought about all the dead children.
As soon as I heard of the deaths of four of her babies, I was sure she was killing them like Waneta Hoyt, who killed her five children. The eldest died at 28 months, the remaining four within the first few months after birth.
Seems plausible- people did lose multiple children but that was a high number.
And he was gay to boot.
Incredibly underrated channel. Always such well researched and unknown cases. Another great video!
Thankyou
I was wondering when you are going to put Daisy De Melker's story up on your channel. They say she is one of the Ghosted that is haunting the police museum in Pretoria, South Africa.
This was a very interesting and yet horrific story about whether or not this woman murdered her two husbands and son. Great investigating and backstory of this case, as you always do.
Thankyou
For anyone who says the past was better and people were more moral...I present this channel! Thanks for your great videos!
Thanks for the fantastic job! I grew up hearing about Daisy, and it was such a surprise to hear this story! 👍😻🇿🇦
Thanks for listening
Those who engage in mariticide or uxoricide for financial gain seem to always make the same mistake of not knowing when to stop; most likely because they tend to get away with the first, or even second attempts and get the idea that they are smarter than they actually are.
Great stuff man, really love the great details on older cases which may be difficult to dig up. Respects from 🇨🇦
Its not a productive Monday night without a Brief Case video upload! 👏👏👏Wonderful episode as always BF! Cheers ✌️🌃🇯🇵
Watching the row of people on the street reading, newspaper in hand at around 12.50, reminds me of people today, doing similarly but with phone in hand. It's as the old saying goes: "the more things change the more they stay the same"!☺️
Except we are not reading the news today.
@@nanakojo probably looking at cat pictures!
I wonder how many murders are just... living their best lives right now because they were smart enough to STOP MURDERING while they were ahead of the game.
If he was lazy then why was he working, in the first place, I figured she killed him due to that she spent the inheritance already, and had no plans of paying it back.
My mother spent my brother’s inheritance from his father which he found out about when he turned 18. Sure he was pissed but I’m glad she didn’t feel the need to kill him over it! Obviously in both cases the money was spent on them anyway!
Thank you for another Brief Case ! Always a better Monday with your videos❤️
How could she have also not spared her own son ?! Truly bloody !!
Oooh! I do love your brief cases ,every night about 1 am I snuggled down in my bed and look forward to listening to you tell these gruesome life stories .So interesting and it helps me nod off .No nightmares yet 🙀Keep it up 👍
Thankyou for watching them :)
I've read about this case before, but this was the first time I saw a photo of Rhodes or most of these photos of Daisy. I'm not terribly surprised that her last husband believed so firmly in her innocence. We've seen that before, haven't we? People see and believe what they want, regardless of the truth.
Another excellent presentation.
Always great detail & photos.
Thank you for crafting these stories with care and respect for the victims -- and without undue sensationalism.
I was locked out of my original account and had to start another one - this time sans my alias. 🤣
How I've missed Brief Case ❤ I could listen to you read paint ingredients. Thanks for making my Monday's better (again)!
Welcome back!
I wasn’t expecting her to be executed so quickly…I guess it’s because I’m so used to the longer process we have now. And as to why she killed her son…She’d done it before, gotten away with it and was “rewarded” for it via inheritances. So why wouldn’t she think it would go her way again? Maybe she was tired of having to take care of him if what the sister said was true. So getting rid of him, getting money and not having to give him his inheritance might have been too good to resist.
I don't think she'd have killed her son at age 21 when he would have been self sufficient, earning wages and bringing that money home every week to his mother. It doesn't sit right with me. If her son was a burden she'd have done away with years earlier when he was a child. He was an asset alive. She inherited 100 pounds. Realistically speaking, was that motive to kill her son. Personally I don't think so. Alas we will never know
I guess.
I could not imagine..people were nuts!!! In the 20's & 30's
Nothing got my generation so motivated to do something as when a grownup said....just like Daisy de Melcker. For instance go brush your hair, you look just like Daisy de Melcker. Oh dear, this takes me back.....and school children having to go on school trips and one of them we went on was the police museum in Pretoria. A spooky place, very, very gruesome. Those photos of her. My giddy aunt, I STILL remember it 60 plus years down the line. (It would be interesting to hear if any other people of my generation remember the above.)
Wow people said that, I didnt know that is so interesting, thanks for sharing the info :)
@@BriefCaseOfficial It was a pleasure. The sad fact is that the older one gets, the more you have to share, the more you are ignored. So I thank Almighty God for my electronic devices, for RUclips and interesting people like you who put interesting things out there. Thank you.
My mother, aunt and grandparents went to see the body of John Dillinger. He was displayed in a storefront window, after he was taken down by The Feds.

Back in those days, they used arsenic to help embalm the bodies, so, of course, her son is going to have it in his system. As for the husbands, who were plumbers, strychnine was used to clean and treat the plumbing -- if I'm not mistaken.
I am so amazed at the amount of interesting details you have in your reports. Do you have a staff that investigates these cases???? Liked the photo of the people (all men? ) reading the newspaper as they wait in line. Good stuff!!!!!
