- How to stop paint bleeding under masking tape is easy to do, this video will show the technique used to stop or at least reduce the amount of paint that bleeds under or through the masking tape. People often say bleeding though the masking tape but in reality paint bleeds under the tape.

There are some paints that are designed for garage floors which are generally harder wearing, you can use paving paint or floor paint but it might not last as long.

what about when you have to mask off grout? I can never get any tape to prevent bleed through

thanks for the reply. Well, I had to paint a fresh plastered wall white and it went all the way down onto tiles that had grey grout in the gap between the wall and the floor tile, it was impossible to mask and also difficult to clean off Diamond Matt white paint that ran under the tape. I wish I had tried duct tape. The grout was too gritty for the masking tape to form a seal.
Maybe painting Grout Protector fluid on the grout before masking would help also

Depends on how bad it is you could use sand paper to remove the paint, it will remove some of the grout but it still should look Ok.

Well if you don't push the tape down it doesn't matter what tape it is paint will still bleed under it.
