I am honored to have met prof. Julia Fischer twice. She teaches at Munich University of Music and organises free concerts by her talented young students. Amazing and very kind person on and off the stage. Also, Congrats to prof. Ferenc Krausz, one of this year physics Nobel prize winners, I am honered to be one of his students at the University of Munich LMU.
@A.J314, I did not know Julia Fischer is that popular/famous. My innocence, till today. Years ago I bought classic violin music by her through iTunes advertising a new release in classical music. The picture of her in the album is a young lady in her early twenties. And I said, wow she’s talented! Needless to say, I loved what I heard so I bought the album! Time and time again I would listen to it if I want to listen to pleasant and happy classical music. I can say, I had sophisticated ears not realizing she’s famous!
Good on you! I've graduated with a bachelor of music (contemporary) and bachelor of business. Even though I'm not Swedish, I'm Australian. I am classically trained. But I've had lecturer who study at royal college of music, Griffith University, University of New South Whales, Sydney University all of whom study their phd or doctor of musical arts degree. Even though my degree was focus on contemporary performance, I didn't do any classical music. I still till this day play classical music. But anyone who has the ability to play any instrument, their brain works differently, IQ is different than a regular person, I don't know the scientific terminology for that is. But I know from my experience playing multiple instrument, I finish high school at age of 16 and went to uni age of 17 and graduated with two majors. I met alot of uni friends on campus who study their postgraduate degree master of music programs and already graduated and now pursuing their doctorate degree in America or I have 2 friends who's not pursuing music anymore and now doing their doctor of medicine degree to become medical doctor instead. People who say that majoring in music is useless, I deny that statement, music has help me put me through uni and I attended to a top performance arts school in my state when I was high school student. Not only that, I just graduated my bachelor of business (honours) course and now thinking to pursuing a phd in business later.
Julia Fischer's playing of the cadenza in the first movement was astounding! A superb performance all around. I'm so grateful to be able to hear this. And brava for Gabriella Smith, her words & her music.

In the world of classical music, time stands still, and we become travelers on a sonic odyssey. The symphonies and concertos are not just compositions; they are portals that transport us to realms where emotions are felt with an intensity that transcends the constraints of reality.

Beautiful concert hall. Perfect orchestra, excellent chef. Great concert. Brahms performance from Julia Fisher was amazing. I follow her with attention and admiration. Audience, please do not applaud between episodes. You applaud at the end of the piece.
Gabriella Smith's piece is an amazing feat of orchestration, for the wind-and-surf-like environmental sounds she is able to wring from this instrument.

Thank you so much for this fantastic performance of Gabriella Smith's challenging work. A beautiful and compelling contrast to music we have all heard performed well many times.
Fabulous performance. And the camera persons did a remarkable job capturing individual musicians from exceptional angles adding greatly to viewing experience here on RUclips. I appreciate all those involved to make this artistic experience. Thank you!
Just wonderful! Takk for this soul stirring concert! The Ravel finale was off the charts! I hope the in-person audience enjoyed it as much as we here out in video land!!
İts really difficult to understand the people that come to this huge concert hall even they have concert program booklet in their hands don't know when they should clap.😟
I presume you're talking about clapping between the movements of the Brahms violin concerto? You might be interested to know that when Brahms composed the work, applause between movements was expected. As a matter of fact, the audience at the premiere of this concerto applauded the first movement *cadenza* which delighted Brahms. If it was good enough for Brahms...
I have heard this beautiful piece in my childhood, back in the days of prosperity and privilige when Kings ruled, and we had to sing the Kings Anthem at School every morning. Things were so different then. This music brings back those forgotten, hidden, and lost memories that I know will stop when this music ends, and never come back.
Johannes Brahms he is the dearest German romantic composer that I have studied in depth in terms of style and this interpretation is a very successful one. Congratulations !
A wonderful celebration concert and Julia Fischer was just superb in this Concerto by Brahms. One thing I am curious about - the audience clapped between movements of this concerto. Is it now a tradition to clap between movements in Europe? In my city in Canada, clapping is discouraged and all of that is saved until after the major work is completed.
As a string player (never played professionally), I'm fascinated by all the techniques used to derive the sounds of the strings in the Gabriella Smith's piece. Salonen and the orchestra had a marvelous performance.
To the pioneers of quantum dots, Profs. Moungi Bawendi (MIT) at 1:12 and Prof. Louis Brus (Columbia University) (1:49) we salute you! From the symphony of a quantum confined wave function (the electron) in CdSe to the glorious sonic waves from the Royal Stockholm Philharmonic, all is harmony. There is no better way to introduce the wave nature of electrons then with the vibrating string, notes and music! The constructive interference of electrons creates chemical bonds that form the basis of life as we know it, while sound waves create the wondrous and joyous expression of life through music. Science and art are more entangled then we realize

There aren't enough adjectives to describe the beauty of this composition and this performance! Watching and hearing the violin soloist, I have never witnessed such perfection, and such genius. Thank you very much for this incredible video! Congratulations to the Royal Stockholm Philharmonic Orchestra and Maestro Salonen. Julia's personality is unique: True to her feelings.
